From: Rhiannon Boronski ok i'll put the figures out here to give you an idea, have nothing to hide and although these figures may seem large when you factor in how much I pay out in rents I make enough to cover our tier plus a little bit.
our sales for august have dropped by around 50K compared to the 3 previous months. we were paying our manager around 16K a month, plus free access to all tattoos, skins, eyes and t-shirts, plus the rent for his main store which on an average of say 3L$ a prim would have been another 1200-1500L$ a month.
I have to say if anything I have seen a significant rise in custom orders, but a slight drop in gift certificates being used. So am really thinking it was him helping people to navigate round the store which has had this impact. I know our store is massive and can be quite daunting to a lot of people. I do have a load of new signs to put up to help people with common questions, but am wondering if that little personal touch of having someone there is something we should like at bringing back. I know August is usually a worse month, but compared to last year this is a massive drop in sales.
Rhia xx Ok well from that and what you have said before yes they may have had a bit of an impact. Let me tp to your store and have a peek, you said before your store is rather confusing for someone. As a shopper let me give my perspective on some ways you can change that so that maybe you dont need someone there to help you navigate. I think having someone there to help is great, but 16,000L is a lot to be spending a month for that, esp if you re finding tht the things which a manager would be most useful in creating 9custom jobs and gift certificates) has risen or not dopped much. An overhaul of the way your store is set up may be a better way to go overall (and maybe a part time employee.... i mean thats over 500L a day just on a manager). Can also suggest getting any full body tatts you have on slx?? I have huge troubles finding full body tatts either in world or on SLX

(On a side note I havent been to your store cos im scared to *giggles* cos they have me downpat... i would spend a lot. I love tatts, but I cant afford to shop right now ) me does a little rain dance and prays for the day E can shop again.......might be just what i need to put my sales back on track (joke) and yes, my partner and I are both busy people, around 90% of my sl time is spent either working on customs, creating new designs, tweaking and setting up satelite stores, attending sponsored events. my partner spends less time inworld than I do, but a lot of time he is not online he is drawing designs. I love your logo btw E, very easy on the eyes, well mine anyways. These days anywhere that is all white or bright colours I tend to turn round and walk straight back out because I know within 30 minutes (sometimes less) of being there I will have a migraine Rhia xx

Primal Art: I was dropped into a huge courtyard with not much around me. I will say i really dont like this cos I am rezzing a lot of things that arent hugely important to me as a shopper. I woud personally prefer a TP point closer to your stuff, maybe at the top of the stairs. Lag as i rez in, it is there, but certainly to huge (plus SL has been playing up all day for me so it may just be that). First thing i see as I tp in is a huge sign, which took me a minute to read as i have my settings or night which says skins coming soon. My first impression of that is cool skins, but that was hard to read .... i personally thing all display boards should be set to full bright Ohhh i find a teleporter thingy. Personally this is where i would set the landing point. As a shopper I like to know where i can go and whats around. I TP straight to tattoo sets of course I liked what I saw but found the primal art written over the top of the pictures ingrey distracting (im guessing they are there to stop copying or soething... i dunno). However I found the styles in a bit of a jumble for me. Ithink within full body tattoos there ae categories (primal, girly, colours, tribal, gothis, neko, guys, girls unisex). This can really help me. Im a shopping who likes organisation. BTW your heart pansy set is not set for sale. There was a discussion not long ago on this thread about texture uploads and the size of those. I found yours took forever to rez to clear for me. They were blurry for ageesssss Anywy your product overall is good, but yes i would agree it is somewhat confusing. I suspect that a clean up of your store which you had on your list would do wonders for sales

A great friend of mine created it, originally on white, but we threw it on black to grunge it up. Most of my ad boards are whiteish but not too white. I dofind stark white the same, i dont like it. I have started ding someof my pale items on a black background which is looking awesome.

thanks E, really appreciate you risking the visit yes the grey primal art is a watermark, we were hit sometime back by people copying stuff so it had to be added, not something I wanted to do as like you I prefer the boards without it. The courtyard is large right now as there is a yawning space left by the removal of our managers main store. I did discuss an idea with Rhaorth about offering people from this thread free space for their products to give them another location and use some of the abundant space and prims we still have available and am still seriously considering that option. But if we go for a complete rebuild, would hate people to get all set up only to have to redo it again after we rebuild. The skins coming soon is not on full bright as the skins are now available in store (least the female ones are) and I have not decided what to replace that particular sign with as yet....possibly a dollarbie/freebie wall and then lose the gift box at the front of the store, or move the tp station to directly in front of the stairs. Being such a big project and with so much space and prims to play with we want to get this right first time and not have to keep making changes. The maze inside is where we have constantly added land and just knocked through walls too add store space. not for sale ??? OMG !!! adds to list of things to do Rhia xx

