My first name I borrowed from a quaint town I lived near on the Big Island of Hawaii.
I thought it was a pretty name and have used it online for a few years now.

It is pronounced... Pa-hoe-ah

For a such a short name it's proven hard to figure out the pronunciation and can trip up a lot of people on the keyboard. So my friends just call me P. :)

Jade I chose because it went well with Pahoa and gave the whole name and exotic sound.

I chose Diamonique casue it sounded exotic. In There my name is Tutu and really didn't want to use that name in here. And Livingston is the last name of my favorite actress Natalia Livingston. I thought it a classy name.

Excellent and fascinating thread =^_^=

Fleabite
is my callsign, given to me long ago when I flew an F/A-18 Hornet dialup vs. 3 guys in Seattle, back before i could simply play online against anyone anywhere. I knew fighter combat pretty well so I was endlessly frustrated by the fact that i couldnt get a single kill against these guys in almost a YEAR, even when I picked up on their technique. Best I could do was latch on to one of their butts and chip the paint long enough for my wingman to get a kill shot. So the radio chatter would be along the lines of: "Flea on my 6" or "Getting Fleabites....need assist".
I was NOT amused. Considering these jerks were classless enough to shoot me on the carrier deck, i came to hate my new moniker. That is untill they were called to duty and shipped out to the Persian Gulf with the RL unit they were assigned to. Bastids were actual Hornet pilots and didnt tell me until the very end.

Can't choose your own callsign, so I guess I'm stuck with Fleabite :)

Beach because there's a beach in Plymouth called Whitehorse, that has sand fleas, that we used to call fleabite beach...and because it rhymes. What happened to my Beach cousins in SL? Haven't seen one in ages.

The cat AV, btw is a character I draw, not named flea, but Mia.

Kiamat is the Indonesian word for the battle at the end of the world-ie Armaggeddon.

Dusk....well, cuz it's cool.

So altogether it means the beginning of night after Armaggeddon.

I chose my last name first because the choices are fixed. Nothing jumped out at me after reading through it a couple of times and then it hit me. Grace... I am a Christian and my faith is very important to me so what better last name for me than Grace signifying Gods Grace which I know I am so unworthy of.

Then Billy followed. I wanted a first name that was kinda southern being that I am a southerner. My first name was Buck in another game and I thought I would try something different. Billy just sounded good with Grace and I like the name so... whalaa... Billy Grace. ;)

I always give my online personas silly names. In Diablo II, I was Victim Here. One of my Motor City Online personas was Ann Bulanz (say it 3 times fast). Why should SL be any different.

After going over the list of names a couple of times, and thinking most of them were kinda cheesy, I settled on Leviathan. From there, I decided the name had to be an oxymoron. I tried Tiny for the first name, but that didn't work. Inspired by the settings on Reducto's shrink ray (Harvey Birdman reference) I picked Teeny, which did work.

I just needed a first name that could be easily written across a nubile female backside using chocolate-based bodypaints.

ahhhhh, Maxx.....you are MY type of guy! LOL

Sort of after Milo Auckerman, singer of the Descendants. Not necessarily my favorite band, but I've always liked the name.

Charles Bukowski is an author of depressing short stories.

feniks is fonetic for Phoenix, the fire bird who rises out of the ashes and believe me, I feel the flames as I type. It has been my internet name for years now.

Stone, because I knew I would outlive all the other Stones and be the only one left, the gypsy that remains...

At the time I signed up, "Valen" appeared in the list of available SL names.

As a fan of the TV series "Babylon 5", I had an affinity for that name...

One of the characters was the original station Commander, Jeffrey Sinclair.

As the series progressed, we found that Sinclair was the individual who, thru the magic of time travel, became the mythic figure "Valen" revered by the Minbari race.

thus, "Sinclair = Valen".

I haven't really watched Babylon 5, but I like the story behind your name -- and I like time travel too. ^_^ I know what you mean, I was reading synopsis spoilers... way cool, temporal-spatial loops like that.

Funny thing about Fleabite... I used to think she had that name because she was such a dirty, chainsmoking, fleabitten kitty who needed lots of luv and attention! :D

Gosh, you know sis, time travel messes with my usage of verb tenses.

Change "I used to think" to "I will think"...

FUTURE TENSE.

Urizenus Sklar. Well Urizen is easy, it is from the book of Urizen, by William Blake:

From: someone
What are his nets & gins & traps. & how does he surround him
With cold floods of abstraction, and with forests of solitude,
To build him castles and high spires. where kings & priests may dwell.

A nice critique of life in SL, no?

And 'Sklar' because I have a colleague named Larry Sklar who works on the philosophy of physics and has a cool book called 'Space, Time, and Spacetime'.

How freakin' long is this thread!!

Jaxsin is a corruption of Jackson, (I'd been listening to lots of Jackson Browne and I'm a fan of Samuel L.) that I thot sounded like it could have come from a Gibson novel.

Moseley is for a writer who will always have a fond place in my heart, Walter Mosely. Among other things, he wrote Devil In A Blue Dress.

Just wanted to add my name to the roles.

Meh..

Arbel after the character off of Star Ocean: Til the End of Time, Albel Nox. Even though he's a guy, and I'm a girl, he's was just so badass....and soooo good evil-looking.. *drool* At the time I started SL, I was planning to make a female version of him, but that didn't happen....so....uh...yeah....one day i will....

Vogel because I wanted an evil last name (damn I wanted to be evil back then), and I thought, "hey last names starting with "V" always sound evil!"...Later on I found out that it meant "bird", lol.

My first ever email account was JDDriscoll5@yahoo.com, but it was hacked because someone talked to me in a chat room and used social engineering to get my password recovery question details.

I swore from then on to make security a strong focus of what I do, and I created a new account, a secure one. This time the answer to my password question, was my password. This was the secure account, and to mark it as so, it was casually called John_secure.

Because that one hasn't been hacked in all these years, I called many other accounts John_secure, because it made sense to have one username. But over time, and with some forms not accepting underscore, it got shortened to Jsecure. And it's shorter and easier to type so it became my new default.

When I joined Second Life I was Jsecure Apollo, because the mission to the moon has always seemed kind of cool to me.

When life accounts were being discontinued I hurried to get one, and as Tom Hanks was in Apollo 13, I got Jsecure Hanks.

I wanted a name I could do something with. After scanning the list of possible last names, I chose Vogel because it means 'bird' in German. Then I needed to be some sort of bird, and Robin worked for me. Seems like most people are happy to see a robin in the Spring, and I hope most people in SL are happy to see me.

Catfart was the name of a Dungeons and Dragons NPC I created in the mid 70's. When I started needing an online name, All the ones I liked were gone (I dont like being Cat109 or XXXCatXXX).

In desperation trying to find a unique name in one game, I remembered Catfart (And his brother Dogbreath). Strangely enough, it wasnt taken. Since then I've been able to use the same name in all games, never meeting another Catfart, although I've seen a couple of Dogbreath's.

I was a bit stumped by SL's second name system (Wish more games would use it). Luckely Grayson happened to be the name of the of the ruling family in the old D&D game that Catfart came from, so Catfart Grayson I became.
