This whole thread is no one's business; it wasn't even Ryen's business to be posting it here, quite honestly. It's like the one last thing he intended to do "before he left forever" was cause an uproar in the forums. It bewilders me. If he was ever appreciative of support or hurt by the lack of it in this thread--it's beyond me. I can't comprehend it. After all, he's said over and over that Second Life is just a game. Right..?

My deal is that he's clearly posted on another site requesting mass negative ratings of a player in Second Life. Then, he pulls the, "I can't believe I got in trouble even though I'm friends with the Lindens," raising the fact that somehow beyond all the talk of it in the forums, Ryen both accepts and depends on favoritism. ?! I can't figure out why I'm the only one seeing this, that, while he might have been really nice and all, he had some shady second life (ahem) that was total opposite to the person of character which we enjoy. It's just too sketchy.

Truth be told, now that I have calmed down a bit (we all say things out of anger) I believe I will be sticking around, although there are a few things that will be changing with my second life.

1.I will be selling all my land and converting to a basic account.
2.I will be canceling Tartarus, or perhaps moving it to another platform (When a company bans my friends old account and suspends mine, I dont feel wanted by that particular company. Thus I dont feel like giving money to that company, that may change in time however). All tartarus would have given to LL was another marketing tool, and it could have bought many action gamers into second life, increasing player based as well as overall profit.

sadly, there isnt a #3, sorry!

Edit: I dont want people to think I dont want to do the tartarus project. I still want to do it as im typing this, but under current conditions that just wont happen.

All I have to say is that back in May of this year, I bought land in Baku at auction, when the Sim was first released. Over the road, an organization called 'W-Hat' built its HQ. As time progressed, I saw gruesome builds of cows being squashed, aborted babies lying in pools of blood, and was often pushed to the edge of the Sim by members while AFK next to my house. A stream of effluent spewed into the river next to my property.

My very nice neighbor explained to me that her RL boyfriend was a large part of this group, and that it was just "a different kind of humor". She convinced both myself and him to reverse our negative ratings. We came to an odd kind of equilibrium and mutually existed there until I moved out in August. Since then, I have had no contact with any W-Hat member at any event or on my property, except that my friendship with my original 'adversary' grew as we both served on Live Help together.

This thread is the first time that I have had explained to me that W-Hat is a group representing people from a particular web site (which I have never heard of) and a particular behavior pattern. In my not inconsiderable experience in Second Life, it sounds like this group's aims are at odds with most of the other residents, and such clashes are inevitable. We are witnessing a culture clash and attempts on both sides to decide an informal community behavior standard (quite apart from the TOS). I am sure the SL sociologists are fascinated!

I think that if W-Hat as a group had been better at communicating where they came from, and what they were looking for on SL, this could have been avoided. Reading between the lines, I sense a lot of assumptions on their part that everyone knows what 'SA' is, and the attitudes therein. Ryen's own claims of celebrity and importance reinforce this sense of "we're so famous that everyone knows what to expect from us". I mean this not in a derogatory way, but perhaps there is a lack of realizing exactly how large the world of SL is now, and how 'fame' in one area will never again spread to the majority of residents' ears.

While the aborted babies sounds sick and twisted (most goons would NOT find that funny) the squished cows sounds hilarious (Unless it was a real life video, then it sounds sick )

Bah. All anything anyone ever does in SL ever is provide a marketing tool for SL to grow. You're not special. Furthermore, insulting Llabs multiple times in your previous tirades over supposed "misdeeds" wouldn't really endear yourself to anyone on the receiving end.

Didn't you already move the Tartarus project to a new engine after the private Sim debacle? Or was that just more hyperbole?

How could anyone develop for a moving target like that? Must be hard switching game paradigms every 3 months...

SL isn't built for first person shooters. Anyone I've seen who primarily plays that gets fed up with SL right quick because the physics are bad, the guns inaccurate, and the satisfaction simply isn't there (there's no penalty for dying).

