Sorry Collette.. I wasn't being all serious really.. (to smiley or not to smiley ..is something I can never decide on).

Its cool. Whether 99% or just a more calm 50%, I still fit into the married-cyberer category (though its been a while), and yeah the way the word "Love" gets thrown around in those situations goes overboard quite often.

I just had to stick up for the Momma's Basement Dwellers!**

Despite this, these people get all whiney and snivelly when/if they discover that their SL "soul mate" has been unfaithful.

Yes - this is of course, lame.

But lamer still are those who get distraught when their SL Lover has had RL sex with someone in RL ... 5000 miles away.

Thanks Bilbo for thanking me for sharing my experiance on yahoo, although I havent gone in to much detail, I believe, in Adult chat rooms of days gone by, being somebody else was rife!!

The problem that both me, and the guy/girl guy had in those days, was that we got mostly ignored as guys by real girls! In those days, girls who would be able to afford/run/ no how to oparate a comp were few and far between, old hands like me, who have been computing since say 1995 well know that setting up a dial up connection, was all manual.

So a lot of us got fed up being left out, thus lots of guys pretended to be girls, even sending pics of themselves, of course pinched of an obscure site somewhere.!! Being Sybian Girl for many years was actually quite good for getting free stuff from guys, i even got a job as a mod in one group i belonged too. One american guy i knew well, said the Sybian machine manufactures were in his home town, and would I like one at trade price, shipped to great Britain!!lol but it was still way out of my pocket, so had to decline, last time I talked to him, he was a glass blower, and he was experimenting making dildos in glass, I bet, now, he has a thriving business, as glass dildos are now in most sex shops!:)

I got taken for a ride myself once, i fell for a girl who loved me sending small lezzie vids, he even sent me a photo of herself.....after 4 months it just fizzled out, but by then, i had joined Sapphic Erotica, and who did i find a video of, ?? yes, the pic of the girl the guy had sent me was JO! A well known lezzie photo/vid model..!

Nowadays there a lot of ladies online, really, there is no excuse for pretending to be a girl....as i have said before, Im a TV in RL but a girl in second life, and I have always explained that to new friends, and its shown above my avater, being a TV, obviously we love to dress in female clothes, and I have had many SL girls, from europe mainly, who adore our alternative look, and more importantly, many have said they would rather trust me to give them advice, a cuddle or shoulder to cry on, because they feel hetero males just arent in touch with their fem side....buts thats there opinion .....! not mine lol (thats no offence meant to caring hetero males, just observations by real girls)!!

german and Austrian & swedish/danish ladies seem to be quite at home with TVs or shemales I find! , so not surprising, there are a lot of german shemale TV clubs in SL.

Im quite happy to be who i am, and also I am not decieving anybody, they take me as they find me!!

Love mich

If you read my post, you'll see I didn't miss out singles at all...

It's not my place to judge anyway, just always amazed at the moveable feast that passes for the moral highground in SL.

Damn straight it's not your place to judge. And yet you do...you attribute a double standard to the majority of SL residents.

What we're trying to say is...yes, there are people such as you describe, who have a double standard (it's OK for ME to cheat, but my partner better not!)...but these are (IMO, anyway) in the minority.

Methinks thou art too cynical.

Christopher.....

Just because we had a difference of opinion.. no need to go bad mouthing me all over town.

although "someone with an alt playing games" describes a fair few people in SL I think. I certainly won't be at a loss for company.

I'm not sure that attributing a behaviour to a subset of the population is the same as "judging" them.

I could say that a certain % of men over 50 dye their hair. I might be incorrect in my opinion but at no point do I pass judgement on those who do.

So we're agreed that a certain indeterminate % of people in SL have double standards. My opinion is simply that, for those behaving in this way, it's a bit silly to whine about a lack of fidelity in SL relationships.

At worst, I'm judging the two timing whiners....:)

About as much as your RL lover/partner/wife/husband can trust you.

This sort of stuff always makes me laugh, you have no moral issues with cheating on an RL partner with someone in SL but God forbid your SL "lover" should cheat on you with someone else in SL.

Perhaps your SL "lover" doesn't like the idea that you "cheat" on them whenever you log off.

Pull yourself together people.. in 99% of cases, SL "love" is surreptitious mutual masturbation when you think your RL partner isn't looking.

I understand that there are some genuinely single people out there playing SL, who subsequently meet and fall in love. More power to them is what I say, but really we all know they are a tiny minority.

Don't get me wrong, SL is a place you can do whatever you want, for whatever reason.. just accept it and yourself for what you are and live with it.

lol.. in my defense I did apologise in a later posting.

Although, strictly speaking, I didn't inflate the stats, I completely made them up.

Also.. really.. to the less anally retentive.. 99% is just sort of shorthand for "a lot!".

Obviously if I knew I was submitting a research paper to be assessed and critiqued, rather than messing around over lunch..I might have been more diligent...:)

Awww, you're still a "youngin" *grins* I became involved with PC's when IBM put their desktop on the market in the early 1980's - first worked as a sales rep then parlayed that into teaching adult ed. computer classes at a Jr. college when I realized sales wasn't my thing.

This was all pre-Windows. I fondly remember chat on IRC prior to the mIRC and Pirch clients. As well as BBs's.

And for the record - I'm female RL as well as SL. ;)

Bad mouthing and stating the obvious are two different things.

This part cracked me up and made me feel really old -- I graduated with a BS in Computer Science in 1983. I must be a really really really old hand.

Thankyou again Mich. A spookily coincidental thing happened tonight. I logged my oldest girl for a little shape-shifting .. she does little else these days .. and I got IM-ed by a girl 'she' had a crush on in her earlier, darker days. It was a good reunion. A lot of water had flowed under our bridges so we had a bit of catching up to do. Now I'd always made clear that my alts were fiction. Yes, the feelings and emotions were me but the images were pure fabrication. Tonight, my 'crush' from a year ago turns out to be the same as my own situation. We parted still as friends. No harm done. No deceit, no lies. Happy memories.

To the OP: We communicated, we agreed the ground rules. We escaped the drama.
