First, be sure you have the Search option checked in the item's Edit window. Then include the most important search terms in the item's Name and Description fields. Your items will be listed in your parcel's page for a search in Search All. Also, the keywords will apparently help your rankings in Search All.

Below is a URL for an example from my shop. The results are the same inworld. "Objects found here" shows each item's price, name, description, and specific location:

http://world.secondlife.com/place/f0f52c5a-c5d7-ebf7-09ec-2d8fd9b19f5d

ah so it is both the name and description, thanks much

I guess mine are ok the way they are :)

As i discussed in world with Amar earlier...the name of an item is KEY. Instead of calling an item of clothing "peace" - calling it something like "Peace Long Formal Gown" or "Long Formal Gown - Peace" gets you much more bang for your buck in search. If you can make the item names as specifically descriptive as possible, all the better. I often search for items like "wooden a frame ladder" or "red spike high heeled sandals." I never search for ladder, heels or shoes. We are dealing with alot of really computer and search savvy people who do searches in RL all day long...you have to be specific to get where you want to go in google and the same applies when searching in SL.

Remember that each item, description etc on your land, picks, classifieds, etc. helps with "relevence" which is what affects how high you are listed in search. So, while classifieds to not actually impact all search in terms of cost, they can help with relevence.

Ive learned all this by trial and error....but it also is very helpful to search for something and see the exact item listed under all search and literally be able to go to the exact coordinates of where that item is located. To effectively name your items, name them according to key words a customer would search for and not just a fanciful name that is lovely but does not explain what the item is.

have you been able to send out notices before in that group?

if not then you need to be assigned the role to do so (I am still waiting to be assigned the role in that one, got it in free style real quick, but fab free is slooooow)

Come to think it of it I may have been just sending out the announcements via group IM previously. I went back and re-read the website on FabFree and didn't see anything about a special group tag.

I guess I missed that somewhere along the line. Am I supposed to contact someone for it?

From: Amaranthim Talon
I used it last week with no problems- haven't tried it this week- but I did get a cute little leaf chair and mushroom ottoman

Awww...glad you picked one up and like it :)

EDIT TO ADD: Okkkaaaaayyyy....went back *again* to the FabFree website to read the rules and saw:

From: someone
Designers: IM me if you would like a designer tag to send out gifts. (No resellers.)

/me sees the lightbulb over my head. For some reason when I read that the first time I didn't equate myself with being a "designer." I'm just a person who makes stuff. :o

/me slinks off

Woot! I sold two items today! My first Onrez sale and the other from my Etopia satellite. (I noticed the purchaser also got the 1L item I offered there as well so perhaps a certain percent of people actually do purchase after coming to get the freebie/dollarbie!

And the dollarbie item was popular two. Hey, it beats camping. :p

The other thing you can do to drive sales is get reviewed. Of course the review can go both ways, so make sure you send the reviewer your best item.

In my reviews I include the slurl and website if the person has them. It costs me nothing and people can go and check out the store if they like the review.

The things I check in clothes, shoes and other personal items are:

overall look
seam lines
details where the fabric ends, for example neckline, arms, waist. Sharpness and detail of the fabric, and ease of fit. And yes, belts and jewelery need to be designed so that they can be easily enlarged or shrank to fit the avatar.

At the moment I am also getting the gear together to put the reviews on youtube, these will be inworld as I rez the packages and review the item with live commentary.

My website is being SEOed at the moment, so looks a bit bare, but by next week all the articles and reviews should be live. The ones there are my latest ones only.

If you want a review send me a notecard inworld with your details and whatever you want reviewed.

This is not related but as a shopper I always Alt+click on the picture of the item I am interested in and if the seller has not put high resolution photos there and I can't see the sharpness of the details and fabric, I will not buy.

I like the term dollarbie! My pet peeve is the "Free" or "Gift" 1L items. I hate it so much that I blacklist all shops that have them. If a shop has the "1L Offer" then I buy it. Go figure.

Hi Mujer - Saw my Review - thank you kindly- Wow- I had not noticed that one seam showing at all - I will be checking for that further in the next ones I do- am working on a Fall Vine right now. This is very helpful and I will be correcting that seam - also will replace the bottom tat for all who have previously purchased it- I can't stand faults like that!

