okay hehe
here is the official appoligize
(and sorry for my bad english but english arent my first language)

I am sorry this got this far it was never my intention.
it started as payback but ended in a mean dissgussion.

however i would like to say I am sorry to Launa for the hug situation long time ago.
sorry to mistress for selling her hair (its off sale now)
and sorry to siggy who dont know I was new when I sold his hottub... I didnt know the rules back then!

I will not be reading more about this so if you have something to say to me send me an IM in game please!

Imagoel :D

First, a word of advice (besides not selling someone else's items), if you are writing an apology do not use smiley faces or write "hehe" as it diminishes the apology and makes it look like the person apologizing is not really sorry for what they did.

Second, the problem with this sort of behavior is that LL has not done anything to punish the people that sell other's creations. A suitable punishment could be removal from the Mentor's Group, since this kind of behavior is not one that can be considered an example (since Mentors should be role models to other players). Another suitable punishment could be some sort of suspension. By allowing this sort of behavior to go unpunished it sets a precedent to others that they can do this as well without having any negative consequences (except for the disgust from the SL Community, which has not proven effective since the behavior has occured before). It might be my inner psychologist talking, but I do believe in positive reinforcement when it's due and punishment for negative behavior when it's neccessary. :)

Third, it takes a lot to get Fran all ticked-off and you have done it. Congrats on getting on the sh1t l1st of someone who I consider one of the sweetest people in SL.

I'll second this. It's quite a feat to have accomplished.
I actively TRY to piss fran off, and she still <3's me.

Imagoel: I was hoping, after our IMs, and our hopeful resultion, that you would have fixed this situation. Yet, stolen goods still remain in Launa's hug attachment. How do I know? Granted Launa is a dear friend of mine - but I considered you a friend of mine, as well, before all this began. Her custom made animation in Poser is still featured prominently in your object.

I don't know if someone sold you a "free to copy, free to mod, free to f in the a" version of it... but at this point... its time to admit, if you DID NOT MAKE IT, DON'T SELL IT, is the only way to go. If you intentions were truly honorable, then my point is fully underlined. IF YOU DIDN'T MAKE IT... DON'T SELL IT.

Only those reading the forums have complained about your resale of their objects... how many who NEVER read the forums are out there? How many have left the game, and have a script they intended to be free, that you were sold by "someone", are out there? I hope you appreciate this fact. AGAIN... if you DID NOT make it in its entirity, I reiterate... DO NOT SELL IT.

If I were you, I'd take down ANYTHING I was selling that was not created by myself 100%. As in, scripts, anims, textures, EVERYTHING. That's the only right thing to do. It sounds to the outside world that:

(1) You're a scam artist... OR
(2) You're a mid-level drug dealer crying foul... OR
(3) You're selling copyrighted goods that you claim you didn't know were copyrighted.
(4) You're not aware of the DMCA (which is a load of crap, but the only game in town) or that SL is operated under US law, even if you're an SL citizen outside of the US.

Copyright is somewhat inherent in SL after their announcement that got ME to join... in November of 2003, where they declared objects created in SL were the property of the creator. This was what intrigued me to join, after reading an article on Slashdot on 2004-11-13.

Catherine's assessment, is, as usual, flawless. Imagoel, I've helped you in the past with scripts, so I don't doubt your claim that you've sought out people to write scripts for you.

In the future, heed the advice given throughout this thread. Being an entrepreneuse is not as easy as it seems. Your heart may be in the right place, but never let the almightly L$ supercede what is truly important in SL... creativity. If you want to make a new product, that involves scripting and animation... either teach yourself, of hit the road.

Being a middle (wo)man in a world where things can be easily stolen is a LOSER'S GAME.

Regards,

-Flip

Actually Fran is notoriously abusive and has a very short fuse. Especially when she is drinking bourbon right from the plastic bottle. We all lived in terror of her and that studded leather belt she would use to beat us when she was on an opium binge. I still have a scar on my inner thigh where you can almost read the mirror image of "NRA FOREVER" from Fran's belt buckle.

