I have my own place to hang out at I pay good Americans Dollars to Linden Labs to be able to do so. I pay not only premium but tier as well. Why are you calling me a "freeloader" when I pay more to Linden Labs than for TV? (TV antenna not allowed in my gated community).

Why do I have to support their gameplay?

Oh, you're not a spoiled rich brat, you're just someone who's not smart enough to get a good job iRL, and too dumb to figure out when they're being screwed in game as well. Every day you hold on to your $500L without spending it, you're throwing it away. Every day that the economy goes down, your money is being thrown away. Fact is same applies to your RL money and income as well (you actually earn anywhere from %1 to %3 LESS every year), although luckily the US$ inflation isn't nearly as bad.

Oh, and you are loosing money by selling things in game cheaply. You loose $10 (minus land tied tier fees) a month doing that.

Dmitri, could you PLEASE explain to me how that would work? I've heard this many times, but never noticed a hint of it while trading, and the idea just doesn't make sence to me. I mean, it would costs 100's of US$ to do this on a daily basis, and there is no possible profit from making the linden extremely cheap. I mean, I've heard people say that "they will drive down the price, then when it's really cheap, buy it all up and charge people a fortune for that." That doesn't make any sence because 1. they have to spend a lot of money driving it down, and 2. they would have to make that money back, PLUS interest on the time value of that money, from a place where if the money gets expensive the game owners can simply increase stippends again. How, and why, would people be doing this? What's the purpose?

Um... because you play on their land and use their content, ideas, and contributions to comunity and society of SL? Just a guess. You can afford $10 a month of $72 a year. Others can't really afford $400 a month or $3000 a year (some as much as $10,000 a year). Bit of a diff there.

They need to call my firms sl customer service line (800) 883-5825! It is not my problem that they pay out such money but really $192 a month plus $72 a year is not that much money. Why should I support their habbit? Nobody but me pays for mine.

Yes, support the revolution! do not buy Lindens or content! New residents should consider either buying or renting from Anshe Chung and pay her in dollars. This is a win-win for the both of you.

No one is forcing them to pay $400 a month, and they get to be an entertainer/celebrity in return. I don't use that many people's content and I've paid for it when I have. In several cases they've displaced me.

If this was actually done, it would threaten Linden Labs because effectively all land would be being tiered at the maximum discount (which Anshe pays at).

If Premium Stipend were to be removed it's likely that this would happen because there would no longer be any motivation to pay higher prices to buy land directly from LL.

Must you be a premium member to own an island? I do own a sim, and technically my land tier is nothing on most of the screens that describe such. Even on the SL website it says Land Owned = 0m

Soooo if anyone has any info on this it'd be much appreciated. Will remove my tier AND save me 10 bux a mont (w000ts).

I didn't see anything about this on the website, and although I could email LL I doubt they'd be pushing each other out of the way to be the first to help me give them less money.

I'm not losing money, I'm paying to play a game. Its a philosophical choice to exist off of linden exchange or real world money, and I choose to leave my lindens in game.

Now I'll take my 9.50$ an hour job and keep it, thanks. I happen to enjoy the physicalaity of my work, it keeps a good balance and helps keep me in shape, unlike a desk job. I could also go work in the medical field and easily make 14/hour. But I DON'T. Because its a balance of reward versus stress. I KNOW my stipend is losing 'value' in your mindset, but it isn't in mine because I refuse to pay the higher prices. People like Lewis are the ones getting my business now, those doing it for the JOY of it and not to make a real world profit.

A philosophical choice is far different that 'dumb.'

Buying an island isn't a requirement to play SL. Their choice, their consequences.
