Time to catch up again.....

Ralektra - wow thankyou for the compliment. I have to admit the skins are not totally my creations. I bought some basic .tga's and then played with them a heck of a lot, neatening up seams, adding additions to make-ups and of course the tattoos. Still have to get Rhia into one of my own skins too, but she will need a new shape. As many have said a skin changes dramatically depending on shape, and right now they look terrible on me, so will have to do some tweaking, probably make her shape more like my alt who actually sells the female skins. I mean, I can't long term wear somebody elses skin when we make our own now can I ? lol

Rhaorth - I know exactly what you mean about big stores. Unfortunately we are stuck between a rock and a hardplace on that one. With so much stock we have to go big, and even with the amount of product we have we still have so many people asking why we don't do this or that. So we will be staying with a large build, but have already seen one idea I really like in a satelite store I was rezzing yesterday, a way of compartmenting areas in what I think is a quite stylish way. But you will be happy to know the groups area of shops is a compact area, nice small courtyard surrounded by all your spaces, is the only bit we have worked on so far. Trying to get some nice details in there with a small central fountain, a few planters and seating. I think the small details are something we had not really focused on before, the little things to make it aesthetically pleasing to the eye. The group area has 8 spaces, I currently have 6 names so still space for a couple more if anyone is interested. Good luck with the job hunting as well, hope you find just what you are looking for.

Surreal - A new shop ? don't forget to post the slurl for us to come see when it is finished. know exactly what you mean about the no rez places, one of the big reasons we do not box our things. But I have seen a lot of comments about people asking for dressing areas especially when buying skins to save them tping home to try them, so that is one thing we are also adding into our new design.

Amar - big is probably an understatement when it comes to our store hee hee I gave up on sl last night, so laggy and could not do much, so rather than getting frustrated with it I just spent a nice evening on one of my music recording sites singing with friends, something I often do to relax when sl gets too much. can't wait to see the new skirts, don't forget to show us when they are ready.

E - can understand what you are saying about hiding areas until ready to fill them. The only problem with that is if we did not have blank boards in place for new tattoos we would have to re-organise to keep the groupings every time we opened up a new area, and with the size and numbers we are dealing with that would be a mammoth task every time. But we are talking about a more streamlined design for the new build which would possoibly allow us to do something like this.

Have had a few sales this weekend, it is slowly picking up again, but I have found weekends are never consistent from one to the next, it is all relative to how stable the grid is in my experience. need to get my butt into psp now and catch up on the custom orders I have, once these are clear not accepting any new ones until the new store is built.

huggsss with love

Hi Mujer and welcome

yes this thread is an amazing resource for sellers, so many ideas and different perspectives, as I have said in this thread before, even long term sl sellers and some of the big names could learn a lot here, I know I certainly have.

I believe most in this thread are now selling their products, but am sure there are many who are just reading this thread and not posting, so although you may only see a small number of names cropping up throughout the thread I believe it is helping a heck of a lot more to improve their stores and sales

I think with the exception of Moxz who is opening her store in the next day or two all of us has an open store and from what has been written all of us hve seen increased sales as a result of implimenting the ideas within this thread.

I have found that several things have helped me, on of the biggest has been the extra exposure offered from the free satalite stores that some in here have generously donated, and I am looking forward to setting up that with Rhia YAY.

The other thing I have started doing is advertising new items here in the forums. Dont know exactly how much this is helping, but I have seen a few names i recognise from the forums popping up in my main store.

I need to workon adding things to SLX. But i have to admit i hate doing that so I have no where near all my items on there, just a smattering. I really need to take the time to work on that at some point

here you go......first pics of the biz members vendor area, texturing is not completely finished as yet, but almost there. To give you an idea of size the square the fountain sits on is a 10 x 10

The mall looks very nice Rhiannon.

