Ok ok a location: just cause I love the place, search for the lost gardens of apollo

Am I actually the 1st after 10 pages suggesting a place??? :D:D:D

No, I suggested she visit sporting events such as hockey games, boxing matches and wrestling. I met some great guys at those venues.

There have been lots of suggestions about types of places and things to try. People just haven't been extended many specific places. Personally I couldn't think of anywhere that might meet those exacting standards of hers.

I told suggested that to her in the other thread about open chat vs private im chat. Ok, I know that is not the title of that thread but that's the gist of it. Oh I forgot, it also about are newbies told to speak primarily in private im. My apologizes to the OP on that thread.

We were serious - these forums really are a PLACE. All we do here is talk so you will find out all sorts of things about folks.

Also - it is only page 4 for me
:p

I agree, I read these forums, and resident answers in particular, for a long while already, only recently started to reply a bit often.

In average it takes a while for people that come to SL, to find these forums, the not too clear link in account might be one of the more obvious reasons. Therefor I find the forum population in general more matured than the inworld population.

I do find the regulars here smart, patient, helpful and from time to time hilarious.

The few guys I have been able to become friends with, I met in Combat sims. They are great for finding out which guys are childish dweebs and which ones are more mature, and have a brain.

Dweeb: U cheet! No way you shoot better! You just cheeting b*tch! I h8t u and tell evry1 you just cheet and a boy!

Mature: damn girl! I can't seem to live when you are around, how are you managing to do that?

Of course, they all tend to hide when I bring out my chainsaw and Rocky Mountain Oyster recipe.. ;P

Perhaps her hubby is jealous because he knows she is hunting for the "company of men".

Sl has sporting events, those places you can meet guys at. I met an ex at a hockey game. Never went to one before and we dated for several months. I have met guys at boxing and wrestling matches too. Go to a sailing event, I'm sure from looking at the posts on sailing there is plenty there LOL.

I've wanted to go to a sporty event for a while, but I can never seem to find one that I could get to (if I ever see one in events it is occuring when I'd be at work; or would be around 2 am when I might be awake but likely asleep). That and . . um . . what was that called. Geeko? I can't remember :( It is a table game played once. Would like to play that again but never seem to find anyone that wish to play games in SL. Game games, not money games.

Additional theory, he's so sick of her attitude towards him that he /wants/ to spend as much time on the road away from her as possible. I know I would given she's bashing men in every other sentence she writes. I also agree with the "nice guys see her coming and bolt" theory. SL's too big a place with too many good people to deal with this...stuff from a week old newb with a superiority complex.

Edit: Having just taken a look at her profile inworld I agree even more with the latter assessment. Nothing but pure hostility coming from it. No "nice guy" in his right mind is going to read that and give her a second glance.

OK my question is in three parts like on Blind Date.

1) Where do I go in sl to find nice guys with good conversation. I mean straight men that don't think they are god's gift and don't talk as if they are texting. I have tried Sweethearts and Phats because I thought that the odds would be better on finding a diamond in a pile of rocks in a big place but that was a fail.

2) How can I attract the nice guys while scaring off the idiots. Is there any magic I can do with my profile.

3) Less seriously what are the best and worst chat lines you have heard. Don't bother about hi, A/S/L and wanna.... as I have heard them already.

you sound like you are looking for a car lol

One thing to remember, in SL most things and traits are exaggerated and a little cartoony. In SL we are all (for the most part) 25 and beautiful.

LOL Except for me. My 'toon looks in his mid-30s and is definitely more rugged than beautiful. I still wouldn't mind looking like him though.....

You never know where you'll find good relationships. I was just wandering around a noobie place exploring, and I stumbled across a woman that just struck me as interesting. Started talking to her, and the partnership has lasted 6 months so far.......

If you're ever just looking for friendly conversation that is (hopefully) non-idiotic, feel free to drop me a line inworld! I'm always on the lookout for more people to talk to :)

I fully agree. Nothing BUT hostility in that entire profile.

Tone it down if you actually want to even meet a person. It sounds frustrated to me.
If you are or not, is not something I can judge, but sounding like it, is sure to scare people away.

You can also get your message across with more subtile language in your profile.

If you dont wanna change your message, at least change the way you bring that message.

I haven't read the other responses so forgive me if this has already been said.

The "best guys" are most often found when you're not looking.

I've been partnered now for almost 2 years and the LAST thing I was looking for when I came to SL was a man. I had just ended and IRC rp "partnership" of a year and was fending off another guy in my rp group who wanted to partner me.

I met my partner where we were both working and at first didn't like him because he was such a flirt (which was actually part of his job there as manager along with dancing with unescorted ladies). I detest flirts.

One night I was there on my night off and he asked me to dance. We had a great conversation and I saw the man behind the superficial flirting and we have been together since.

The other thing is...whatever you do...don't look or seem "desperate." Back at the club my partner and I worked at, there were a group of regular ladies who stood at the bar and publicly chatted about "Where are all the good men in SL? Why can't I get a date? etc."

I agree entirely. If this -
From: someone
Say "hi" and you are muted
- is a part of the OP's profile, then there are much better ways to get that across to men. An example might be something like:

"I appreciate good conversation and people who will make the effort to engage me in intelligent discourse. Please don't just say 'Hi' as a conversation opener. Make an effort with me, and I will make an effort with you."

That is a much more pleasant way of putting it than, "Say 'hi' and you're muted".

Tell me if you get the joke.

If you don't you haven't got a chance of getting it.

Say "hi" and you are muted

Which tells everyone to get lost.

You know, Annabel....your spelling and grammar ain't too shabby. There's a fellow that mills around here in the forums that you might want to meet.....kind of gather that he feels the same way about women as you do about men.....I bet the two of you could carry on a lengthy, enlightening conversation.

Just give the nod.....there might be a few ladies in this thread who don't have him muted, and can actually relay a message......but don't let that scare you.....I would wager the two of you could tango.

Kind of odd that he hasn't already made the move.

Maybe she could get her husband to join SL and they could meet inworld when he is staying out of town....??? yeah sounds dumb...but she obviously isn't satisfied with any men in sl so far...so why not try to get the man she's already with?
