Is it wrong to post a landmark to a place...

...to warn folks that they might be selling your stuff without your permission?

I can't post names, obviously, but what about a place?

There's at least two items here that aren't allowed to be resold, but are... all the items have "nobody" creator tags on them, oddly enough.

Thoughts?

Seems like posting a place (location) should be all right to me.

we always have and nobody, to my knowledge has every been repremanded for it.

i've not seen any of those posting be editing or deleted either.

There's another pirated store across the street owned by the same person.

PLease check and make sure your items have not been yoinked underneath you and sold.

Most of the items that are pirated have a "nobody" creator tag, so it's obviously an exploit.

Not to hijack your thread, but I just would like to point out one tiny thing..

If an item has "nobody" as creator, it is not a sure fire way of telling it's pirated or that something wrong is being done. I just don't want people to assume "creator: nobody" automatically means pirated.

Reason I know this is because when I switched from my old avatar (Fem Daguerre) to my new one (Stormy), I gave alot of Fem's inventory to Stormy, including some particles Fem had created. When I built my parcel streams radios (using Stormy) and used Fem's particle scripts on the speakers, it made my radios show "nobody" as creator while in inventory, but when taken out they showed "Stormy" as creator. I just figured out this week why that was happening infact.

If someone pays a scriptor to write a script for them which is copiable and transferable, which they can ligitmately resell with the permission of the creator, unless they copy the script's text into a new script they create, the same thing will happen I'm quite sure.

But anyhow, carry on. That was my 2c.

Hmmm, the "pirated store" looks like it's full of knock offs. For example the babies are not Andie's design, and the skates are not Moopf's design (although close enough to fool ya). Now, perhaps this person did take the objects and tweak them a little, but the only way to be sure would be to check scripts.

I looked, my hair french braids were being sold.. and that DOESN'T say "nobody" as the creator... says "Mistress Midnight" lovely person we have here...

I think this is a problem we will never be able to stop. People will always find ways to resell others creations. Unfortunetly, all content creators of all kinds will always have to deal with this.

Why does everyone assume you can't post a name? As long as you aren't giving out personal info or posting chat logs, I am almost sure you can name anyone you wish. However, personal attacks will just get the thread closed.

I think Lordfly was being cautious because accusing someone of stealing other people's goods and selling them could be considered slandering them in the forums.

But what Lordfly doesn't realize is, stealing other people's goods and selling them is behavior protected and approved of by the Lindens, so his post could not possibly be slanderous.

Personally I dont see the problem with posting names, if somone is burning me I would gladly share their name and the names of the items they ripped and where its being sold.

I also have an item in one of the person's stores. They arent just knockoffs... Francis' scripts are in it and my animation.
The frenchbraid pigtails say nobody untill you buy them actually. Pretty odd if you ask me.

That is fucked up. I have talked to Imogel Best many times. In fact Imogel made a hookah for me before. I am very disappointed. If this is true Imogel, SHAME ON YOU!

I think this may be a chance for Philip Linden to put his money where his lip service is. Someone needs to take him to this place and have him tell us straight up if he sides with content creators or the rip-off resellers.

Yes we absolutely should. If the Lindens are going to do nothing about this, then we need to be looking out for each other.
