Nautilus Land Research Report - Auction update
12-04-2008 12:40
I finally had an opportunity to summarize the auction data and put it into what I hope is a usable format.
A brief review for folks who did not keep up with this during the Nautilus Land Auction phase. There are 45 regions in Nautilus. The auctions were limited to 24 Sims/Regions. Each Sim contained between 9 and 28 1,024m parcels. These parcels cannot be split or joined. The first round of Nautilus Auctions took place on October 26th at 9:00 am and the final of the 61 rounds concluded at 11:00 am on November 14th. In all, there were 549 parcels auctioned over the course of 14 days. I have accurate data on 518 of the 549 parcel closing prices. I did not capture the first two rounds on October 26. All the other rounds had data captured immediately after closing. That data was referenced in the earlier Nautilus Land Research Reports which are sprinkled throughout this thread. I also printed off the SL Auction Closing Reports but did not begin doing this until after October 26th had rolled off the site. The SL Auction Closing Reports serve as a backup to the original data that was captured at each auction's close. Now for the highlights on the 518 out of 549 parcels. Total Auction Closing Sales: L$ 29,079,004. Yes, there was actually a sale that ended in L$4. Average Auction Closing Price (518 out of 549 parcels): L$ 56,137.07 Median Auction Closing Price (518 out of 549 parcels): L$ 50,230.00 You will find a Nautilus Land Research Report Summary in three different vendors in Nautilus for a nominal fee of L$199. The individual Sim Report is available for L$299/Sim. The vendors are at: - http://slurl.com/secondlife/Nautilus%20-%20Yamm/100/47/23 - http://slurl.com/secondlife/Nautilus%20-%20Anath/166/136/65 - http://slurl.com/secondlife/Nautilus%20-%20Himilco/124/127/65 The Nautilus Land Research Report Summary contains auction closing data for the 518 of 549 parcels. The Summary provides a Nautilus map with each Sim numbered. The information for each Sim includes the highest and lowest parcel prices sold at auction. The report also includes the Sim's average parcel price. You will also find an individual Nautilus Land Research Report Summary for each of the 24 Sims. Currently, 9 Sim reports are up and I hope to have the remaining Sims up within a week. The 9 Sims are Baal, Dido, Hannibal, Himilco, Kothar, Malchus, Shahar, Shalim, and Yamm. Each Nautilus Land Research Report by Sim contains auction closing information for each of the 24 Sims. You will find a map with parcel numbers tied to Sim coordinates. The Report also contains the auction closing date and price for each parcel. Finally, the Report contains the Total Auction Closing Sales and Median Closing Price for the Sim. I hope this information may prove useful to people interested in Nautilus and the Nautilus Auction process and results. |

Fascinating - Atlantean Egyptian Colony
12-17-2008 15:30
I was looking at the map today and noticed two regions south of Gisco and Hamilcar that looked like they are being set up for auction...and then, looking to the east there is a region that is under development.
This a mainland region named Foresta and it is across the water from Hamilcar (south). Looking at the About Land it's titled "Atlantean Egyptian Colony." It is laid out in a similar fashion to Nautilus. The roads use the same textures and the buildings are the same. The is a nice cascading waterfall area. The dockyard has a number of large galleys in it. The outer docks are similar in style to the Nautilus Harbor district. There appears to be a mall under construction. The buildings look like they will be rented. All in all, it looks likes a nicely developing area along the Nautilus theme. Personally, I am glad this is developing on another Mainland region across from Nautilus. I think the themed work will increase the "old world" content available for residents. Nautilus, Atlantis, Egyptian, Roman, Greek and other "old world" civilizations (historic or written about) have a rich cultural history and would be great to have depicted in SL. While you can't enter the region you can check it out by getting close. Cheers! |

Nautilus Summary Land Sales Report
02-03-2009 21:02
I wanted to give everyone interested in Nautilus City land sales a brief report by sim of how many parcels are for sale. This report is similar to the ones we did during the auctions. As you know, parcel sales are fluid. This data is current within the last 48 hours. Cheers...Jean

