I like the idea of stopping to use the Linden. Dont buy or trade in Lindens and pay for your land in American Dollars.

The content providers are trying to punish the bill paying side of the house, well two can play the same game by refusing to support them. Lets see who can last longer :) They can swim in their Lindens as far as I am concerned.

4. Kazanture Aleixandre
5. Mad Wombat
6. Fade Languish
7. Jon Rolland
8. Derrick Cannoli (welcome on board!)
9. Alexander Yeats (welcome on board!)

Updated list of residents who are opting out of basic account stipends (L$50/wk):

We're at L$4650 per week. How many more residents do we need? Uh, too MANY!

Keep going! Remember, this is a volunteer program only. If you want to keep your stipends that is perfectly fine. You do not have to state that here. If you want to offer your support but want to keep your stipends, please state it in this thread.

I think you are forgetting that without the content creators you would be sitting on a barren sim complaining about how awful the "stock" SL skin is and how crappy the clothes are.

But since I've got all those things now, those who are in it for the RL money can go blow it out places only a hardwar elit prim shines.

If you really don't want or need them, why not tithe them to builds or organizations that you like?

Yes, several people have offered that as a suggestion in this thread. It is their prerogative and not a bad idea.

Read Jon Rolland's post (#69) and see why he thinks it could send the wrong message.

Prices can raise. People can stop undercutting. One side of the economy needs to quit killing itself. And its not the stipend side.

People will keep undercutting each other, and prices will continue to rise, as long as the amount of $L coming in exceeds the amount of $L going out, minus the amount of new active accounts joining. Essentially, yes, people can just keep raising prices, which would increase the amount of sales and buys on Lindex, but the ratio of one to the other would likely be the same as L$ values go through $500/1, $1000/1, $5000/1, and on and on.

Then I'll buy from those that don't cash out and keep their prices low. The ones cashing out lose mor emoney, eventually leaving SL to those who enjoy it for the sake of it.

win/win

You do know where to get free skins? Skins that run 99 lindens? I do. And they don't look half bad. We don't need the linden sellers.

The ones who cash out do it to pay for their land tier to be able to give you a place to hang out and allow you to buy stuff to enjoy in game. I'm not in this "fix the economy, do somethig drastic" thing because I want to make money on $L, I'm in it because, as I said, everyone who owns land here, everyone who makes content here, everyone who donates any sort of time or money to here, is currently loosing out big time. The only ones who are not affected by it are the freeloaders like you.

Doesnt mean the clothing industry isnt a multi-billion dollar industry. Personally I rarely go clothes shopping unless I absolutely need something, but that doesnt mean my girl doesnt shop every chance she gets.

I own land. I run a shop. I pay for it out of my bank account. I'm not losing out, nor am I a freeloader.

It's greedy because you can afford to throw away your money and don't care if what you get in return isn't worth anything, since you don't even do anything with it anyway. They can't afford to throw away money. Which makes YOU the equivalent of a greedy rich spoiled brat type who wants to keep what she has at the expense of everyone else. I wonder if there should be some name to call your types by, too (something equivalent to Land Baron).

If you're not selling your $L, or increasing prices to match the $L devaluation, screwing poor people out of being able to buy anything, then how are you not loosing out?

Mhm, and if you worked a wage that was actually adjusted by the state minimum wage, would you be a spoiled rich brat too?

Last raise I got was because minimum wage went up. If anyone 'can't afford to throw money away' its people like me.

Having only a few select people voluntarily give up their stipends
won't resolve the problem. They need to axe them across the board
for everybody.

That's not the fix either. They need to stop the PURPOSEFUL driving down of L value by a certain few moronic individuals who are trying to destroy the market for someone bigger yet who basically remains silent.
