From: Meade Paravane Could be that they've realized that there are issues with their plan and have taken a step back to reconsider how things are being done. Or maybe they've paused to decide if they need to open up more land.. Decide? How much land you want is one of the fields in the ticket. They should be able to total up all the requests, discount a percentage for ones that are disallowed, and *know* how much land they will need. (Oh, and add a percentage for auction land later)

(Oh, and add a percentage for auction land later) Well, one hopes that percentage for auction land is big enough to contain all the land that didn't end up getting assigned from anybody's top three choices. That could be a fairly large percentage, I'd guess--but I sure couldn't guess with any precision *how* large.

and do a quick scan for full sim request and realize those might take a bit of extra work. I just wish they would put up some kind of counter. Now serving ticket numbers so and so. Then we could at least see progress or if they are stuck.

They should be able to total up all the requests, discount a percentage for ones that are disallowed, and *know* how much land they will need. Well, they actually knew the answer months ago: 2-4% !!! How long would it take you to count up the numbers (or TP around and look because the land size wasn't given) for a thousand or so tickets? How well is land being distributed? Are the sizes being requested such that LL is ending up with a lot of wasted space or non-evenly distributed space? Did EVERYBODY request land that has water access? I don't think they care about auctions at this point - that's easy to fix later by stamping out some more regions.

I don't think they care about auctions at this point - that's easy to fix later by stamping out some more regions. "Did EVERYBODY request land that has water access?" I'd wager about 100% less 2-4% did. So LL gave it out to the first tickets. Now they are probably running into tickets submitted by people who 1) Are actually swapping from parcels with water 2) Have seen the best water parcels being given to the refugees from the flat green/granite deserts 3) are totally and absolutely frustrated and pissed off. ... and LL have few options to offer them. Elan says that to him , land is just square meters in the bigger picture. He opines that LL see it exactly the same way. I suspect he is spot on there! Absolute card-carrying terminal tunnel vision! Crapal-tunnel vision. - *Not* a misspeling A friend of mine wil have to swap over 1/2 sim of oceanfront. Her ticket got in at 10:20 What will LL do about all those genuine water people, who have a feeling for terrain and don't slap down flatland builds on sloping ground? Announce new water sims? And have everyone trying to stall in the hope of getting one of those?

How long to work through the Queue?
07-01-2009 14:34
They have processed about 100 support ticket numbers in two days. Subtracting 10 non-Zindra tickets that appeared in those first 5 minutes leaves 45 tickets processed per day. With an estimate of 1,112 tickets in 3.6 hours, that will take 24.7 days to process just the ones we have known ticket numbers for.
Add to this whatever tickets will have been added during the rest of the 2 weeks, 6 days, and 20.4 hours they are open, and subtract some factor for them getting faster at processing them with experience to get an idea of when they will finish them ALL.
@Sling:
Well, they have about 20 regions worth of pure water, so how about popping in a bunch of islands?

A blog from Jack saying "woah! ok.. you all want water! we get it.." then much force-feeding of coffee to moles to stamp a few dozen watery regions out. Except that it means others might not get like-for-like, I don't mind at all that flatlanders are getting some water. This is a forced move of a lot of people who were playing by the rules - getting a bonus in the deal is perfectly fine by me.

As long as people are not downgraded, then why not give everyone paradise? I've got nothing personal against flatlanders. It's LL that gave them the land. It will still sting many that flatlanders have been given double-prim water if they don't get a bonus as well. Edit to add a tinge of honesty Well, nothing against them up until they build something suitable only for flat land. If they can't imagine a build there, why did they request the parcel?

I'm person example 1. Corner of sim (don't have extreme corner 512 but I surround them) All edge of sim ownership on two sides of property minus above mention. One edge backs up to LL void sim. Tropical, flat or below water property. This is pretty much as good as it gets I think in land value and seems to follow since people around me are selling 15K per 512. Only thing better would be both sides backing to LL void sims. I found three parcels that are close to what I have and so far two are gone as of yesturday. I'll bet I'll lose cause my ticket didn't get in till after noon.

Yes, but is anyone buying those 15k 512's?

From: Jannae Karas Yes, but is anyone buying those 15k 512's? Yes hence why I mentioned it. It's the one corner plot I didn't grab and way back (6 or more) months ago I grabbed two at 10 - 15K as well. Edit: when I bought mine is when the sim came online. Most edge against void parcels went for 10K+

Most edge against void parcels went for 10K+ Think about one of the parcels that I am swapping. http://slurl.com/secondlife/Miller/41/44/90One boundary is on the road just at the suspension bridge in Miller. Another boundary is along Linden water. Take a canoe from the dock. Go SW and follow the river right up into the middle of the Linden snow sims. - Watchout for the sort of Bermuda triangle, where a collection of abandoned boats mark the position of ban lines made invisible because the banned parcel is in the adjoining sim (Jig's neighbour!) Go NE under the bridge and the next sim is the first of the Linden oceans sims in Sansara. There's not a lot of that sort of land in Zindra. I have about half a sim of parcels with two big chunks that have Linden water sims on two boundaries. Those are not Adult content , although about half are Mature. All my parcels have Linden water/road/snow on a boundary. They all cost high but to be realistic, even superior land won't get much above 15/m in the current market. Luckily - if I was worried about notional 'profit' - I bought most of it about 2 years ago when 13/m was a post-auction price for that sort of land.

Yeah getting certain land comes down to price and use. The type of land most are grabbing is the pricey flat/tropical/double prim land which sadly I enjoy and use (flat tropical). I'm cheap and if I didn't buy the land for use I'd have gone to some cheap land and built a place in the air. I wonder how many asked to be housed on that huge mountain in NE corner of Zindra.

Still Waiting

I submitted my ticket at 13 minutes after and am still waiting....and yes, I asked for a comparable exchange for my gorgeous waterfront sim...I'm probably going to get screwed.

My 4051-6484284 at 10:05 has just gone WIP. It went Further Information at 3:36 PM PDT Sort of: Your outrageously superior choices are long gone, Is there perhaps some inferior option that would interest you?

Blondin has said this:
[16:28] Blondin Linden: [16:15] Moon Corrigible: Blondin - if like for like is no longer available what should we do? ANSWER: Request on you ticket that they bring up another region
and this
[16:41] Blondin Linden: [16:24] kestryl Appin clears her throat and tries to sound sultry, "Blondin, dear, what can I expect now that any waterfront, similar, and suitable land is long gone?" ANSWER: Request on your ticket that they bring up more regions. But honestly, I dont know
So I'm hopeful again

For those who grabbed a plot conveniently located against a void: I hope it did occure to you that those void plots are where Linden will add more lands should they run out. A void plot know may be a flat plot next week already.

If it can't be TPed to and you are on land against avoid (like the south and east sides)...then yeah you are getting neighbors.

I guess the real question is how far down the bad land choices will they go before making more land? (Tell em to make you an island, or something, or bring up a new region that has what you want)
