From: Kyllie Wylie But Warps, Spellfire or DCS2 dont have anything to do with RP either but most RP sims use them for combat. its just a system to "keep score" really. Right, they are combat systems, not RP systems. If people RP between fights, that's their business. Bloodlines is not a combat system. It's a vampire system, really. The difference is that, unlike most all combat systems, you can have it interact with people who don't want to be part of the vampire thing, which is why it's a pain in the petui for everyone.

I don't think it's that bad to interect with other peoples, it's kind of fun and clever, but we have two sore points: first bloodline make peoples hunt for blood abit too rabidly, mainly because having more and more peoples join the game is their business model, not unlike many web based games, it's typical of a game designed around making as much cash as possible to generate annoying behaviors in the players. The second bit is that peoples in sl are a bit of sociopath types that see everything as an agression. But i know no way to cure this other than death...

From: Kyrah Abattoir I don't think it's that bad to interect with other peoples, it's kind of fun and clever, but we have two sore points: There is nothing clever about being asked to animate your avatar in a RP society that has nothing to do with what you're doing or where you happen to be. I've been hit up for this while shopping, helping newbs at HIP ... that's not clever. That's an annoyance. From: Kyrah Abattoir first bloodline make peoples hunt for blood abit too rabidly, mainly because having more and more peoples join the game is their business model, not unlike many web based games, it's typical of a game designed around making as much cash as possible to generate annoying behaviors in the players. Thanks, you admitted it: "to generate annoying behaviors in the players". This is not the web, this is SL. New and "clever" annoying behaviors are the last thing we need. From: Kyrah Abattoir The second bit is that peoples in sl are a bit of sociopath types that see everything as an agression. But i know no way to cure this other than death... That blanket assessment tells me you haven't a clue what people in SL are like. What a rediculous remark. Heck, all these peeps wearing the bloodlines HUD prove you wrong on that count, never mind every other social, educative, artistic and RP based group here. "We" SL "players" do not see everything in SL as an agression. We see a game system that has nothing to do with anything except annoying people and making money for it's creator - as you just admitted in this post. Real sorry if you have an issue with folks being annoyed at being annoyed.

Would be nice if you avoided to attack me personally, i'm simply stating my opinion on this game, the first time i read about it i thought it was clever and original, which it is but i also saw how annoying it can be because of the inherent pyramid scheme it rest upon, HOWEVER in the loong years i've spent in sl i also got abuse reported by peoples that walked on purpose on landmines i was building (you know big obvious metal thing with blinking lights that say ARMED) on the pretext i was griefing them. Being in SL since... 4 years or so i can admit my opinion might be laced of pessimism but it doesn't makes it completely wrong.

It's been a long day where I'm at. ... But to refer to us all as sociopathic because this "clever" game annoys so many of us is a bit over the top.

I guess they didn't know what "Armed" meant or couldn't see it due to lag. I have been around longer then this alt i.e 2003 yet I am clueless about lot of things. Yet I have never abuse reported anyone but that doesn't mean I haven't been annoyed or seriously consider it but it wasn't over something as stupid as that. It is fun idea to think of revenge sometimes but reality is I wouldn't stake a annoying vampire even if I wanted too.

From: FD Spark It is fun idea to think of revenge sometimes but reality is I wouldn't stake a annoying vampire even if I wanted too. No, me either. I'd rather something a bit more meaningful were done ... but what? All that's needed to happen now is for someone to make a HUD that mimics the 'animate your avatar' request while claiming to be bloodlines - but instead doing something very different. I don't think that idea would need too much elaboration

I rp everything
09-09-2008 14:12
I agree with many of the comments here.
I believe that I, in my vampire rp, am an exception to the "norm" Bloodlines player. I am always in character in my vampire avatar and always use, what I think, is pleasantry and good feeding manners. My bites always follow up with a RP note card and some candy.
hmmm this gets me to thinking. Maybe Bloodlines could come up with a new HUD for vapire slayers?
I think I would like to get hunted.