Adding a pretty abstraction layer to the mess isn't going to make Q3A players flock to SL. Or anyone else, judging by the constant stalled state of Tartarus...

i would just like to make a note for anyone on this thread with delusions of grandeur. only people who read the forum know who people on the forum are. most people don't care what goes on here. posting a few here and there doesn't earn anyone any real respect of fame. frankly, anyone really questing for SL fame must be a real life loser having some serious problems dealing with the anonymity and/or isolation of their existence.

Ryen is a relatively new member of W-Hat and his views should not be taken to be representative of the rest of the membership. Neither of W-Hat's officers have posted to this thread, and until that happens this is not a conversation about what W-Hat is or is not, no matter what Ryen or anybody else says. I wish you people would be smart enough to separate the actions and attitudes of a small group of people from those of a much larger group. This game would be a hell of a lot less irritating then.

I want to apologize to LL for lashing out at them, it was said out of anger and now that I have calmed down fully I can look back and pity my actions. I still believe the reason for the suspension was stupid, however, but apparently people here have -no- sense of humor (most of them, not all!). To anyone I "offended" I want to say, lighten up buddy. Dont expect an apology for something that was ment as harmless fun. While I think current SL policies concerning bans and suspensions are terrible, when I signed up to SL I agreed to stand by LL's terms. Apparently I breached that, and for that I apologize. I will stop complaining about my suspension as of this second and take it in the ass (if this offended you, go fuck yourself. Seriously.). I am requesting LL allow Ryen Jade to access the forums agian, since it isnt fun starting from post count 0 .

Here is the current problem with the game, as far as I see it: Several days ago, I had an abuse report filed against me, I have done nothing wrong in the game as far as I know, followed every rule, didn't do anything offensive. Just seconds after I recieved the email indicating to me that an abuse report was filed against me, I sent an email to whoever it was I was supposed to send the email to according to the email I recieved. Its been 2, maybe 3 days now, and I haven't recieved a response yet. I still don't know what I did wrong, and I still don't know why I was banned for an hour completely out of nowhere. I asked a few Lindens in game if they had any idea why I might have been suspended temporarilly, they said they didn't have access to the abuse reports. Oh.. ok, so I talked to live help - they are volunteers I understand, they too do not have access to the abuse reports. Oh.. ok. So, its been 3 days now, I have done everything that I can possibly think of to find out what exactly I did wrong, and have come to the conclusion its because either
A) I am a member of W-Hat and happened to be logged on when a few other members of W-Hat decided to stage an absolutely, ridiculously non-offensive, non-threatening and hilarious action. Mind you, I was in a different sim, thousands of meters away from them when this happened, and I had just started my account not a day before.
or B) I had on purple pants at the time.

Now, according to wonderfully helpful email I recieved, I "Violated community standards" and since neither A, nor B, involve me violating community standards, (unless the community standards do not allow for purple pants, which seems plausible) I am having an incredibly hard time figuring out just how, exactly, each instance of abuse is really investigated. Because according to the email I recieved, server logs were checked, and an investigation was launched over an abuse report filed by someone. Seeing as I started the account, as I stated earlier just a day prior to the event, and I had logged a total of maybe 4 hours since starting the account, I call shenanigans.
Im not asking for abuse reports to be public, I understand that could be a problem, but given that supposedly each abuse report is investigated with checks to server logs and whatnot, the LEAST that Linden Labs could do is tell someone what they did wrong. "Violating community standards" doesn't tell me anything. And 3 days to recieve a reply? What if I was banned for 3 days? If i was banned for 3 days and proved that I had done nothing wrong, would I be credited for the 3 days I was unable to play the game I had payed for? (Assuming of course I was on a premium account [not happening any time soon if my first week is any indication of how Linden Labs acts])
So please, Linden Labs, anyone who has any pull in this game, it would be so amazingly helpful if you would please actually investigate things, and once you do, actually inform someone what they did wrong. It would be ever so helpful.
