Okay, so today LL announced, that going forward, all new basic account holders would not receive a weekly L$50 stipend. That is a good start.

I say that it is time for all Premium Account holders who say/think that stipends are a major chain on the economy to voluntarily request that their weekly stipend payments be stopped without asking anything in return--accept the hope for a healthier economy.

I will be the first to request that LL stop paying me my weekly L$500 stipend.

Having only a few select people voluntarily give up their stipends
won't resolve the problem. They need to axe them across the board
for everybody.

I can't volunteer for this unless everyone else does. Why should I be the only person in SL who isn't getting the best price for L$?

Why not.

No one else will until there is a significant amount doing the same. So sure, I volunteer.

Volunteering would be the only way it can be done.

When people signed up for SL, they had an affirmative agreement with LL to provide a weekly stipend. Lawyers would chomp at the bit to take this class action to litigation. The class would win, LL would lose....plain and simple.

That is why ONLY new residents will not get weekly stipends.

From a legal standpoint, LL knows better. I wish their economists (or lack of same) were as savvy.

Hey, that's already a reduction of L$1000 a week.

I second Nicole's reply. RBD and Shaun, some people have to take the first steps. For those of us that keep pounding at this issue, it will help show our sincerity. RBD, you're correct. It won't make a difference initially. But it may get LL thinking.

Weedy is also right. Until LL changes the TOS and lets everyone know that when their monthly or yearly contract is up for renewal, stipends will no longer be granted, the only way to remove stipends is voluntarily.
Will LL accept our request? Probably not, but you never know.

If you want to opt out of your stipend but cannot at this time, that's fine.

So far, we have two opting out of premium account stipends:

1. Me (Bloop Cork)
2. Nicole David

Spend them in non-commercial classified ads. it's a good sink :)

Edit: i own a land named "dweel and stipend factory", near the volcano, filled with gold :)

That's another option, Kerunix! Although it does not prevent new Lindens from flooding into the economy, it does mop them up as a sink. They can support a non-profit or a for profit. Either way, the Lindens enter a sink.

So, do want your name added to the list, or do you plan to fund others' classified advertising

Uh, I think you misunderstand the phrase "opting out." It is a voluntary request for LL to stop paying us our weekly L$500 stipend. Since the Lindens never get created, they can't line "some barons pockets" as you're suggesting.

Oh no, I read it. I just don't see stipends as the main reason the linden exchange is devaluing. I feel its mor eon those who undercut, regardless of the rationality. The 'one L more' adds up and pushes it down.

And yes, voluntarily cutting my stipend might lead to a raise in value. But to whom? Certianly not me.

Now -you- look ridiculous. Have fun.

Screw you, that's my upload and ad money.

I pop my 500L and more on textures and animations. I have to upload the product, then the picture of the product. Then the ad sign. Now I'm going to make notecard giver textures, open a new stall, and buy another ad. And take pictures.

See the thing is that the only people bitching about the economy are people with oogobs of lindens to sell. The rest of us are happily trudging about, minding our own business, buying lindens on lindex, and spending our stipends. At your stores. Giving you oogobs of lindens to sell.

So you see the money being made and that's all you can think of. You think this will solve your woes and maybe it will and maybe it won't but I, like Jonas, don't think it will because its not the only thing happening here. But you've latched onto eliminating stipends like some sort of pancea for all your economic woes -- the same way you latched on to removing dwell and, to some extent, DI, although the cry to eliminate DI was never at the same pitch because, after all, many of you were the major recipients of that little gem.

So you cry out for stipends to be removed and you don't care one bit for those people who have premium accounts and who spend that 500 and no more. Let them buy it on Lindex you say. You just don't care as long as you are still getting your cash. And you bitch and moan and whine about how we don't care and how LL doesn't care that you've made a business out of this.

And you are right. I don't care. Because you don't. From where I sit -- it looks like all you care is your money. And you are asking me to care about this to and, well, I just don't. Just like you don't care about mine. Just like you don't care that I don't really want a job in SL because, well, y'know I have one. In the real world. I don't need or want to work a second job in SL.

So no I won't volunteer to give up my stipends. This is something that was promised to me as part of a premium account and other than having land, there's really no reason to have a premium account if I don't get a stipend.

I volunteer to collect any premium stipends that aren't needed, and use them for competitions, advertising, tips and suchlike to reward players who do contribute something rather than just sitting in camping chairs.

Thx but i already do that. and it won't remove L$ from the economy.
(i given around an half-million already)

I know my voluntary stipend cut won't help the economy.
And i'm against the stipend removal.

I give my stipend to say "hey ! there is too much money added every week. And i'm not just whining, I'm ready to abandon my stipend, because i can"