From: Rhiannon Boronski our sales for august have dropped by around 50K compared to the 3 previous months. /me tries to wrap my brain around sales "dropping" by 50k. I can't even fathom "earning" 50K in SL.

i know they sound like big figures Czari, and yes when we first started with our little 30 prim store we were exstatic to get a sale of 50L$ a week which was our rent covered.....and yes I still have that original store, always will, think it is good to remember where we started.
As I said before, we may be considered a large business in sl, but I know we are still newbies when it comes to many things, I did not even know what a dollarbie was until Rhaorth kindly explained it to me a short time ago, and as for info hubs, haven't a clue, never been to one, was tp'd straight from OI to a friends house. And I think personally, many of the big names in sl could also learn a lot from this thread. We were very lucky when we first started out in having a club owner who believed in us and our product and gave us the push in confidence we needed to really go for it, and am still a firm believer in paying it forward and helping out people when we can.

Pics! Or it's not gonna happen...

As a shopper, I gotta say it again. When you advertise your item here or at SLU or anywhere for that matter, it's important that you post a picture. I know that I'm not the only one who will NOT copy the slurl and visit the store without some visual stimulation. I might visit a blog if there is a link to that....maybe, on a good day, but this all depends on my mood of the moment. I need a pic to determine the quality of the goods. It's easy enough to post one and I just hats it when I click an ad thread and only find a slurl! Grrrrowl! You can link back your images from so many free websites: www.photobucket.comhttp://www.sluniverse.com/pics/ (snapzilla) http://imageshack.us/http://www.imagebam.com/THERE IS NO EXCUSE! Hee! On a less pissy note, grand opening of Modish Mox will be held on Saturday this week! Prepare to see lots of pimpage with pics!

just not sure how best to arrange it all right now E, is the only thing stopping us putting it in practice right now. have everybody housed in the main building or create something around the courtyard...what do you think having been there ?

Personally I think the coutyard is a better option for you. Having our work inside your store may work against you I think, as it may kind of look mis matched. I think adding smaller stoe to that ourtyard would really work (and would help with the landing point issue of lanidng in a large empty space).
Also in the court yard it gives more scope for the designers here who's items maybe wouldnt fit in so well with your stuff. The ball gowns etc would look a bit odd next to tattoos.

that was kind of my thinking too, the only problem I foresee is trying to give everyone enough area (prims are not an issue, currently have 1500 to 2000 available) and visibility in a fair way. Could people maybe reply here giving a rough idea of who would be interested so I can get a handle on how many spaces would be needed, am guessing it will be quite a few, but could be wrong, it has been known Rhia xx

I would say you could do 8 to 10in that space pretty well. Andif some are more visiable than others maybe there could be an agreement to mix it up every few weeks?? Ifthe spaces are all the same size it merely takes seleting all your items and maybe rotating them and moving them to the next space and can literally take like 3 minutes.
I would say there are no more than 10 regular participators in this thread??
Mixing it up also means that we get a reminder to change the stuff around in our satelite store, which i think it an important thing to do that many people forget

Oooooooooooo now the idea of rotating round every few weeks I do like, that way every one would get a fair chance at being nearest the tp point, something I had not thought about before. thanks for that great idea E

but that is the whole point of this thread, to bounce ideas off each other and get different perspectives. wondering.....with everyone being on different time zones I guess the best way would be to allocate numbers to each space and give everybody a number, then say once a month return everybodies items and send out a list of their new space numbers, would be a nightmare trying to get everyone there at the same time to move round....but could be fun watching you all run round trying to move your stuff at the same time, kinda like musical chairs. *me grins mischieviously*

Rhianon- wouldn't mind a little kiosk or cart or what have you Thanks! Let me know when available- did you see we have an in-world group? Might be an easy way to get the notice out for you.

Hi Amar, yes I joined the Biz group a while back. just talking over logistics with my business partner....eeekkk...looks like we are going for a complete rebuild and turning the store round 180 degrees as well. So now is the time to give us ideas, before we get too far with planning...we are thinking because the space currently to the rear of us is such a strange shape it may be better to use that as the tp point and arrange all your satelite stores around it and then with the rotation idea from E you will all get a fair chance at the better spaces OMG.....he's talking about deleting the roof already, think this could move very quickly, know what he is like when he gets his building face on. *hands out hard hats and hi-vis jackets to all visitors*....this could get messy

Rhia xx That's a great attitude, Rhia! You have picked up some pointers on this thread and some of the posters, but it sounds like you have a wealth of info we could learn from you as well It is encouraging to know that you began small and worked up. In one of my classes the instructor said she has a friend who began with one self-made vendor and a very few products and built slowly from there until she now owns an entire sim!!!!! These are the kinds of experiences that provide motivation for me...and likely many others just starting out.
