Evidently Jamie Bergman and Reservebank Division, two players who are strongly vocal in support of your campaign, still don't have the conviction to sign up.

Why am I still not surprised?

Updated list of residents who are opting out of premium account stipends (L$500/wk):

1. Me (Bloop Cork)
2. Nicole David
3. kerunix Flan
4. Kazanture Aleixandre
5. Mad Wombat
6. Fade Languish
7. Jon Rolland
8. Derrick Cannoli
9. Alexander Yeats
10. Nephilaine Protagonist
11. Andie Ramona
12. Svar Beckersted (welcome on board!)

Updated list of residents who are opting out of basic account stipends (L$50/wk):

1. Rasah Tigereye (two basic accounts)
2. Merhain Speculaas
3. Andie Ramona (also, his two basic accounts)

We're at L$6250 per week. How many more residents do we need? Uh, too MANY!

Keep going! Remember, this is a volunteer program only. If you want to keep your stipends that is perfectly fine. You do not have to state that here. If you want to offer your support but want to keep your stipends, please state it in this thread.

We know there are more of you that are concerned with the affect of too many stipends on the SL money supply. Were are you? Step up to the plate and show your conviction!

I love your idea of a stipend burning party every Tuesday--at what time and where? Perhaps inside Gov. Linden's home?

We will need to have two times to allow those in different places on Earth to participate. Also, if anyone can script a burning Linden, that would add to the fun.

Yeah and everytime we pay the flames 500L, a smoke cloud in form of a skull will appear, accompanied by the sound of a dying squirrel.

:D

What would happen if we pitched all our Linden's into the flame at once?

Then we are broke. lol ;)

Edit: I guess Philip Linden will emerge from the flames with a horrible mad man's laughter and runs off for a shopping spree.

There have been a lot of new threads created in the economy forum over the past several days about the Lindex or the Linden. They seem to fall into one of four categories:

1. Hostile treads calling the 15 of us (and people like us) idiots and blaming the decline of the Linden's value on the proverbial "us's". They feel we don't care about SL and are attempting to destroy the economy.

--> Whereas these people do not have to agree with us, it appears they cannot read since they have missed our point entirely. They also are lumping us into one big "us versus them" pile.

2. Those who don't agree with us but understand our concern and point of view and appreciate that we are trying a novel, grassroots, volunteer approach.

--> We appreciate these people and their opposing viewpoints also and hope to continue building a relationship with them.

3. Those that agree with us but cannot afford to opt out of their stipends

--> We appreciate the support this group has given us and understand their need to keep their stipends.

4. Those that agree with us and can afford to opt out of their stipends but have not. They choose to turn their backs on our grassroots effort.

--> What can I say, step up to the plate or stop whining. Your lack of support does not help the cause.

Oh, I guess there is the need for a fifth category:

5. Those people that do not fall into any of the four categories above

--> yeah, thinking like the group of people in category one, I must be an idiot (a vain one at that) because I thought that I could categorize the entire population of SL into four, little groups.

Okay, no more volunteers? Is it only the 15 of us who see a problem with the money supply and can afford to give up our stipends?

We need a charismatic campaign leader. Someone who joins the masses behind us. Someone who can make flaming speeches like William Wallace in "Braveheart" right before the battle. ;) ;) ;)

There are definitely people here that can make flaming speeches. The problem is that they flame the masses instead of joining them! ;)

Stipend Burning Parties
05-27-2006 15:00
I'll have stipend buring parties on Tuesdays where we can all do this together. Also there is a "Buring Iris" ball at extreme where you can come burn Linden dollars any time you want ... in public ... where it's much more exciting to do so!

For me, I'll be burning mine on Tuesdays at the burning party =c)

Although I have already burned way too much this week ... hitting that ball is addictive!

You can also buy a ball of your own for $0 and inspect the script inside to verify the Lindens are being trutly burnt.

Enjoy!

So Chilly, should I add you to the official, volunteer stipend opt out list? Or are you holding your own burning party via Buring Iris balls?

Two questions to ponder:

If it is true that it is mainly due to stipend that the value of the L$ is falling, then...

* Why has the value of WoW Gold, which is constantly created, remained relatively static? (It's a very low value but it hasn't devalued.)

* Why has the value of credits on IMVU, which has a content creation system like SL but has never had any form of regular stipend, nonetheless devalued?

The stipend and/or lack of sufficient sinks is why there is too much money. Lack of faith in LL is why the Linden has totally collapsed recently.

1. LL allowed a LONG term belief they wanted 250L/$1 a belief they recently denied.

2. LL has shown a significant lack of understanding of the economy.

3. While the Linden was hovering around it's weakest historical point LL announced plans to sell $L's. Which regardless of "current" intents if they knew the slightest bit about economics and Alan Greenspan they should have known making that announcement would be immediate disaster. That disaster followed by inept Linden response is what has pushed the L over the edge.

Doesn't change the fact that this stipend removal hhas just blown at least 80% of the market for content creators and soon, very soon they won't be able to support land owners selling land for thier shops or renting land. Without that L income from the new folks content creation is doomed.

Okay, so today LL announced, that going forward, all new basic account holders would not receive a weekly L$50 stipend. That is a good start.

I say that it is time for all Premium Account holders who say/think that stipends are a major chain on the economy to voluntarily request that their weekly stipend payments be stopped without asking anything in return--accept the hope for a healthier economy.

I will be the first to request that LL stop paying me my weekly L$500 stipend.

Who's next?

didnt read any of these post just going to say that I have a money tree taking my stipend to give to the newbies. So technically I havent been getting stipend every week anyways for my own personal use.

I dont think ending our stipend is the magic solution. I pay far more then 500 a week in advertising and uploads. LL gets its back.

Bollocks. Going here:

https://secondlife.com/currency/market.php

I see that in five days, there are as many Lindens purchased on Lindex than LindenLabs hand out in stipends for a MONTH.

And I want VALUE of money, not QUANTITY. L$1,000,000 is useless to me if I can only sell it for $10.

The sky is not falling.

You don't have to volinteer, just burn them
05-27-2006 20:35
Someone asked if you want me added to the list? No, that's ok I don't have to wait for the Lindens to have to put some policy in place for "volinteer" and they probubally never will. Why should they when you can on your own? This is user initiated, if you want to control your destiny then control it YOURSELF ... you can just do it yourself, you don't have to "volinteer" .... JUST DO IT.

I'll be burning my stipend this Tuesday. Come join in.

You are probably correct, Chilly. LL will not accept our volunteer opting out. Most likely they will ignore our drivel in this thread. Most grassroots efforts advocacy are ignored at first. That does not make them useless. Read this post in this thread by Jon Rolland to learn why our effort is important. His point is valid.

However Jon this move of LL to stop basic stipends on new accounts will remove about 80% of the customer base in SL, tehreby making it imposible for most of us to do any busines. All LL has accomplished with this move is expanding the situation onto a new front. Now not only will the L fail but so will in world business. This will cause a snowball efect in the falling L as well. I am wonderring how ever how long it will be before the "saviour" posts about thier competing currency which will be backed by something that does not exist.

I was going to challenge that also, Musuko, but I see you have already. :)

In this thread, we have tried to use hard data when possible to back up our viewpoints. How did you calculate the figure of 80%, Dmitri?