But I've said too much already... :O I hear footsteps coming to my room. NO FRAN...NOOOOOO

Given Aimee's last post, I shall continue to post to the forums while quite drunk, and wearing the bondage belt, with my club of limited smiting, and overall INYOURFACEness.

By the way, I'm quite cute when I have my club of relative smiting, and my overall subtle queues of TIME FOR LINDEN INTERVENTION. :-)

Ok, is this thread surreal enough for everyone yet?

Lots of lame excuses for some VERY bad behavior.

If you didnt make it, dont sell it. If you didnt make it and decide to sell it, EAT YOUR PIE.

Wow! Neil sounds like a little girl when he screams!

I never said I disaggreed with you ... I mean its not ok what she did ... and ofcause lindens should do something about it... perhaps make it not able for people to sell others objects... tho I heard people talking about this in SL and people are saying ... they are giving her a hard time... that means ... GIVE HER A BREAK ... she got it ... and she said she was sorry ... then why go on....
BTW its not ok to post someones name on the forums... right?

Yes. It IS okay, depending on the circumstances. Dork.

For those pondering whether or not it's ok to name names, I started a thread about that a while back and Robin eventually came out from behind the tree and said that yes, naming names is ok as long as they're not used in a personal attack.

As far as this issue goes;

-Reselling without permission is low.

-Knowingly continuing to do so after you have been informed that the creators want you to stop is plain childish.

-Neg rating said creators in retribution is pathetic.

-Making excuses for bad behavior seems to be the latest trend in SL and the forums, and it's really saddening.

What is the deal with saying *I learned my lesson...* (the Siggy hot tub incident) and then going ahead and selling multiple people's items MONTHS later? If that's learning then I guess I went to the wrong schools.

That's all I have to say other than that I suppose I had better fly over there and see if any of my stuff is there. Wouldn't be the first time I have found items of mine for sale without my knowledge or permission.

I just wish the Lindens would get off thir butts, and enforce crap like this. Particularly when it's what the majority of customers want. What are they so worried about that they are too paralyzed by fear to act? A potential lawsuit? Hell, maybe WE should sue if they DON'T act. Hmmm, CAN we sue them for harboring virtual thieves?

Nope. Linden Lab isn't liable, and aren't required to do anything unless you file an official DMCA complaint with them.

What Mistress was implying was that you are an ALT, that is, one of Imagoel Best's alternate accounts. She suspects this because

1. The only time you ever posted on the forums were your comments just now.
2. While your account was created 3 months ago, you only have a few ratings which imply your account is seldom used.
3. For an account with such low milage you are very plugged into forum politics.
4. You are one of the few officers of European (a group founded by Imagoel Best). Muffin Boffin is another officer oddly enough.
5. You are one of the officers of Clan Morgan/Best along with Imagoel Best.
6. You are a member of TwisterRadio with Imagoel Best as an officer.
7. Broken engrish.
8. Identical misspellings and ... typing style (Thank you HoseQueen)

While a few of these points could simply imply that you are good friends with Imagoel, put them all together and I think Mistress suspected you are an Alt.

1 yes I never posted on the forums before ... and the reason I didnt it because I never used it before... and the reason I do now is because Ima told me you guys were talking about her.

2 yes I am very new in the game and only play it when RL allow me to have the time.

3 did you ever think that I might be from Denmark as Ima? I mean why would you asume I am her just because I dont type well? I am a friend of hers ... she talked so well about this game and I joined... but I am not her! lol

All signs point to an alt.

Besides, you're been in SL since... what, September? You shoudl know that in a mob-mentality such as SL, you are guilty until proven innocent.

PLUS.

You need to grasp the concepts of Living a Happy Second Life:

1) Everyone you meet is a male, regardless of avatar.
2) Every new person you meet is the alt account of someone you already know. See rule 1.
