just wanted to say thank you to Mujer Magic for the awesome review on her website!

http://mujermagic.com/Clothes/work-or-casual-outfit-by-rhaorth-antonelli.html

AND for letting me know how SL messed up the box for the sandals (it somehow ended up with 2 left feet in it) but all has been fixed (well for as long as SL allows it)

has anyone had SL do that, change permissions, or even revert things back to a different state?

That is what seems to have happened in this case

I tend to make copies of one shoe to do the other, in this case I copied the left, changed the sculpt maps, prim angles and alignments etc, to make the right shoe... however for some strange reason the box had 2 left shoes in it

So always be aware of things like that when you set stuff for sale.... and....

PLEASE if you are a consumer and you notice something like this, let the designer know.
Any designer/content creator worth their weight will be very thankful you let them know!

(I know I was when Mujer let me know)

Re two left feet- hmm- think of it as a feature- niche marketing for bad dancers ;)

Also- in the Worst Lucky Chair ever, thread- Czari bemoans having only one shoe- maybe it is a right one? Just SL looking our for us :D

Incidentally, I wish LL would introduce a new inventory icon: a clickable weblink that takes you to a webpage, like the landmark takes you to a place inworld. I know why they don't, because the possibilities for misuse are too high, but still...

The Mystitool does that :)

Selling items seperately?
09-11-2008 09:25
I thought about starting a new thread but I'll just ask it here. It seems to fit. I am looking for advice on selling furniture on SLexchange and Onrez. I am starting a furniture line. Should I keep my items boxed as a set or should I sell them individually. Do you think they would sell better that way?

offer both options, and the set would be a little less cost, so ppl can save

and separately lets them pick and choose

This is of course just my opinion, but I'd do both. I have a bracelet and then made matching earrings. I offer the bracelet and earrings both separately, but also offer the bracelet ~and~ earrings as a "set" for a slightly less price than if each were purchased individually.

I've had sales of all 3 types: Some purchased just the bracelet, some purchased just the earrings, and some bought the set.

Different products, but I would think it would work similarly with furniture. I might want just a sofa and like yours but not want to buy the table, lamp, etc. in the set. Other people might enjoy the matching set.

Trying to appeal to the widest purchasing population seems to a key here. :)

As only a consumer I agree with having the option to buy the set or individually. When I purchased a dining table and chairs recently, the display was set up with 8 chairs. Since everything was set as individual purchases only, I only bought 4 chairs. I would have bought the entire set if it was available.

I think your pictures could use a little work. Also bear in mind many folk avoid malls because of the lag.

I know, but not everybody owns the Mystitool. I was thinking more along the lines of a standard inventory icon that anyone could click.

It's easier for me if you send a pack. If you can include photos with the items even better. Make sure you send me the slurl, website and how people can contact you inworld in case of problems.

Mujer I've just been catching up with the thread (yet again) and have sent you a package for my recently improved "New England Home". I'd love for you to review this for me. Let me know if you get everything ok. If you do find anything horrid, please let me know so I can fix it, although I don't think that this should happen... I hope

I am still trying to get fully caught up on this thread, but have LOVED all the advice so far, some fantastic tips, & have also enjoyed visiting some of your stores... I will get around to doing some reviews if that is still useful? I think I saw mention of a summary of some of the tips mentioned, can anyone point me to that? I am up to around page 50ish I think.. though keep losing track lol.

I recently had experience with one of the sellers mentioned/involved in the thread.. Miles Beck so can review his store. A HUGE thank you to Miles, who responded to my out of the blue IM asking whether a super fast custom card was possible. Not only was he friendly, helpful & super fast in responding, he also delivered a custom card very quickly.. and it was great! I found the store easy to navigate, beautifully built & with lots of info well placed to allow me to see what was available. The custom card info was excellent, clearly laid out so I knew exactly what to do. So a very big thanks to Miles for terrific service, a great product & a very reasonable price, I have been, & will continue to, recommend your store to all my friends :)

I do have some questions for my own store too & would love some feedback. Most specifically I am looking at my layout, which has developed into a bit of a sprawl over time & I am considering re-arranging things. I sell outdoor furniture in colour ranges. So for example almost every item I make is available in one of 5 colour schemes (so far lol).

My question is.. do you prefer all the things in a range of colours to be grouped, so all the blue together, or all the things of 1 type to be together.. so all the hammocks for example? I am torn between the 2 as many customers do buy a number of items from a range to have matching items. But I imagine if someone is looking only for a hammock, or sun lounger etc, wading through all the items may be a pain.

Would love any feedback in general of course, aswell as on that specific area.... and now I'm off to see where I was up to & carry on reading!

Danni re the store layout - I like rooms - rooms in colors would be my choice- It would lead to impulse buys too I think - if I come in looking for a chaise- wow- that hammock in the same color wd look great with it! :)

Miles, you are more than welcome, I appreciated the great service :)

Amaranthim - thank you, I have gone with this idea so far.. though less rooms.. more like scattered about on sand lol. I'm just concious that it has all got kinda messy.

I second the grouping by colors

as for the messy... got to make a mess to tidy it up (at least that is my motto)

hehe

oh and I dunno about others but I am still open to anyone who wants to review my store :)

You deserve it love.
Well, thank goodness the shoe thing wasn't you trying to tell me I have two left feet LOL

On a more serious note, I have seen this happen before, where the shoes come in either two left or two right instead of right and left, now I know why :)

oh goodness no, if anything I am the one with 2 left feet

people laugh at me when I tell them I can't dance in SL

because, well, everyone can right?
except me, I usually end up frozen on the danceball, or out of sync with the other dancers on a machine, or I click the blue pose ball instead of the pink

or I am fast dancing to a slow song, or vice versa

Well sent out my replacement Vines after correcting the seams. It was cool because I really REALLY had to look at the mesh- It cost me a few Linden to upload a few different versions of the bottoms- but I hope and I think, that I ma have learned something about where to draw on the lower parts of the avie mesh- damn the stretching!

I do clothes at 512- I THOUGHT I was doing adverts at 512 too, but found they were 1024- then I read Mujer saying about detail in the adverts and I figured it really isn't that bad a stretch and that if my cheapie laptop can rez it- so can the majority of SLers, so am not losing sleep over it.

Try out your clothes on the test server, it will save you lots of linden as it doesn't charge to upload. Once you are happy with it, then upload to the regular server :)