I hope you got a chance to look around the Gardens, I saw your Romance Spots on your page- there is a little dance area down after the water fall and some kisses and cuddles around the grounds.

Thanks again, I have added you to my BlogRoll.

I can't take credit for the term "dollarbie" - I heard it from Rhaorth :) But I like it as well!

Thanks jojo Wow this is all such good information, I never really used the description line, I didnt really realise it was that important, but now I do and will actually use it. I searched my shop and it does bring everything up but nothing really about the items, so I will change all that today This thread is so useful and I want to thank everyone for putting some really great information out there to help other people

I don't remember where I heard the term dollarbie, so can not take credit for it either :)

mujer, I will be dropping a couple things on you shortly for review :)

I love getting reviewed

(would not want to be reviewed live though, on youtube, with SL and it's issues I would hate for something related to SL to cause my stuff to be badly reviewed)

for example, SL messed up an item, but the creator doesn't know it, and the reviewer thinks that is how the item is supposed to look, until later when SL stops being such a pain, but the live review has already been published...

as a consumer, I would rather read a review, and see the still pics, than try to watch a youtube video and in some cases try to understand what the reviewer is saying

(sorry if I am making no sense, fever is getting to me

I am apprehensive to be reviewed. I've had a few dollarbies and freebies mentioned in blogs, but have been mostly told my clothing lacks quality and just isn't appealing. I got one nice review on the gown I was giving away at Urban Shopper last weekend. I guess it would be honest to say I really haven't had my clothing reviewed. I would prefer if the reviewer have negative things or "constructive criticizm" (some people think constructive criticism is just criticism with a lot of smilies thrown in) that they come to me before they go to press, to allow me time to fix the item, or change it to be better....I guess I go by the philosophy that if you can't say nothing nice, don't say anything at all.....and inferred by that is the boxes and folders I dropped on reviewers in my earlier days (with stuff that needed a LOT of work now that I look back on it) were silently accepted into their inventory, never to be seen or heard again.

So I accepted that I probably will never get a glowing blog review...but it's okay. I'm making better things now, and selling things now and then...so I guess it's okay.

I just try to remember it's not about sales, it's about designing what *I* like.......

I so know what you mean dani, we all design to our own taste and there are people who have the same taste and will love them, but there will be others that wont. I am all for constructive critiscm and honesty when it comes to my things, i dont want butt kissing, its a business i want to sell to the masses, lol. Yes i would love my things reviewed objectively, and then given the chance to fix up if I see the same prob, it maybe just an oversight. I appreciate good advice. I have been busy making clothes at the moment with a distinctive air of being a lady, lol. but have had no one buy them :( so I start doubting myself then, but u know its all a waiting game in a saturated market. Once I have my new boutique ready I will start advertising again and hopefully get some satellite stores around for advertising and such.

Hi there :)

No, I didn't see the dance area, will have to check it out :)
Will update the review to let them know you are fixing the seam.

My SEO company keeps changing my urls (I wasn't supposed to go live yet lol), so here's the new one if the old doesn't work: http://mujermagic.com/Clothes/vine-body-art-by-amaranthim.html

I am apprehensive to be reviewed. <snip>.

Danielle, I totally understand. I do have an update option if the creators bother to let me know they fixed any faults I find. Reviews also depend on the price of the item. If a dress costs 2K, I expect A LOT. If it a L60 item, I also expect quality but not all the options, HUDS and other goodies the more expensive item has.

I have contacted two people in the past with regard their products, one was because they forgot to protect it, anyone could copy the script and sell it as their own, and another because they had the tell tale white line on the edges of their clothes. I told the second one about the NCI clothes making class and didn't post a review, she didn't get back to me with any improved clothes so don't know if she carried on or not.

And with skins for example, there are some generic faults that I have not seen resolved and so cannot give someone 10 out of 10 just yet.

It's easier for me if you send a pack. If you can include photos with the items even better. Make sure you send me the slurl, website and how people can contact you inworld in case of problems.

Okay, mujur, I'll get risky and give it a shot. I'll drop you a package with samples and notecards about my things when I can get inworld, either tonight or tomorrow morning.

This is very scary to me. No one I've sent samples to has responded, short of one who did say "thank you, I'll pass it along to someone on my staff".......

I don't expect it to be all bunnies and light, but please be gentle, yet honest. :)