Mujer :) - Welcome and Bienvenida ;) - I for one have sales now not just increased- actually have them 'cause pre the thread it was exciting if there was one sale in a month so yes, the ideas here have definitely helped. Take a look at the page Skell set up that has the boiled down ideas from here in one spot- but he may be a little busy for a bit right now - 'grats again Skell!

Anyhoo- once we get out of the summer dulldroms things should be better from what I have read of the established business- Summers tend to slow.

Carpe, etc...

I don't have my store open yet, or anything more than the building shell up. *sighs* I have two satellite locations just to get some of my products that have been gathering dust in my inventory out there.

I was all excited about building my shop, which is the prime reason I went Premium and purchased 512 sqm land. Then the price on an adjoining 1024 was good so, hey...more prims and purchased it. Errr...then another 1024 (yes adjoining the other two) was also set at a good price so I snagged it. With that much land we moved our house from the rented land it was on (same sim)...and then...for some reason my momentum to work on my shop just faded.

Now with some personal plus RL stuff going on...the shell of my shop just sits there.

I'm just the opposite there. For some reason it seems like less "work" to post on SLX (no trying to figure out where to place a sign, if it's lined up right, color schemes, etc.) I DO need to get my butt in gear and also list on OnRez.

Regarding getting things lined up I have a little tip that might help you. I know it all seems like such a massive job right now (I felt the same way about putting everything onto the blog and SLX) but if you set aside an hour here and an hour there, it won't take long.

So, alignment. Once you've settled your first adboard in place, the rest are easy. Once you're in Edit mode, just note down the positions in the Object tab. The ones you need are the up/down position and the in/out (how close to the wall things are) position. The first is the Z axis, but the other will depend on which way your adboard is facing.

You can then either click and drag the blank adboard to create another, or you can rez another one, resize it, and apply the same position co-ordinates to move it into the same place on the wall; just move it along either left or right. You can quickly and easily cover a whole wall that way, and then work on adding the ad textures and the contents afterwards.

I agree with Amara's suggestion. Perhaps if you rez everything in boxes or adboards, and give a few people edit permissions, they could help you set it all in order?

Lastly, I don't know if I read it right, but it seems you've moved your house onto the land where your store is, and the store shell is just sitting there. I have a 30x30 gold and stone skybox store with a landing area for sale in my store and on SLX that I'd be happy to give you a free copy of, if you want to take your store into the sky. Listing is here:

BTW, thanks for the congrats, Amara! Yes, I've been a bit absent from this thread (very busy paying court and attention to my gorgeous boy) but I'm still reading.

I'd love to hire you all to fill this furniture with animations and box up the sets, make ads and start a new blog for the store. *giggle*

Here's my new logo and one of the sets. I ran into permission problems yesterday so I've had to redo some things and make sure they were correct. I'm going to offer sets with and without animations. All will be Mod/Transfer but no copy. Whew I'm exhausted!

That's kind of you, Amar and a good thought - except I'm the type of person who wants to do things myself. My partner keeps asking if he can help. It's just the "inner desire" or something.

Awww, thank you too, Skell :) You guys (and gals) are the best!

What I have in mind, since I live on a water sim, is a "Cape Cod" kind of look. I've been going to Cape Cod and Martha's Vineyards type sims to get an idea of the look I'm going for. Since it will be a quasi-antique store (and/or the kind of things one finds in an old attic) I wanted to do some sort of weathered "Cape Cod colors" for the exterior. I found a freebie house and did some mucking around with it to give me the basic shape I want for my shop, including a ceiling deck...kind of like the old "Widow's walk" (saw that on a house at Coco's Cottages and loved it!!)

The shop (sans texturing other than how it came) is currently sitting on a prim with a sand texture but once I figure out the type of wood planking I like, then I want to texture the prim the store sits on with that and build some wood walkways out into the water, perhaps ending in a small gazebo or...something.

So, I have all these ideas percolating in my mind, just don't have the mental or emotional energy to put into it right now.
