Late to this thread.

From: someone
OK my question is in three parts like on Blind Date.

1) Where do I go in sl to find nice guys with good conversation. I mean straight men that don't think they are god's gift and don't talk as if they are texting. I have tried Sweethearts and Phats because I thought that the odds would be better on finding a diamond in a pile of rocks in a big place but that was a fail.

Every live music event I've attended (search for the type of music you like)

In addition, two places I've been recently where there have been interesting fellows hanging about:

The Forum Cartel Hangout: http://slurl.com/secondlife/Allana/160/32/37

and Toby's Juke Joint:

http://slurl.com/secondlife/Garden%20City/211/201/30

From: someone
2) How can I attract the nice guys while scaring off the idiots. Is there any magic I can do with my profile.

Um...hmmm. I took a look at your profile, and honestly? It seems a bit cranky...showing not so much your preferences for what you're looking for...as much as sounding...a little bitter, or irritated. I'm sure there are things you could mention in your profile about personal likes/dislikes (e.g.: love to dance...enjoy seeing the sights in SL, interested in/not interested in medieval roleplay; have an interest in Japanese art...those sorts of things)

Now...this phrase:

"I am more likely to respond if you avoid appearing like you are typing with your thumbs."

I wasn't sure what this meant. I mean, most people I know who use a keyboard efficiently...use their thumbs in addition to all their other digits. Did you mean someone who only uses their thumbs? If so, I've seen some pretty speedy two-fingered typists...

From: someone
3) Less seriously what are the best and worst chat lines you have heard. Don't bother about hi, A/S/L and wanna.... as I have heard them already.

best ones? well, upon meeting someone for the first time...a complimentary comment about something in my profile, or if I'm dancing, asking me the name of the particular dance I'm doing, or maybe something about the location we're both in..

worst ones? I really can't think of any...other than the ones already mentioned...although I'd not include "hi" in a list of bad ones. Sometimes it's just what comes to mind. Doesn't bother me in the least...

@JamesMichael the self-described nice guy Long gone? I just have better things to do than post much here. Don't take the brush off too personally. I have revealed more here than I would in sl so I would have said no thanks to anyone from the forums. Selfpraise is no recommendation by the way. :p

@Maureen Two thumbs is how you text. Probably not your style. Thanks for suggesting Toby's. That's the second specific place anyone has mentioned so far. I've been to the Forum Cartel Hangout and most of the time there was noone there and when there was it was ladies.:(

@Soen It sounds as if you have been on that helterskelter you decribe. I think I can seperate fantasy and reality though. I am not in love with James Bond or Daniel Craig.

@Sony Be sure and let us know when you find a nice girl who finds your English quaint. If you read what I asked for it was places where men were not a pimp.

@Mickey and others I don't want to sound ungrateful at your thoughts but most of them read like I had rung up directory enquiries for the number of the nearest Mcdonalds and got a half hour recorded lecture on healthy eating instead. Apart from someone who sent me a few landmarks of pickup places inworld I have only had three definite suggestions of places and mostly criticism of my profile and only a few concrete suggestions on what I should put in it. If any nice but unimaginative men have been reading this they won't have learned much about chat lines either.

Perhaps you will all be pleased to hear that I found a couple of possibles at the pickup places so thank you Pserendipity for those. I went out on a date with one of them last night although he crashed just as it was getting intresting so I have something to look forward to next week. I will look in here anyway to see if anyone has any more ideas as a girl can never have enough men lined up.

OK Cool, Annabel.....glad to hear things are looking up.

FYI - just another tid bit to be ungrateful for....but that crashing thing usually means their wife walked in....or they are just bored or traumatized to tears.....what I mean is....you can usually log right back on after a crash, and pretty darn quick if it is "interesting" enough ....amazing how fast those buttons can be clicked if you have "interesting" on your mind.

Now, if that guy were really sharp.....he would have said they were having thunderstorms.....that way you can get away with crashing and not coming back at all.....and still save face. Just some handy tid bits not included in the health food lecture.

You can thank me some other time for hooking you up with what's-his-name. And I'm sure you will :)

That actually happened to me the first time Amara and I went out. We were having a vicious thunderstorm in Arizona and I lost power for half an hour right in the middle of the date.

I believe the hockey arena is at Jericho Hills or something like that. I've logged off inworld. When I relog i will post exact location. But those interested try that and in search, (yes the dreaded search) look under events tab and select sports. It will bring up all the sporting events listed for the week.

I got this once from someone trying to meet me. He repeated it maybe 10 times -- prolly thinking it would get better with use.

The OP might very well be a troll, but at least not the usual forum antagonist type. We have manage to have a fun time with this thread.
Well it is about meeting guys. That can be cool all by itself. :D

Well I would say if you cannot deal with the idiots you will have a hard time finding the guy you really like. Its maybe a part of the world to turn an idiot into your dream. And I know a bunch of Idiots I really dont want to loose, change or anything else. Most of them are very charming and nice.

Stop looking. You are a woman, they need to find you, not the other way round. The more desparate you behave, the less attractive you are. No guarentee for anything useful to come out though. LOL. So, the next hint would be, stop worrying about it and live your own (second) life.

Lesson leanred in both RL and SL. LOL.

How to find a nice guy? I hear duct-tape and rolling pins work well.

Wouldn't know for sure though, since I caught my husband the ol' fashioned way. I bashed him over the head and dragged his carcass back to my cave.

Well, you DID ask for advice:
From: someone
How can I attract the nice guys while scaring off the idiots.
So, you do sound ungrateful. If you don't mean to, consider learning how to communicate. Consider developing a little empathy. Consider being less of an asshat and you'll be a lot more likely to find a good guy.

Did the possibility occur to you that this is a terribly insulting thing to say? No? Then get a clue.

I'd wish you luck, but I have better things to do.

That's all I have to say on this.