Agree with you there, like the Combat systems it should have been designed to work only in Bloodlines enabled sims, not in every sim in SL. That would have stopped 99% of the complaints.

Wanna bet given the chance to make more L$ and not tick off most of the grid, the maker might jump at this?

A hunting HUD ... how would that work?

From: Kyrah Abattoir Would mean a serious lack of blood *snickers* So some vampires starve to death. I say survival of the fittest! I honestly think he should consider changing the rules and recoding the huds. The rest of us shouldn't have to deal with it.

The rest of us shouldn't have to deal with it. The ironic thing is Bloodlines gives out a free scripted "bite marks" attachment that could be used for exactly this purpose already. Wear the bitemarks, you're a willing victim and the vamp's HUD scanner detects you. Don't wear it, the scanner excludes you. Seems like an easy solution to me.

I think I would like to get hunted. I think that would be a good idea, vampire slayer HUD. Adds some true rp to the game, even if it's just used by people who are tired of Bloodlines vamp's and their constant spamming. I decided not to play with Bloodlines, but have been to many of their sims looking around.

I decided not to play with Bloodlines, but have been to many of their sims looking around. I had sent the vampire slayer ideal to the Bloodlines creator months ago. I think they are doing werewolf next, but I still have my fingers crossed for vampire slayer.

Vampire Killer Hug-like Attachment
09-09-2008 20:01
From: Annabelle Babii If I knew how paired animations worked, I would create a stake-through-the-heart animation that gave out an llDialog offer "Avatar" llGetOwnerName "would like you to bite them" [YES] [NO] OK, just for fun, I went ahead and made a Silver Dagger Vampire Killer. I need some beta testers. IM me in-world if you are willing to try it out and tell me what you think. But keep in mind that it's for fun, and I only spent about a couple of hours making it. I will give it away free in my shop after it is tested a little. Cheree

From: Kyrah Abattoir The second bit is that peoples in sl are a bit of sociopath types that see everything as an agression. But i know no way to cure this other than death... I bit of a broad-brush statement there. Just because I have wish to participate in some rp vampire game (or any other rp for that matter) does not make one "sociopathic." Might want to go research that term a bit first.

"Joe Schmoe wishes to drive a wooden stake through your corrupted little heart. You'll get a free clove of garlic to wear around your neck if you accept." Now there's an idea...those of us who don't want to be annoyed by this bloodlines thing while going about our own business can start wearing a "Cloves of Garlic" necklace. This would indicate to the would-be biters that the necklace wearers REALLY don't want to play. /me ponders a new item to add to my store

From: Czari Zenovka Oooo...love it I could make a clove of garlic necklace and we could team up *grins* The problem with those things - the garlic and the "killer hud" - is that, even if it's in a joking way, you're still being pulled into the vampire roleplay. Garlic, hammers and stakes, etc - these are of the vampire "mythos". So you're basically RP'ing to not get bitten. I don't think that's right. Going up to somebody and biting them is rude and newbish, and it's not good form to try and force your roleplay on others - most people know this; but I don't think the best way to brush such people off is by joining the roleplay. Imagine a BDSM-type "dom" coming up to you and ordering you around. Would you tell him to just go screw off, or would you explain to him that you're a "dom" too just to get him off your back? Or how about a Gor fellow trying to "capture" you for a slave. I don't know the term for "free women" in Gor is, but whatever it is, would you call yourself that to get him to back off? Or would you just tell him to shove it, cuz you're not playing his game? A HUD or something that automatically denies Bloodlines bite requests, or a way to simply opt out of the system is just fine (although I'd much rather the system was "opt in" in the first place). But I don't want to have to wear a garlic necklace just to keep newb vampires from hassling me. Half of them wouldn't understand what it was anyway.

everyone seems to get hassled by vampires. I tend not to bother with them - get the one bite over with lose 5% of your humanity and move on ........I also tend to set the environment to sunrise and watch them run away.......or say 'jeeeeess its bright here, should u be out hassling people, hang on let me find that silver stake? dog
