No, I've never heard of them. And you should see the look of my face. I'm in total shock. I don't use ketchup either. I like my fries with salt.

We don't use much gravy in California, that's why I never liked English food. It's like mushed up stuff with gravy on it, and it's awful!

ROFL...I spent most of my life in California and ate a LOT of gravy.

I got baby avatar but even when I wear him I am not strictly into roleplaying
it just a avatar for me, cute one like my kitten, puppy or whatever other avatar I put on but these days I rarely rezz him. Being a baby is too much of hassle to build and do stuff I like to do in SL, makes me laggy.
For me it wasn't about having parents, it was about having virtual childhood but
I never found comfortable place to be kid in SL so I gave it up.
But I got lot of babies I made and if want to know how to make your own baby I show you how. With prims, nothing naughty needed or required to make it. LOL

You have never heard of gravy on fries?

That's my favorite way to eat them. Ketchup is the devil's condiment; that's why it's red!

Must be a southern thing, like chicken fried steak.

Amen and pass the ammo!

Although I like ketchup too, but I have been called the devil's daughter before :P

Did you get your tire fixed, Yosef?

I thought Schnitzel came from Austria?

In Italy it's called la cotoletta alla Milanese, so remember, next time you're south of that border.

I had a sl daughter and it was fun for awhile But, I found it to be very cumbersome. Like in rl I felt as I had to find activities the child. Monitor schooling, provide a roof and clothing for the child. WAY to much like rl.

I agree, rules/guidelines should be established. I think people get caught up in the cuteness of the child avie. How I came about mine was my ex husband decided to adopt her without telling his partner. I suppose in a last ditch and effort to save their relationship. OMG so rl! Anyway, his partner not logged on and he asked me to go with him to pick up the "child" for the trial period. Within a day or so, his partner ended up rejecting the child and she gravitated towards me.

So in a away, we had shared custody of her. Well that got to be too much and too much like rl. Having raised my own and never had to deal with that situation in rl, I certainly didn't want that in my sl.

At times, when I see a child avie and I start that ooooo... how cute. Then, I think about my experience and reminds me that is not what I want for my sl. Additionally, the baby talk or whatever its called along with that hideous laughter that even adult avies do, is like someone scraping their nails on a chalkboard.

I had a friend that called people who pretend to be child avies "brain fried". After talking to him about why one might want to portray themselves as such and why someone may want to adopt one, his stance softened.

To me, its to each is own. "Whatever floats ones boat".

But OP please think long and hard about the committment this will require.

I don't have a problem with anything Jig said, just for the record.

I asked to be talked out of something, and she said, "Don't be an idiot," which was right on topic.

But, Jig, if you want to be adopted, talk to me inworld. YOU CAN HAVE YOUR OWN ROOM! :p

Key that is REALLY sweet. Nicest thing anyone offered or said to me on forums. But I am a product of an independent thinking mum and dad and I scared even them as I was growing up. I went to a boarding school also in UK and ran away from there on numerous occasions during my hormonally challenged puberty. Now I own a place of my own but it always give strange feelings to wonder what kinda family I might have had if circumstances were different. Could you handle a daughter with a wild lifestyle, tattoos, piercings and the occasional boy (and girl)?
A room of one's own? Sounds tempting. YOU need an intelligent child, not a icky-wicky-sticky legs and umberella feet kinda kid. Good luck, Key. I wave to you from across teh street where I sing on teh corner for my supper. :)

I am a real life adoptee. Being given up by ones biological mother is a tragic, traumatic thing. I have found much healing in my life but this trauma continues to ripple through it. I have been in reunion with my birthmother for 16 years and this has saved my life.

The idea that adopting a child is a cute thing and a happy ending for adoptive parent and orphan is a real life cultural myth.

People will do whatever roleplay they want and I say enjoy and be yourselves. But when I read about SL adoption agencies, it really creeps me out.

Just wanted to share my perspecitve.

I totally agree, rp all you want and just enjoy. The SL adoption agencies did take me by surprise and I found the questions amusing when my ex was being interviewed. But that was well over a year ago, hopefully they have retooled the interviewing process and tighten their selection criteria.

Yeah, mostly a southern and midwest thing -- and absolutely the best way to eat fries.

Lately I keep seeing child avatars and I feel this ache...
This tells me that there is some yearning inside and one thing SL is good for is exploring even the desires we did not know we had.

I say to go for the trial thing, but make sure you keep your eyes open wide and stay open to exactly what you are feeling. It may just be a bit of nostalgia or it may be that you really would like to be a mommy here - don't let the "cuteness" of the child avi get in the way of seeing the whole picture. And as Dakota said, make sure you talk realistically with prospective candidates about what each of you want out of the relationship.

Whatever you do - do not do anything "spur of the moment". The decision and the child deserve more than that.

ooh chips 'n' gravy ... mmmm ... damn I'm hungry for junk food now, just before I have to cook something proper and nutritious for the not-so-little 'uns.

@ Avawyn - yes, English food is often not very good - the trouble is we just can't get hold of cheese in a spray can over here :(

Raised in California, I don't eat cheese in a can. California has some of the best cheese in the world. We have a huge dairy farming land in central California. I LOVE CHEESE!

Gravy on fries, still can't get over it. Is this home made gravy or canned cuz it's a huge hassle to make gravy? Gravy to me is for special occasions only. I love spinich salads and was a lacto-ova vegatarian for several years (which means we eat dairy products along with grains, beans, veggies, fruits). So I eat kind of what's called California natural or California light. I don't eat sugar at all. I drink water, not soda.

I rarely eat fries anyhow, which we call french fries. These might be different fries? I'll pass on the gravy, trust me, and I mostly pass on the fries anyways. I eat fries about once in a blue moon.

/me wonders if this is gonna look like the prop-8 debate in the 'tranny' thread.... (=_=)

Get a room, people! (>_<;)

I really really dislike that saying .. why should people get a room when the conversation gets interesting?

If you don't like the way the thread is going ... don't read it.... and go to your room.

I mean export. I can't use the edit feature at the moment. Weird?

Anyhow, this is weird. I can only use the quote feature not the edit feature, but it makes my posts look like I edited them?

Yeah, we are talking about french fries.

Oh, and it has to be white gravy, not brown gravy.

/me makes a note to send an email to the Greek Government warning them that they have a copyright fight with Californian cheese makers on their hands.

Our concept of gravy is probably different from yours . . .

Pep (Curry sauce and chips - aka fries - is even better)

Mmmm.... that, and fish and chips, and Guinness were the 3 best food items in Ireland.
