Im crashing Whole Sims! (serious!)... taking requests (joke!!!)

No... im not taking requests... but yes, i am crashing sims.... so unintentionally tho....

I posted last night witht the original problem... brief outline
- i crashed with my main avi
- couldnt get back online
- got error, everytime, which said 'the region you are in is going down'
- can get in world with my alt, but not my main avi
- tried 3 different pcs
- tried all the usual fixes (cache, reinstall etc)
(last nights thread with more detail.... /327/92/206010/1.html)

so.... then the story gets totally bizzare and weird... heres what i posted in the tech forum a little while ago on the end of my existing thread there

So the problem persists, but now i find out that when i log into a region... and it tells me the region is going down and i have been logged out... im taking the region with me.

Let me explain... i have 2 friends stood in a particular region (we have tried several regions) they tell me the region name and they wait... i log in to that region, and at the same time my 'region is going down' message comes up... they both crash with the same message...and when they try to log back in.... they get moved to a nearby region.

We first did this... by accident... in a very busy region... when my friend returned, the place was empty. We have tried a few quiet places since.

now this... is weird

I can demonstrate... just tell me where u r!

Yes shes definately crashing regions, I know cos Im the friend whos been testing this with her.

Infact in one region she crashed about 15 people.

So the prices for Sky (The most powerfull av on sl) to crash regions are as follows (Only Kidding)

Everytime we test if she is crashing regions it works. She doesnt even near to appear, we are on the phone when she logs on, when she tells me the message has come up it does for me aswell.

When you try to log on after you are moved to the nearby region.

Im unsure wether its a region she crashes or the sim.

Shes always been a trouble maker LOL

no, im not, im wearing boots but basic ones..... nothing with lots of prims except hair... and even that has nothing like 500!

They're probably using your account for the rolling restart. Just go through the regions alphabetically.

Didn't you get the memo from Phillip?

Hmmm, dont think this has anything to do with rolling restarts... this started last night and has continued all day.

Hahne is frequently mentioned as an ocean sim to log into when all else fails. It might do if you want to test the "accidently wearing a whole sims worth of prims" theory.

I was just thinking... ( Yeah, I know I shouldn't do that. I might hurt myself. ;) )

You may have something in your cache that's corrupted in a way it causes the sims to crash.

Try clearing your cache, then login to your Home location.

If that doesn't work, then you may have a corrupted viewer file. Try deleting everything for your viewer, then re-install it.

If that doesn't work, you'll have to call support and tell them you've become the SL anti-Christ and wreak havok and destruction everywhere you go.

That might get their attention. :D

I'll pass this along to LR who should light a fire under someone to fix your account.

Technically speaking it's not an exploit. I had a bit of a dispute with LL a couple months back over what defined an exploit; being able to crash a sim they said didn't qualify as an exploit (as you can imagine I was nonplussed, no L$10K for me). Anyway if you figure out what was causing it, don't tell anyone but LL (posting it on the forum will make you very unpopular with those in high places).

LR = Linden Review, the folks who look over forum postings that moderators (i.e. Strife) send to them.

Exploit = exploitation, using some aspect of the game engine to grief the world

10K = idunno but i want it

I thot of one other thing. It's obviously not anything you're wearing, because you were successfully logged in before this happened. I'm with Rooke, something bizarre has happened to your cache. I see that you've cleared it, and reinstalled the client, but have you tried deleting or moving it? As in:

1) Open c:\Documents and Settings\(yourusername)\Local Settings and
delete the contents of your Temp folder.
2) Open c:\Documents and Settings\(yourusername)\Application
Data\Second Life and DELETE THE ENTIRE FOLDER. (actually, i would move the directory elsewhere and rename it, if I were LL I would want a peek at the cache that can crash sims)

Incidently, if I were you I would disable my antivirus sw before trying this. They have been known to interfere with caches.

and nika... ty, i have had that advice in other threads :-) and tried it all and more.... i have tried it in fact.. on 3 different PCs... all exactly the same result...
