Well, I don't know. This thread has made me consider how the experiences of men and women in SL may be dramatically different. I think if someone is at a club and a 'man' dances with them platonically, then apologizes and backs out if things get too personal, I don't see how the 'woman' could be harmed. If a person is that fragile, a club is not where they should be. If she offered to friend, I would simply tell her I was a woman in RL. *shrug* I think I will put together a guy noob and wander about a bit. |

So what if I dressed up as a man in RL (if I could get away with, which I seriously doubt,) smoked a hundred cigarettes to roughen my voice, learned how to walk, and went out on the town with some friends just to see if I could do it? If I get caught out, who looks like the fool? Me, or the girl? If I don't get discovered, and we end up kissing for a slow Journey song and part ways at the end of the night, without having exchanged telephone numbers (or even, in my case, real names) /me is strangely titilated this narrative. Hickory Farms meat and cheese sampler?  oh Yum, I still love that stuff. LMAO - My first job at age 16 was at hickory farms. I was fired for eating the samples off of the customer sampler tray and sneaking little cups of soup in the breakroom.  _____________________

Agreed a fragile person shouldn't be in a club (of course pick ups can happen anywhere ) but that's my point...there are a LOT of unstable/emotionally fragile people online as in RL. (I'm a mental health counselor by profession so I know I tend to look at things through those lens.) |

Go to any nude beach. You will find: Fully dressed females. A few bikini-clad avatars of both sexes. Many nude male avatars with fully erect yard-long non-matching attachments, swaggering around forlornly, and unsuccessfully, seeking sex from anyone of any sex, or none. (Except each other, of course) And this describes why my profile says "No SL sex. Period".  Actually, it even happens when I am just tooling around my properties, doing building and various maintenence. Anyways... many kinds of women, many reasons for saying "no sl sex" Me, I have been around the erotic end of 3d for the last 8+ years. It's very hard to "move" me in that way, unless you're really good. Otherwise, you're REALLY BORING and I have no time for you in a busy schedule. Hell, I hardly have enough time for all the creative things I do in SL - most people will find me a workaholic and be quite forlorn and lonely ... because I am completely unable to devote the time to a virtual relationship and do everything else in my virtual life. Really, we workaholics actually exist. But anyways, my observation is that many folks come into 3d worlds, they get excited about the relationship and sensual possibilities, go a bit crazy, and then get burned a few times, and eventually settle out to a nice life of virtual celibacy while doing other more creative things, or just leave virtual reality altogether. Everyone knows that a sexual relationship in SL is going to hit Skype or something similar in 2 weeks, anyway. Or be over real soon. _____________________
