At least this bug picked an avatar with a really cool name for someone who can crash sims at will with a single keystroke. It would feel somehow almost ok to get your sim crashed by something named Sky Eclipse. Suppose instead you got your sim crashed by something called Hugglebunny Snookums or somesuch? Intolerable!
Plus, thank God it didn't happen to a griefer's av.
Sky, hope your problem gets cleared up soon and you can rejoin the world of us muggles real soon.

There's 2, SLeek and AjaxLife. I haven't used them, but go to and scroll down to "Alternative Second Life Interfaces".

Thanx Nope, i can confirm the same happens when running the text based programs too My alt was stood right next to where sky logs into ... and when trying to get on using the text based system, she logs in, appears for a couple of seconds, all grey, then the region crashes *sighs* Sky xxx Still no word from LL by the way....

Prob is, even tho YOU are using a text-only client, it will still make the avatar appear as normal on the Grid, so it might still be some borked part like the skin, or hair, or whatever. I'd send a friendly reminder via the support system, like a comment on the ticket, to make sure someone IS actually working on it...or even check on live chat whether someone knows more. just keep bugging them.

I don't know these text clients, but libsecondlife's TextClient.exe starts up with the avatar as a very vanilla Ruth (but with attachments), so at one point I was hopeful this might avoid a corrupt avatar shape or (some) textures. But since a Linden termed Sky "spectacularly broken," probably there's nothing mere mortals can do. Hoping for good news, soon.

"The "Sandbox Newcomb" sim is configured that way (last time I checked)." ~Strife ... Sandbox Newcomb and it's neighbor to the south, Sandbox Wanderton, both allow physics objects, and I believe they always have, save perhaps for short periods needed to deal with instances of problems caused by physics objects.
Someone reported being unable to find a libsecondlife client called "textclient". I believe the correct name is "testclient".

The latest update fromt he lindens tells me i have been refered to a 'specialist' I guess that means at least they are still working on the case. They thank me for my patience and tell me it will be delt with as soon as is possible. .............. why do people thank you for patience when you dont have a choice in the matter, how do they know im not sitting here 24hrs a day drumming on the keyboard and going thru periods of stamping my feet and hyper ventilating??? hmm?? ) Sky xxx

lol sounds good Sky. I forget if you are in the U.S., but if not, be aware that a 4-day weekend is coming up at the end of this week --- Labor Day. If you can, give them a nudge to see if the specialist can get to it before this ... many Americans take the whole week off.

I'm going to forward this to our Quality Assurance to investigate what might be going on — as suggested earlier, it's worth trying out Crash Me. I don't really read the forums, but I am on the Issue Tracker a lot, so that reminds me: if you have a crash problem which you can reproduce easily, please make sure to enter it as an issue so we can track it, and so it doesn't get lost here. More info is here: » http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Issue_trackerThanks in advance!

Sky, if you need help with Jira, I can walk thru filing the bug with you, screen by screen. We use it where I work as well.
@Alyx ... you'd be voting for the crash to be fixed, not for Sky's AV to be fixed!!!
Torley's post is good and bad news. If LL's QA is like other company's QA, they are THE department responsible for testing LL's code before it is released. QA specializes in finding and characterizing bugs, and are very tightly linked to engineering (in some cases part of it). So what Torley is volunteering to do is jump over Support's usual filtering process in order to get the crash characterized. Then it can be put in the pipeline to be prioritized for an eventual fix. So COOL. But.
If they wait for the crash to be fixed before getting Sky back on the grid ... well ... could be a bit of a wait.
So, Sky, you're not a noob and I bet you have a copy of your shape in inventory. How about if you send an email to Torley (instructions in his sig) pleading with him to get someone to create a newbie female avatar named Sky Eclipse, transfer your inventory to her, give you a listing of her friends and groups, and you'll take it from there?
They have everything they need to know from your current avatar. I bet they can just retire her corrupted little self and give you a new one. And I think inventory, friends, and groups are all you really need from there ...
Torley's a really good guy. Having his attention is valuable ... he just might help you.

I don't really read the forums, ... Torley, Sky already crashed Crash Me last week. We all know you are extremely busy, but this is one thread you might want to read all the way through. She has already tried everything that all of us here could think of. She's in your hands now.

LL needs to make something that documents when Sky's inventory loads, line by line, to find out what is causing the crash. Kind of like loading Windows in safe mode and doing the line by line prompt to execute the startup file.

The leading theory is that it is not an inventory issue, but a corruption of the actual avatar itself, as I understand it. Perhaps that is semantics, if one regards the basic avatar definition as part of inventory.

Sky said that she gets in world for a couple of seconds, and then it crashes. I would have thought it was the inventory loading... but hey, who knows. I guess it depends what part of the avatar it is... although it certainly boggles the mind.
