You may consider me sick and twisted, but I think I prefer bling to badly done glow and face lights.

I'm not a bling person myself though I love jewelry and have designed and sold jewelry in rl.
/1 bling off I think that's the channel? However, I'm not going to rant about it. Hate bling shoes personally too! Some things on SL are fads when first invented and I'm sure die out eventually, but to each their own I guess. I dislike super bling flashing dance floors too. My avatar had more fun dancing in a basement type building once cuz there was absolutely no lag and we had so much fun! It was one of the best times I had on SL -- ever! Enjoyed the music (the DJ one of the best I had ever encountered on SL) and the talking, as well as looking at the different avatars and clothing without the need for "flashy" atmosphere or laggy dance clubs where you cannot even more nor see much at all. That one experience on SL without lag was just the best time I ever had on SL AND didn't need any laggy atmosphere to make it fun. Actually the no atmosphere increased the fun to the highest level I've ever had on SL! But, to each their own. |

I really wish we could get some new threads started, even to rehash the same crap, rather than digging up the old ones. At least with new threads, I can sort of convince myself we are discussing new stuff.
![]() Besides, it seems like there just has not been that many new threads in RA lately. _____________________

To those that fall under the category of "Bling Whores": Stop. Just stop. So far in less than 20 minutes I've seen atleast 30 objects on avatars that were so loaded with bling it was ridiculous. Look, bling is not cool. It never was. It makes you look retarded. As I type this, a person standing infront of me has a necklace that is apparently over 200 prims...with EVERY PART BEING BLING. Not only that, he has bling glasses, bling wristbands, bling piercings, bling SHOES! SHOES!? Listen...to those that wear it, stop. For god sakes, stop. For those that are considering it, don't. I have items that have bling but luckily "bling off" exists and I don't have to worry about it. It doesn't look cool, it never has, it never will. </rant> A lot of people got those freebie shoes with the huge blinking bling.... normally at first this is awesome and wow... of course eventually they realize its a bit much... Not every one knows of course to type bling off or channel bling off... I like soft bling myself. in a necklace or ring for instance.. But to much i have to agree is hard to take.. Honestly bling doesn't bother me as much as the face and body lights.. and those prim eyelashes... at a distance its just a black blob on the face and if you animate your face.... lol funny. |

I'm of the mind each to their own! Would hate to be judged on what I like to wear or get up to in SL, so am loathe to judge others. Okay here is what I think or noticed in case anyone cares.... 3. It may not be something you like, but who are you to tell ppl not to use it? Do we really need to censor ppl in a place where freedom is a main reason for ppl to use SL? 4. Are you the Bling Police? And I don't think these comments got the attention they deserve. With all the real life tragedy that happens in SL--the deceit, the fraud, the mean spiritedness-- I find it very hard to get exercised by what people choose to wear.... /me shrugs _____________________

Bling gets you muted ^.^
12-22-2008 08:51
I don't leave the area... I just mute the person
If you mute them you don't have to look at the bling lol. I don't mute every single person that wears bling but in cases where it draws my attention because there is so much of it I do. Nothing worse than walking into a dance club or my favorite store and having to leave because of something like bling. |

I have bling and wear it in moderation. Its the facelights and the clackety clack shoes that I find disturbing. Some facelights like up the room like one of those lights the coast guard flashes at you. The clackety clack shoes, they speak for themselves. I own one pair and make sure I turn that darn thing off when I wear them. To me that is more annoying than bling.

Yes i agree those shoe sounds come in at a close second to bling and I create my own facelights, I don't like seeing those really bright ones either. I try to make mine barely reach my own face for falloff and fairly dim, it really ruins the appearance of even the best skins if your light is too bright.

"Blingtard" is one of the 7 stages of SL avatar enlightenment. It comes right after noob-with-a-box-on-my-head. I'm so glad I skipped that stage. I always thought it had something to do with the fact MTV no longer swamps Times Square with blingtards for TRL... |

Guess what. Just turn off particles and not only will you no longer need to watch SL's version of cheap perfume, you will also no longer be bothered by the dozens of poofers around you. ![]() The answer, my friend, is entirely in your hands. That's kind of an all-or-nothing approach, some particle effects are actually interesting or useful. That being said, running around with a four-digit rendering cost for the sake of vanity when you're not off doing a photo shoot or at a formal function is pretty selfish behavior, and bling really goes a long way in running up that score. |

I see at least as many Blingtards on my daily commute as I do inworld. I used to to have that problem, but then I moved out of the ghetto that is Gresham, Oregon. 'set particles to zero' is right up there with 'mute' IMO - an essential I wish it were possible to mute by UUID, so you wouldn't have to sacrifice effects universally, just the obnoxious ones. For example, those kid laughs people have. They're not funny, they're not cute, they just make me want to stab the person in their face in front of their friends and family to make an example out of them. |

You need to switch to decaf. The only gestures that really bug me are the mega spammed ones... if that's the right jargon? (Meaning where people take up a whole page of gesturing at one time and on the computer screen all you can see is an endless sea of "heeeeeee hawwwwwwww", and THOSE DOING THAT IDIOTIC GESTURING need to switch to decaf or get off the Mountain Dew or Whoop Ass drinks. When that mega spamming gesturing starts happening Brenda, I log off, and SL loses out on someone who may have donated lindens to the land owner's hangout. But this could be it's own thread altogether. |

-slowly lifts her hands to cover her diamond stud earrings that bling in both real life and sl. Oh my what should I do? Peeks her head around the corner looking from left to right. Oh hell I am not taking my earrings off for anyone in rl or sl, you can just watch them *bling*. The difference between RL and SL is in SL, bling flashes as bright, usually the same color as and is as visible as an ODOT truck's hazard beacons blinking on the freeway pulling a car out of a snowbank. In real life, you're only getting the much more subtle reflected ambient light. |

I met a woman not long ago whos hair was a light source. Sort of like a face light but ever prim in her hair was glowing. Face lights... those are also obnoxious. Let the ambient light do it's job, people! If you look bad under ambient light, a face light is only going to make it look worse. |

Why don't you just go somewhere else instead of logging out? Well whatever the reason, whether it gave me a headache or not, or I didn't feel like going shopping anymore or not, isn't going to do anything for that particular land owner who could have received a donation because of peeps with that excessive take up a page gesturing and then repeat...and then repeat....and then repeat................... |
