Ban, No Entry
11-06-2008 21:51
I have not owned land on the Mainland before and don't know the answer to this question. Can a property owner put up No Entry Ban's for property in Nautilus?

Are you talking about red banlines? I haven't seen a rule stating that they can't. People have been known to put them up by mistake though, especially new land owners. So, if it seems like that might be the case, a polite IM can sometimes get them taken down.

If there is a really aggressive security orb, that might be ARable, but I don't think banlines are.

Thanks Nim, I was out tooling around in one of the sims and bam#*$%^ hit the red ban lines. I might drop the owner a polite IM tomorrow. Funny thing, he has two parcels side by side but only one with the banlines.

It is really easy to switch them on when you are fiddling around with parcel controls, and since the owner doesn't see them, you don't even know you've done it. Especially since they are only on in one of two parcels, I think a polite IM is fine.

I don't think there's a sim/estate setting that lets you control if people can use them..

If LL didn't want access lines on Nautiuls, they'd have to tell me that then go around and periodically enforce it manually..

That map is starting to look mighty yellow.

(By the way, did anyone figure out why the Map is still grayed-out?)

It, along with the timing of openspace price changes happening at the same time, is a plot by the Lindens!! Er.. A plot to make Nautilus auctions harder to sort out and cause their prices to drop! Uh..

Never mind.

I did notice anecdotally that there are Nautilus residents and businesses beginning to settle into their parcels. In next Monday's report I'll add the number of parcels in each sim if that would be helpful to people.

Make a nicer sign
11-07-2008 19:02
I thought of making a nicer 'For sale' sign that match Nautilus theme to distribute free to all land seller.

Maybe give them Copy/Transfer perm.

But currently I'm busy building my shophouse. Anyone here want to volunteer to make one?

{sigh} For an early Christmas present to myself, I bought a Nautilus parcel on a resale. Based on the price statistics (thank you, Jean!), it looks like my lot had a fairly reasonable mark-up.

I'm really interested in seeing how the overall land planning will play out for any SL resident as the area is settled: plenty of buffer zones, public access to the shore areas and Linden builds, either a build or a 'natural' land/water feature near every lot or lot cluster. It is a very attractive concept for Mainland.

My only beef so far is with the cedar trees that were on the lot when I bought it. I can't edit them to move them (on edit, everything is blank). I did manage to position my free house to avoid foliage poking through the walls.

A few areas down I noticed one landowner chopped his trees down. But I haven't seen a a stump grinder in search ......

Go to the market just south of the drydock at the west end of Nautilus. The trees are available in one of the boxes or jars there, so you can return the Linden-owned ones and replace them.

That would need to read "TERRA VENUM" (or "TERRA VENVM" if it's carved).

Hi June, great to have you in Nautilus! and delighted the research helped. You're points on overall land planning are important for Nautilus to develop. I hadn't realized this until we rode our horses along the southern shoreline. The natural land/water features are important elements. It will also be interesting to see if and how Nautilus residents use some of the public gathering places. All in all, should be fun. Great to have you in Nautilus.
