So lets recap...

Imagoel accidentally boxed up Items that were not hers to sell.
Accidentally re-named the items.
Accidentally took screenshots.
Accidentally designed box art with these screenshots.
Accidentally put them out for sale.

yes I had items that were almost similar ... so yes I put them in boxes and took screenshots!

when I get an apoligy from the midnight city people I will take that off sale too... because as I said... I had two items that were called the same and put the wrong ones in my vendor!

I am a very forgivan person IRL and I guess that is why I dont get this taggin me ... so Midnight city people... lets talk it over and Ill remove the objects.

Haha,
NO.
You're selling my stuff and I negged you for it, and YOU want an apology?
cute! :)
Let's see what the lindens think of this.
by your own confession you ARE selling my things and refuse to stop doing so unless I apologize?
cute! :)

As a good policy... if you didn't create it, DO NOT SELL IT!

I don't care if Stalin was the creator, let alone the Midnight crew, if you didn't make it, and you know you're selling a stolen item, don't sell it! I don't care if they're mean or not, its still their intellectual property.

Also, don't sell items that borrow "friends" scipts or anything like that. Who is this friend who claimed they had written the hug script? I'd reconsider them as a friend considering that's a flat out lie.

Bottom line: If you didn't make it - DO NOT SELL IT. :-)

OK... here's how the rating actually happened... not that I owe an explanation..
launa sent me a snapshot of my braids, i went over and confirmed,..sent that IM... no response at ALL so I went back to umber and started whining about it..
I negg'ed her, and so did my husband... and chances are other people around when i was whining may have been inclined to neg as well, if they felt the behavior imagoel displayed was worthy of a neg or two ;)

Hi mistress ... no you dont owe an explanation and but I do ... and if you didnt read from before I put out wrong objects. I will consider the smiley as we are able to talk things through ... and I will tell you that I will gladly remove the hair...

the reason I didnt was because I got mad because I felt you guys treated me wrong ... and I felt you were tagging me for something that was a mistake...

I am now taking down the hair in my vendors and I hope you will accept my apoligize.

Taking it down is not enough.

Do you have record of how many of Mistress's items you sold in the past month? That's Mistress's money and she should get it.

I mean I order a script from someone and how would I know that he/she didnt make it?

But you made some.

Ergo, compensation isn't that bad of a thing.

Make sure you implicitly trust the person doing the coding. Most decent coding projects take more than five minutes; ask to see initial versions, bug testing versions, release candidates. Even as someone who does not script, you'll be able to notice the progression through the coding process this way. Its kind of like "showing your work" when doing mathetmatics exercises instead of just a final answer, and shows that the actual process was gone through.

It also seems the items you are selling aren't necessarily creative ideas; you did a hot tub after you saw one made by Siggy, you copied hair types prim for prim after you saw some done by Mistress and Washu (if yours are so close to the ones they made, which you happened to have in your inventory, so you could make this mistake, I'm guessing this is what you did), and decided to make a hug attachment after you saw one done by Launa. Others in the thread have complained too, to this is clearly more than a one time mistake, but a recurring pattern.

If you're hiring scripters to copy someone else's idea, you're already on a slippery slope as someone with questionable morals could easily sell an already written script to you which was meant to be free, or was stolen through an exploit. You're just asking for trouble there.

See what I'm getting at? You can still does business with scripts, but at least get a cursory understanding of the scripting language if you wish to sell scripted objects, or someone you know VERY well to be a partner. Otherwise, you risk alienating the entire community through something that may not have been your intention.

As for copying other peoples' hair types prim for prim, I can't say that I approve at all. It sounds to me like a crappy metal band covering a classic Pink Floyd tune.

You can make a hug attachment if you want to in SL - but MAKE IT.

The code for the hug attachment is very complex (I haven't written my own, but know what is involved)... Poser is also very complex. Unless you have a firm understanding of the tools required to build a hug attachment, I don't think selling them is quite a good idea. Maybe recommend it to a friend who is an excellent scripter with Poser skills. Otherwise you leave yourself exposed to the less-than-moral crowd looking to make a buck off of other peoples' hard work.

no what is silly, is you are a thief and you found excuses to make it seem ok, and to be honest, Mistress and I do not even get along, it has nothing to do with "her" it has everything to do with you.

Thanks, Imagoel. Take it as a learning experience; and please heed the advice given. This is a rather touchy subject, even more so than people seeling freebie items... because this was caused by a bug in the SL code.

I am simply blown away after reading this thread in its entirety. This person not only stole other people's work, made a profit, did it over and over again... but has now admitted it, and still has suffered no formal consequences?

I have known people who have been suspended for swearing or showing nudity in a PG area, in a game that is supposed to be 18 and over only, and yet an admitted thief is free to go and find someone else to rip off.

This is certainly not incentive for those of us who work hard making and selling our ORIGINAL creations.

I know all this has been said before, but like I said... blown away.

Interesting... her "new hug" has scripts by her.... Who is to say she didnt just copy the scripts into her own. It's not that hard.

The fact of the matter is she is STILL using my animation.

There's an "old" proverb which goes something like:

"A tree planted in molten lava doesn't grow."

With that in mind, self-justification can only go so far, but in time, the foundation of a house that was constructed shoddily with cut corners -- despite advice to the contrary freely available -- will make itself embarassingly apparent next to a timeless masterpiece.

The aforementioned was stylized. :)

That being said, I will state I am in openly biased defense of the artistic excellence of the "Midnight City Mafia" (I used to call 'em a "Crew", but I guess that's so unhip now), as well as affiliated peoples who I've come to know and be inspired by in SL.

I don't like seeing my friends have to contend with this in addition to everything they've already got going on. There's enough trouble in the world. This is by no means targeted at anyone but is a general shout-out for the following:

When in doubt... PLEASE ASK. Open communication is better than stonewalled "no hellos". Then we can strive towards a goal of being happy, shiny, people! With a unified vision of a bright future! Wheee!!! :D
