Thanks LS! Not sure that ANYONE can really be said to "speak for" the SLLUFN (that's not really how we operate), but I think my characterization of the consensus in the group is a pretty accurate one.

I am very curious to see how the Zindra Alliance evolves. As some here will be vaguely aware, I am very interested in the nature and function of "community" in SL.

Just saw that my second full sim choice has a 9000 meters bite out of it, two whole minutes more into tickets and maybe a few out of the 70 between that one and mine.

Does LL offer counseling for those needing it?

Jeff has already started looking at it and I think has already released a prototype. You're right in that until there's decent information we can't know just what is going to happen, but on past performance I can pretty well guess that it's going to be painful.

Probably I should have expanded a bit: I actually do think it will be painful for Adult content sellers, but because of the effect on customers more than on the stores where the items are sold. I'd be especially conscious of certain scripted prim attachments, some of which may simply become obsolete with no practical workaround.

It seems unlikely that an agent will be able to wander the grid wearing a MystiTool, collar, cuffs, genitals, separate AO, and (heaven help us) resize scripts in their hair and/or shoes, all at the same time.

Of course, in a broader sense, it will be a damned good thing for everybody when all those scripts are as memory-optimized as they can be, and when all resize scripts are finally thrown over the rail. But during the transition, folks are gonna have fits when they can't figure out why their collars can't be worn anymore, etc., etc.

You are welcome and I did mean you spoke for the group in a more figurative manner rather than you were the spokeswoman Also on the slapt.me forums we are making available for SL groups the ability to have their own forum sub group within our forums, which they can moderate etc themselves so let me know if your group is interested and that offer stands for any active group in SL with more than 50 members.

I agree with you for the most part- But I'm afraid that SL is too blunt an instrument to provide too many shades of sexuality in its content ratings. There could be a consensual/non-consensual divide, or LL could simply say that there was no room for non-consensual sex of any kind on mainland, and then the activity would be restricted to private estates.

However, one thing gets in the way of this. with the exception of push effects, orbiters, and the like, *all* animations in SL must have the consent of the animated, and there is a ready method of escape available in the "teleport home" function.

Granted, people can be *tricked* into giving consent, but can end the animation at any time. There is simply no way to force oneself upon a truly unwilling victim. It simply cannot happen.

I know that for some people, even seeing someone else in that situation is traumatic, but there are other considerations- namely, the right of consenting adults to engage in mutually agree-upon activity.

It is a knotty problem, no doubt about that. One that might be solved by a voluntary use of land descriptions to advertise the non-consensual roleplay, and by the vigilance of people who aren't comfortable with it checking out the land description of places before they go there.

If people are careful to avoid things that bother them, and considerate enough to provide the necessary information for people to make informed decisions, then we don't need new rules- it seems a poor trade-off to inflict a non-consensual situation (the forced tagging, re-rating, and forced movement of content) in the name to freedom of choice.

However, I also know that the sort of Consideration that I am talking about is, unfortunately, rather rare.

Forgive me if I have trouble believing that the same bunch that brought us the Adult content fiasco will preside over a smooth and non-painful program of throttling Sim resources. I doubt that there is anything that LL cannot turn into a travesty.

Adult content was a management thing. They decided that adult stuff needed to be segregated then came up with a bunch of reasons to support that, which they called "goals."

Resource limits is a technical thing. Geeky types see a problem which needs fixing (aka: a goal) then work out how to fix it.

That's not to say that it will all go smoothly - I think we don't have much reason to expect that - but I wouldn't really call them the same bunch..

Got an email that my second choice has been set for sale to me.

Looks like we are mirroring each others experiences - after my 1st choice going for a burton yesterday my next 2 have gone today and it's still only half way through - oh well there is a huge abundance of dull featureless tundra to choose from, but giving it a positive spin- it's really the people and community that make a place home not the hillsides and sea.

can anyone get into the new south coast area? I can't get down there yet and anything resembling land I would want on the new eastern coast is taken.

This is the song Linden Lab will sing after more than half the population find out they missed the boat. We are aware because we read blogs and forums and pay attention to the MOTD. Remember LL removed the Zindra MOTD in one day.

For something this important - this sweeping policy change that effects the entire grid..Linden Lab is obligated to send an e-mail to every customer.

I have dropped by many adult Business' on the mainland - and they have no idea what I am talking about. I do not think the August missed-the-boat grumbling will 'go away'.

I thought they weren't enforcing the "new rules" for mature regions until after the moves are finished? There are a lot of listings in the incident reports for indecency, mature content. At least 2 of the regions have adult content listed and its a mixture of mainland and private regions.
