Mmmhmmm but what I was thinking of, were actually the issues, which seem to often remain the same, for a newbie, and to them, are just as relevant as when the thread was first posted. So what is a dead horse to one, maybe a fledgling colt to another? And if the 'Resident Answers' part of the forums do exist to help fellow SL citizens with their questions, it seems natural to me that with newbies, the same questions or types of questions may come up over and over again. Would a better way be, perhaps a new person should search for/read a prior thread before asking a redundant question, or before making a post/question to an old thread?

It'd be nice if they did run a search for threads before posting, but if the "newest" thread is a year old, go ahead and create a new thread. In a year, a lot can change, such as LL's rules for SL, or they did away with features (joints anyone?) or added a new way of doing the old feature.

But if the newest post is a week or so old, yeah, just tag onto that one.

I don't mind necroposting as long as it wasn't to a flamebait thread that somehow managed to get past the mods for locking ;)

Ooh! Me too, please? :)

I feel like a beacon sometimes...stopping SL ships from crashing into the shore. Or, just a really humanoid flashlight.

Hehe, I've logged in and out enough for one morning. Follow the URLs in my sig to get one.

Not to take away from Ghosty's light...

But if you have the full version of MystiTool, it has a very nice light which you can adjust.

I offer a FREE adjustable (scripted) facelight that keeps it's radiance to a single meter. You can turn it all the way up, or completely off, but the light stays close to you and doesn't engulf the surrounding area.

My contribution to a more beautiful SL :D

Though it still creates the campfire-flashlight effect at night that's more spooky than beautiful...

Really? TY Lindal.. I've not explored all the cool features of my MystiTool. I'll have to check that out.

Can I ask you guys a question, I will use this thread because I see it mentioned here, as well as others I've been reading. I gather that this thread as well as many that have new postings added are actually old threads being brought back to life, or, 'necro' posts.

Does this really bother those of you who have been around the forums for a long time? Because I have learned so much from some of those revived posts. I've been on SL since April of 2007, and on the forums only about a year, but haven't been active on the forums, til very recently. So I wonder how many are like me who actually learn from older posts, although they seem to annoy others?

There are two problems with necroposts, 1) a fair amount of the time the post in question was something inflammatory that restarts an ongoing drama - this post is one of them. Every time a drama post gets resurrected we start the whole fight all over again. 2) SL changes. Every viewer upgrade makes changes and information from a post that's a year old is likely to be no longer relevant if there has been a viewer change to that topic.

Then add that to the clickity-clack horse clopping sound seemingly popular in heels now - especially amusing when the person is on grass, sand, etc. ;)

Oh ya beat me to it lol, ya those are funny, that is the first thing I turn off. Just wish I could in RL lol nuthing like a girl all dressed up looking nice and sounding like a horse walking by.;)
