When I first looked through the names available when I registered, I thought they all pretty much "sucked" (no offense to anyone with a name from that period). But... besides being a graphic "artist", I am also musician and noticed Tabla was available. I thought... "Cool... at least I can have a eastern Indian drum for a last name" So... that is what I chose and... in some ways it beats my long tern chat last name of "23"... *chuckle*. A funny thing to me is that I have never met a Tabla in SL who semed to know what the name "meant" And... btw... my real first name is Sami... and I've had that much longer than the sim Sami has... LOL!

When I realized my RL signature had gone from Ellen to Elle (yes, just lazy penmanship), I thought that sounded nice. So when I started in Uru Live I tried to be Elle, but it would not let me (no last names makes for a lot of ppl with numbers at the end of their names), so i just MADE it UP. Enjah. No one else had it then, and no one else wants it! LOL
Since then, I have seen it sounds kinda jewish/french or something and kinda spiritual. that is all okay by me, so I have kept it.

Iris - there were a lot of reasons for this choice - a lot of meanings: Iris the eye, the aperture, the flower. Visual, open and beautiful. Also I rez - a pun.
Lament: unfortunately apt choice. There is nothing that moves me more than a sad song of loss (well except perhaps good sex!) Appealed to my melancholic side.
Sometimes wish i had chosen Torch Song - like that one too

I wanted an Indian avatar (Asian, not American), so I hit Google and started looking for good female names. "Chandra" is "moon" or "of the moon" in Hindi. A pretty name, and I like the symbology. Indians don't have family names (for a great explanation, see this page), so I had a lot of leeway here. Page just flowed well with the first name.

I love opera .... a great German opera full of heart-wrenching passion is "Tristan und Isolde." Isolde is such a musical, lovely name, pronounced IH-SOUL-DA. There's a beautiful Irish version of it, too: Yseult. Anyway, I love the name ... and who doesn't love hope?

From: Tito Gomez Always wondered how people picked their SL first name and last name. Care to share?
Mine ...
Tito: My wild an crazy uncle's nickname (Spanish nickname for Tomás)
Gómez: My Colombian ex's last name
- T - I picked Torgeson cause I liked it and it sounds close to the last name of dear friend of mine. I dunno why I picked winter. It just seemed appropriate at the time.

I live on a large lake, and if I look up from the screen I see bald eagles, osprey, sometimes otters, etc. I like the osprey very much -- I used the word for an email name, then a There name, then in PE I squashed more names together to become Fauxvia Ostherian. Besides, I love sushi and want to fly.

A Rose by any other name...
12-31-2004 15:47
Baccara is the name of a rose of which I am particularly fond; it''s as close to the elusive Black Rose as you can get. It has a very small delicate head, quite velvety and is almost always grown exclusively in Europe (Holland). In addition, I truly loved the sound of the name itself
I chose Rhodes because I liked the sound of it with Rhodes. Rose was actually available at that time, but I thought, well toooo corny...
Baccara looks to me like she fits her name...

hosequeen get back here
12-31-2004 15:55
Come ON HOSEQUEEN. We've got the weirdest names in SL. You owe us an explanation. I couldn't resist this, as I spend half my time in SL explaining my name. So here it is. Munchflower, contrary to popular belief, is NOT a pussy eating reference. (laugh) It's a nickname I've had for ages. One of only two ever, the other was Flasch but it was taken. It was the name of a crow I was fond of. When the crow died, i adopted it's moniker because nobody ever had it. It's that exciting. As for Zaius, hell, it wasn't like there a lot of last names that went with Munchflower. I like this thread. And I demand that hosequeen get back here and defend her honor. - munch

An approximation of Rhombur Vernius, a rather cool character from the Dune Series.

The short story is that my SL first name is short for my RL name, and the last name just had a nice ring to it since im close to scotland and all

Well, I always used Lance as my gamer handle.. since the original Zelda, to be exact..
LeFay just kinda went well with it.
Inadvertently, I ended up with LL as my initials..

Okay so Rylee is the name I would've given my daughter if I had had another. It just sounds so sweet to me. Richelieu just went so well with it. And it sounds so regal. The whole thing just kinda rolled off my tongue. Yummy

I picked my last name first I always liked the unpronounceability of Welsh names! Then I needed a fitting first name And no, I'm not Welsh... not even British

Starwaster because I decided I needed a fairly unique name what with the population of the internet exploding years ago (too many 'The Traveller's out there).
My RL given name is Kevin and some friends used to call me 'Kevin Landwaster' after a character in the Thomas Covenant stories. So I decided to modify it a bit for a sci-fi sounding name when playing sci-fi themed games online. Usually I just go by Starwaster and for almost 10 years I was the only one in the world online, but recently I've seen a couple of usages of it not related to myself.
The 'last' name is inconsequential, I just picked something inobtrusive that wouldn't bother me so much. (I preferred not to have one but that wasn't an option). Out of the available 'last' names, Peregrine didn't bother me so much. So, Starwaster Peregrine.
