I have just found out if you contact Lyle Maeterlinck you can be put on a list so your not a target. I still feel all should be on this list unless they opt in

Then there would be no targets -> no victims -> no word of mouth advertising -> no sales. :)

You know you're fed up with vampires when you ARE a vampire and you decide to quit the bloodlines system because vampires as a whole are a selfish lot only after "blood" and only interested in spamming others with their bites. Cool thing is I can sell all the souls I have and make back a little money. Bad thing: vampires, as a rule, are way into drama and have been ripping into me about my decision for the last two weeks.

Really amazing.

I even had one guy try to convince me that "selling souls is illegal". Come on. This isn't eBay. It's bloodlines and second life. The souls aren't real. That people would pay the price I'm asking is pretty amusing.

Still, I have eight souls left. Five are spoken for. Once I dump the lot, I'm going to ask the bloodlines people to take me off the site. I won't bother to "turn myself human". I'm not about to give Mars Bracken anymore linden. Not for a "game" that annoys the hell out of so many people.

A game is something fun that you can win. Like Poker.

If it was as hard to find out how to opt in as to opt out then there would not be many vamps about. As for sales the Bloodline group would make a killing selling blood which they do now so win win all around

Here's something fun: I've been planting the seed of dissent amongst vampires as I sold off all my vampire stuff. They asked me if I was taking the potion to be human and I said "of course not. I'm going to get myself removed from the database." General reaction was "you can do that??? Thanks I'll keep that in mind."

Tonight, as of 8pm I am, for all intents and purposes, no longer a vampire. Not in the database, don't own souls, don't have blood tanks. I'm FREE!!

Now to get me a silver dagger vampire killer.

I was in a place and a vampire guy, I assume a high up one....very politly began a conversation with me regarding vampires. He informed me I was in limbo.. As we spoke I remembered a nice lady asked me many months ago.. to which out of curiosity I accepted.. Hell she was so short she didn;t reach my neck and I was mainly laughing more than anything so we parted company and I went on about my merry way...

Well, I had no idea these systems tracked...

neway he said give him an im if I ever wanted to become and he was very nice... I think proper vampire. No force, Not even sure he really wanted to bite me but was willing to help if I was looking to transform..

Now these type vampires I can deal with.

Thx dear. It was a lot of fun making it. And I still get a kick out of using it.

They told me they put me on a "Do not bite" list in their database. They lied.

This begs the question of "Why the hell should we HAVE to get bitten to make you jerks go away?" If I want to play your silly pyramid scheme game, I'll buy the HUD. I haven't bought the HUD, so it's quite apparent that I don't want to join in.

I was told by one of the Bloodlines programmers that I would never show up on the hud again. He lied. So, now you are all fair game to me. When you ask if you may bite me, just ignore the silver dagger in my hand, and accept my request to bite you. It will be good for both us. I promise.

The manual on their web site is pretty clear that anyone who doesn't have the HUD on shows up as a potential victim on a HUD scan for victims regardless.

Which means that the HUD does not query the database on each scan, which means that a 'do not bite' list is simply not possible. :)

They also claim that once bitten, you won't be asked again, so they must be querying the database each time.

Their lead programmer, Lyle Maeterlinck, claims to have put me on that 'Do Not Disturb' list. But, obviously these morons cannot be believed.

That's the problem. You're asking people to be bitten when they don't want to. When I was a vampire the best friends I made were people I didn't ask to bite. Not Cool to say "just allow me to bite you and the bite spam will stop".

This is EXACTLY why I left the game. The vampires in the game all seem to be selfish this way.

Heh, I keep mine hidden :)

Honestly, I had a vampire scan me last night to see what the scan would say (I was removed from the database last night after being a vampire since July). It said "This person is not in bloodlines, please leave him alone".

So anyone who doesn't bother to scan me first, or tries to bite me anyway, will get a razor sharp hunting knife in their eye.

Love how that thing works. Very Norman Bates.

I don't remember if I posted in this thread, but I'm finding the whole "omg don't bite me!" a little silly. It's not the end of the world, if it gets you from getting bitten ever again, it's worth it. I can understand everyone's point of view though.
I let myself get bit in a hair shop, not knowing what it was. Nobody has bothered me since, and I have no adverse effects from just one little animation. :p
Heck, I'm not even on the website, I searched.

I kinda enjoy the occasional bite and suck - and it can lead to other bites and even more sucks (if you get my gist)

I put on my profile "** Bloodlines requests only accepted upon receipt of L$50000 per bite. **" and it works better than garlic!

Ask them for their RL address. Then go there and drive a stake through their heart.

Or open all their curtains and expose them to the cleansing rays of the sun. Then stand and laugh as they melt into a pile of goo.

I actually LOLed at this. Ty Chris.

I agree, this whole thing is silly. If a friend had ever asked to bite me, I would have relented. But every request I have ever received has been from total strangers. That is not cool.

And since most everyone knows what I do, you probably won't be surprised to know that I know how to make a deformer animation. How would you like it if I requested to bite you and what I was really doing was stretching your avatar's neck to be about a meter long?

It is not the actual act, it is the respect these people should give us after we have refused this request several times.

I got a message this morning asking if I was sure it was Bloodline players and messages from Bloodline liaisons. I didn't respond because what are they going to do? Argue Bloodlines with me? I've had some tell me to turn scripts off on my land. If I do that people can not use translators.

I don't mind vampires in game at all, isn't there room for everybody? What I do mind is bad RP.

Don't just walk up to somebody and say "Can I bite you?" I mean, would that work in real life? Even worse is just sending the 'invitation' without a single word to the person. Err, NO.
