I took it as meaning that LL's creation of an unnecessary problem, followed by their shambolic handling of the easily-foreseeable consequences of their actions, gave the RL companies justifiable cause for concern about the competence and reliability of the current management team at LL and about whether they were the sort of people with whom they wanted to do business.

There's so many different approaches to online games and virtual worlds.

Some people treat it as "just a game". They don't think about what's happening in-world when they're not there. They often assume everyone else in-world is treating the game the same way.

Some people treat it seriously and as a game. They spend as much time in world as someone who's a good player in an amateur sports club would in practice, and if they can't get in they feel like they're letting their team down. But people not on their team are just obstacles to be dealt with.

Some people treat it seriously and as a play. Their character in SL is a character, but they apply as much time and effort to that character as if they were performing in a play or writing a story. Their character in SL is art and a performance, and they want to provide the best performance for everyone.

Some people treat it as just an extension of RL. They find people in all three of the categories above hard to deal with. But role-players and serious gamers and "just-a-game"ers also rub each other the wrong way at times. Some people move between these roles. Argent in other worlds is a role-playing character, but I can't do that full time in SL and run a business, so I have to treat it as both a play and as an extension of RL. Which sometimes makes it hard for me to deal with myself.

I am looking through the forums wondering why nobody is writing about the latest Zindra status. Today is Wednesday ! Could anyone write an update please ?

Thanks Lindall, my ticket should be opened very soon, possibly today (?). So I was wondering if LL is working on tickets already ? Or are there any news (delays ?) from today that I don't know about ?

The latest we have is Jack Linden's blog post, available on the main page. He goes into detail on the number of tickets and the additional land creation. There's a lot of comments, too, but mostly of the griping variety. Including mine.

There's are two parcels adjacent to mine that are for sale already by a Ray Burdeyna

A 4560 SQ meter plot for 100k lindens and a 7728 for the same price.


These parcels were originally part of a larger parcel that was being sold to a "Luli" person (I don't remember the name) for one linden by another person who has land adjacent to it and recieved the entire amount in the original swap.

So original swapper gets big plot. Sells some to someone named "luli" for one linden, and now it is split in two and each chunk is for sale for 100K by a Ray Burdeyna, who isn't the original swapper.

Thus is appears, the land is being re-parceled for sale before the swap is even finished, or LL has a chance to auction.

If I were LL I would be checking into this sort of thing, and spanking people is it turns out that something hinky is going on.

Since one of my few choices is blocked useless by 1/4 sim parcel taken already, I got curious and found that apparently the club being moved there comes from a private island. The same person owns the island as the club.

So I ask this. Why would this person need a swap at all?

And are people moving from private islands even eligible at all?



Oh, well I'll be damned, Blue closed the other thread right after I asked this there. I suppose it could be coincidence

My guess would be that either the swap was a mistake, they swapped for mainland that they used to own and is now abandoned, or they have purchased the land from someone who *was* eligible for the swap.

There seem to be a *lot* of swapping and flipping going on. folks who are parceling up their swap and putting them up for sale, or setting up builds with rental space. The rental space I sort of get, if the rentals support the adult activity/RP etc., but getting a swap and selling off before the swap is even finished seems like a scam to me- they'll probably use the proceeds to have an alt buy a bunch of devalued mature mainland, and then apply for another swap after they've porned it up.

One hopes that LL will be looking into activities like this and spanking people *hard* over it.

Since my neighbour hasn't come back with an offer and LL won't even look at my 3 day old ticket asking for a swap to some landlocked zindra, I'm going to put the land up for sale in the next few days.

So don't forget to wave your pitchforks in my direction too. I'll even give you the heads up when I do it so you won't even have to stress over finding the slurl - you can go straight to outrage.

Since the blog thread is closed and Blue suggested that any questions be put through the support portal, that's what I suggest all of you do. That way you can have an official response to each situation.

Ray is a well known land flipper. He is notorious for labeling all of his parcels Ocean Protected in listings.

True, they are almost always well protected from any oceans, being well inland.

One of the parcels in the new eastern area (Duval) has been allocated and "bought" (in the 5 mins between me seeing at as available and as a possible choice, then going back -at least i'm 99.9% sure it wasnt gone!) so that must have been done today, right? As that region wasnt there until after ticket processing stopped...