Hmm, Yamm is seeing some high prices! What's up there? Hi Michael, excellent question and delighted you asked. The two L$500k parcels have been set at this price since mid-November when the auctions were completed. Both parcels are owned by one resident. Unlike the remaining parcels in Yamm which are grouped together, these are located side-by-side facing the water on the NE side of the sim. Several residents have wondered about the prices since there is nothing special about these parcels except they are right on the Harbor. One is marked up 261% from its auction closing price. The other is marked up 256%. These two parcels are the highest priced parcels in Nautilus City. There is also one parcel priced at L$499,888 in Anath. The third parcel was originally listed at L$499,000 on November 10 and has been dropping by L$1,000 a day since November 22 when it was reset to L$349,000 and then advertised with L$1,000 a day price reduction until sold. It still has not found it's selling price. |

There were 6 for sale around me for a long time. Now there are only 2. One new one seems to involve some gaming thing in the sky. 20 green dots there routinely spotted. _____________________

I can't tell you how much fun this thread has been to follow.
I'm over 2 years in SL now, but during the first 18 months of that time I didn't follow closely the goings on over here. So this was the first time I really watched a new region come into being and be auctioned off. It was fascinating! And Nautilus is so beautiful and fun. I kept finding myself going back over and over and looking at parcels for sale trying to talk myself into buying two. In the end I chose not to because I already own 3 parcels, 1 on a private island the 2 on mainland and with the economy such as it is I just can't justify another one. But I still wish I could! Thank you all for making this so much fun and I really really really look forward to the next one coming online! I hope its even a more fun theme than Nautilus was! Cheers all! Handy |

Hi Lexxi, you are so right...parcels for sale and the pricing is a moving target. Each of the sims is different. Several weeks ago, Adherbal had a large number of parcels for sale. Now it has none, with one resident owning most of the sim's parcels. I've noticed the gaming group you mentioned and just popped over to Eshmun to follow up on your note. I'm getting a lot of lag with the meters saying it's network and server (too many scripted objects). I don't seem to remember this earlier in the week. Are there really 19 people in the sky on that one parcel? Always seems to be 19 or 20 when I look at the map. edit: WoW, I managed to get into Eshmun from Shahar before the lag wall hit me. It's right at that parcel you mentioned and the traffic count as 17173. |

Well, that certainly shelves my plans for the land I have in that sim. heh. I do not know if really 19 or 20 people there as I've never actually seen any of them. _____________________

Lot of lag. Permanent clump of people in the sim. I smell a botfarm.

Lot of lag. Permanent clump of people in the sim. I smell a botfarm. Maybe. I do not see anything for sale on the ground, and the land description does not imply it is a store, so I am not sure what the farm would be doing. Maybe they want to drive up the traffic number and then try to sell the land at a higher price to someone that doesn't really understand traffic numbers and how they work. If traffic bots are involved. _____________________

I do not know if really 19 or 20 people there as I've never actually seen any of them. I hesitated to even mention the lag but thought you might have noticed it. If you haven't then maybe the server is having a bad hair day. I didn't see it earlier in the week when I was in Eshmun so it may have nothing to do with that parcel at all. But it does look kinda interesting that there is always roughly the same number there. |

Lot of lag. Permanent clump of people in the sim. I smell a botfarm. Up at 3000m, there's a box that currently has 17 bots in it, all with a last name Erin First names are a textfollowed by a number from 1 up. All born 2nd jan, 2009 Add: At 300m there are 10 Zyngo machines. The lag in that sim is awesome! And the simple lag meter, Sim goes solid read and network flickers bwtween amber and red. Muppets! _____________________

Hmm, I poked around in Yamm this morning. Reported and removed a huuuuge megaprim at 3000 meters, didn't see a bot farm or gambling stuff.
I hope you all are reporting any casino activity, very naughty that. As for bot farms ... hmm ... well, if they seem to be Up To No Good, report those! |

The Bot Farm at 3000 that I mentioned above was in Eshmun. I droped by simply because people here were unclear about what was going on there. The gambling there at 300 was of the Zyngo variety. Some people say this is a game of pure skill. I dropped by Eshum again earlier today. The lag wall jump as you cross into the sim is still remarakable. I didn't mess around a whole sim poking at things to determine the cause. If people want to spend a L$gazillion on a 1024, I think that they should look after their own neighbour-lag. (She said, licking at her saucer of milk.) In any case, without estate powers, it's a normally a guessing game. Other threads have guessed/questioned the effects and acceptablity of megaprims. You (Michael) wouldn't perchance be open to telling us what moved you to report/remove the Megaprim? Was it causing problems? Or maybe it was simply multi-sim sized or rezzed by J.Random over a parcel with build for all on? _____________________
