From: Jean Swashbuckler Tomorrow appears to be the last day for Nautilus auctions.

- 9:00 am - 7 parcels, all seven parcels are in Gisco.

- 10:00 am - 7 parcels, all seven parcels are in Himilco.

- 11:00 am - 7 parcels, all seven parcels are in Malchus.[/QUOTE

I noticed 44 purple squares a few minutes ago, but that's probably just a case of the map not being updated yet. (So nice to have the detail back, instead of that expanse of gray!)

What I'm wondering about are all the part-land sims, some larger in land area than sims in which parcels WERE auctioned (such as Bomilcar).

Has some Linden said that Edin, Mysehi, etc. definitely will NOT have Auction-parcels set on them? (Just curious....)

Edin and Mysehi,

Both are OpenSim class regions... that's where the riding/hiking trails are.

Probably won't have any residences on them... just trees, some rocks and some water.

Did u all see a 120m tower at Himilco?

I can see it from Elissa. Its 398 prims. Owner has another one at Malchus.

Damn, she has 3 towers in Himilco. All set to not for sale. She has one parcel in Elissa set for sale. But no tower. What's her strategy?

Good question Ponsonby. I haven't seen anything that says definitively they won't have a few parcels auctioned. I do remember touring them early on and they are all Open Sims. Suspect they will remain land.

Ahh, TexasKAt beat me to the answer so I am redundant after all lol.

No, not redundant, as you added the info that you hadn't seen anything about it, and I know you're one of the people reading all that LL puts out about this project (I try but it's more hit and miss with me).

The fact that they have the lesser-server situation probably does let them out as possible auction sites. Though I suppose LL could change that if they wished...

I think I saw the towers you referred to. Her strategy, if I had to guess, was to skirt the new advertising/land griefing policies. If she set the parcels for sale she might get AR'd. If she doesn't, she can make the parcels as ugly and disruptive as she likes and begin sales negotiations at whatever price a desperate neighbor floats her way. (In fact, some people may start with an offer that is higher than she could have gotten for a typical parcel since they want to buy something that isn't even "for sale" in order to clear an eyesore.)

Just because they aren't set for sale, doesn't mean they can't be sold.

Greetings neighbours

Somehow I was lucky enough to win an auction at Nautilus - Eshmun for a reasonable price (about 40K) right near the water.

So far the people in Eshmun are staying on theme and apart from the land barons selling for silly prices (80k - 120K) I think its going well.

I really love the idea of having a structured mainland sim with protected green areas. I am loving it and hope that, once the prices come down to more reasonable levels 25k - 45K more people are going to move in.

There is some amazing builds so far and some pretty ordinary ones, but it is SO MUCH BETTER then the normal mainland.

I love the freedom of not being on a covenant and just dang love it!

Thank you Lindens, this was a great idea and I hope you continue with the idea of themed mainland sims.

If I may make a suggestion I think that you may want to consider a sci-fi Alien world theme for your next big mainland build.

And to those people trying to resell plots for 100K+ LOL good luck with that.

NOTE: This is the final auction for Nautilus parcels.

Now it will be very interesting to see how the resale market shakes out. (Again, another great topic for a business-school thesis!)

I didn't intend to participate in that market, as I take a certain amount of pride in taking large parcels (10, 20, 30K meters and up) and making them accessible to those who don't really care to pay USD800 or so for a parcel.

But I had a lot of good sales and had the Lindens, so, did end up buying six parcels, three of which I'll definitely sell. In trying to fix prices I flew all around and saw a HUGE variety of prices, even within the same general level of attractiveness (eg 'not on the Citadel but near it', 'fronting on the Canal', 'unblocked Sea view', etc.)

In the next few days and weeks we will, no doubt, see a leveling of these prices.

In the meantime, I hope that we can all enjoy the unique atmosphere and attractions of Nautilus City!

Point well taken Ponsonby. I've only been to a few of the sims today but many are starting to create in-theme buildings which is great to see. This is where the level of creativity will start to appear.

And for those of you who have not seen Braun Galli's Citadel Park in Anath, you should walk through it. The nighttime view is fabulous.

At some point, we ought to begin thinking about organizing something. The impromptu horse ride several of us had last week was fun. Then there was the discussion on the Dolphin Temple and several of us ended up there. There are some great places to get together all across Nautilus.

Yes, there's a real 'best of both worlds' aspect to the NC sims: there's the theming and the sense of graciousness that comes from planning that includes common spaces, which reflects the advantages of Estates; yet there's the sense of 'belonging to all Residents' that's one of the best parts of Mainland.

Thanks to Jean Swashbuckler for following the auctions so closely!

Myself and the Moles are glad to see so many people enjoying this mysterious city.

We'll have to encourage Magellan Linden to explore more 'holes' in the map of the Mainland.

Thanks June and Michael. We are excited to be in Nautilus and helping to create something new and fun. The Nautilus/Atlantis/Greek/Roman/Phoenician, etc theme is great to work with and we're sure a lot of the residents will create inspiring and new Nautilus themed creations, builds, and products. This will help all residents who live, shop, or visit Nautilus enjoy the Theme.

Michael, yes encourage Magellan to continue exploring. As importantly, thank the Moles for their hard work for completing Nautilus. We also hope they left some additional hidden treasures or places for us to continue finding. That's part of the fun in Nautilus.

Say guys where can I get my hands on the textures and free stuff for Nautilus. I've got the full range of houses but I could really use the textures used in the builds..I want to build a few Nautilean type variations.

The textures are also available in the marketplace, where the houses are. There are a row of boxes with textures on the western wall, and the tall, skinny urns with handles on them lined up as you face south have the house textures.

Have fun building!

While I'm here..is anyone else having problems rezzing stuff (such as entire Nautilus buildings) on their plots. I had to persevere 'big time' yesterday to rezz a building and today I've been trying to join two neighbouring plots without success..keeps telling me 'only the owner blah blah blah'

Eh hello..I just paid 70000 buck's and I am most definitely the owner!!

Really frustrating..

Ugh. I had the exact same problem there last night. I'd made a custom build that spanned two adjoining parcels on my sky platform. I took a copy to Nautilus, and it simply would not let me rez it. Eventually I had to settle for rezzing it in pieces and then re-aligning them again on site.

The build fit the site with room to spare, but rezzing it all at once was a total no-go.

You cannot join plots in Nautilus, terraforming is turned off and joining parcels is a terraforming feature. Sorry its bad news though.
