Okay here is what I think or noticed in case anyone cares. 1. I am still new and have never worn the bling. Not that I would or cared too. 2. I dont really see that much of it on ppl. So I dont know where this is such a problem. 3. It may not be something you like, but who are you to tell ppl not to use it? Do we really need to censor ppl in a place where freedom is a main reason for ppl to use SL? 4. Are you the Bling Police?

From: Eric Stuart To those that fall under the category of "Bling Whores":
Stop. Just stop. So far in less than 20 minutes I've seen atleast 30 objects on avatars that were so loaded with bling it was ridiculous. Look, bling is not cool. It never was. It makes you look retarded. As I type this, a person standing infront of me has a necklace that is apparently over 200 prims...with EVERY PART BEING BLING. Not only that, he has bling glasses, bling wristbands, bling piercings, bling SHOES! SHOES!?
Listen...to those that wear it, stop. For god sakes, stop. For those that are considering it, don't. I have items that have bling but luckily "bling off" exists and I don't have to worry about it. It doesn't look cool, it never has, it never will.
</rant> Shouldn't this be addressed to the bling creators instead? Anyway, it's these people's game as much as yours and they can do with it as they please.

From: Isablan Neva "Blingtard" is one of the 7 stages of SL avatar enlightenment. It comes right after noob-with-a-box-on-my-head. Haha ok... I admit everything lol... Sure did I wear a box on my head in my first days and sure did I have a nose-piercing with bling ON in my first days... hum - until a very good friend asked me why I´m wearing a lighthouse on my nose roflmao Turning the camera around and looking at yourself for a while gives you a little impression on how annyoing this ksdahgkldhgkajfk bling is for others hehe These days I don´t stop swearing if I accidently bought something without bling OFF That´s how we change in SL Just be kind to the "noobs" who are still in that stage of growing (well... maybe give them a little hint if you care for them ) Just wanted to admit...been there... done that... I wonder what the other 5 stages of avatar enlightenment are... start building ? settle down ? ... I´m tempted to open a new thread about that

From: LittleMe Jewell oooohhh, awesome idea -- I now have to run out and find lots of really obnoxious bling for my Alt to wear to the party. And the best part is that I will never know how bad it looks because I almost always keep particles set to zero. edited to add: Forgot about poofers - I'll have to get myself some of those for the party also. And someone thought the new location picked for the party wouldn't lag as bad. Haha!!! nooooooooooooo Jeez! and now I am actually *almost* HAPPY that I am not going to make it! lol go figure!

Men who wear a lot of bling in SL remind me of men going through a mid-life crisis in RL ..you know the ones who wear a necklace and an open shirt..buy a new converible and maybe a hair piece?
pity the male blingtards - they are just trying to make up for a small 'attachment' in RL

Very short hair at the back and sides but not a follicle on top. I hope I'm not imagining this. It's been a long time.

Interesting. Of course how many of the men who complain about women who's avs are slim when their players are not ... have good hair in SL but not RL?

Remeber "Blingers" each bling is a script. Usually a horribly laggy one at that.
Some of us work hard to create lag free sims.
Then bling boy and bling girl show up wearing more scripts than the whole sim :/
Visit my sims sparkling like that gets you a free one way ticket home.

This is why I like Alienbear for jewelry. It's very subtle, doesn't sparkle too much, and isn't wracking the sim by having the script in every piece.

My SL hair is a big sore spot for me. I have yet to find anything I like. I eventually gave up and stayed with the Aragorn I-haven't-bathed-all-week look. At least that was the hair picked by most of the women I asked. [edit] That could be the problem. Maybe I should get Bradley to take me hair shopping next time.

I have some nice jewelry that has bling with no bling off command. I ripped the script out of it...but it still blings. It's one of my favorite pieces and when I find something similar with no bling I'll buy it.

There's one in another recent post about bling. *goes to look* Edit: /327/3e/243987/1.html#post1890315/327/3e/243987/2.html#post1890689

[edit] That could be the problem. Maybe I should get Bradley to take me hair shopping next time. Get in line, pal. Actually, I can't see much of a demand for Donald Trump hair or balding hair, any more than I could see a demand for really unattractive female hair. Guys have some of the same motivations as women in SL, in general. Why would we choose hair that makes us look bad or highlights our RL imperfections? I'm under no illusions that the women I see running around are all 22-year-old, 6'6" supermodels in RL, so I'm not going to be an overweight, prematurely grey, desk jockey with a limp from his arthritic back in SL. It's my mind, my personality, emotions and heart that are present in SL, not my body. Oh, and just so I don't get in trouble for being OT, I just don't care about bling. I don't own anything that has it, but if it makes someone else happy, then they should wear it. I'd rather see someone with a lot of bling than some idiot running around with his junk standing straight out dry-humping every female avatar in the sim.

I don't wear bling either. It's simply a matter of taste. Strange isn't it? What we fight, or debate on in these forums. Bring up Gor/ BDSM/ Child Avs/ Furries/Porn, and whatever, and most of us are all for live and let live (me included). We all want to have the right to be - enjoy SL - how we want to. Bling? All of a sudden people become judgmental.

From: Alisha Matova Remeber "Blingers" each bling is a script. Usually a horribly laggy one at that. Well, technically speaking, this is not true. Bling is started by a script, but it is a "particle system", which is a prim "property" or attribute. So once started, you can remove the script and the bling particle system will continue to go, no scripts involved. The scrubber scripts turn the particle system off completely. "Bling off" does the same thing temporarily; however, for some ungodly reason bling on/off scripts generally do not remember the last state, so whenever you TP bling starts up again. As you observe tho, Alisha, bling is lag-producing. Particles are very lagtastic ... they don't hit the script execution time, I believe it's more of a rendering issue. If everyone in the sim were to turn off their abilty to see particles in preferences, perhaps they would no longer produce lag ... of course no one would be seeing them either ) .
