How did you pick your SL name?

I have been always Andie in online games.
I was Andie Anderson in TSO.(http://andieanderson.homestead.com/index.html)

I came in SL and chose Apollo, because he was the Greek God of arts, archery, and divination.
Somethings that I always wanted to be. ;)

When I had first started my account I had recently learned some chinese and I had chosen Wen as my chinese name, which means roughly "calm". As for my last name, Nomad links well with the idea of wandering through the world, and its just cool.

I just wanted a name that I was sure no one else had i didnt want regular girl names like jennifer or kelly or something i wanted something diffrent a name that defined something. And I remeber my ballet teacher of 15 years is such a hippy ,but not a peacful hippy she was agressive,so she used those words alot so it was only natural the definitions started to mean something to me. Divine I picked because it just seemed to go well with Karma and yet again it was just one of those words that reminded me of my ballet techer and come to think of it she was such a b.i.t.c.h.

Real name is Bram. But because that is a weird name for americans I thought Mark would be better. IF you turn Bram around you get Marb and that's almost Mark ;)
and the last name I just picked.

Alexa because that's what most people call me in RL. My parents were in Egypt when I was conceived and they named me Alexandria which is a bit of a mouthful.

Hope - wish I could change it - if I had seen Perkins I would have chosen it, as it was the name of my old cat.

I am Mark Jensen in RL, but Mark Jensen was already taken in SL. So, seeing that I am *after* Mark Jensen...

I've been through quite a few internet names, since I ever started chatting:

Dessider - Back 12 years ago, I didn't even understand the mechanics of nicknames on IRC.

pobox - Finally understood them, and got sick of "dessider". This one stuck with me for quite a long time. It's a courrier company and I related to it because I considered it meant "reliable", which I think of myself as being.

Evolution - Came up with this one december last year. Needed a radical image change. Just sounded fit for me.

Marker - When I started my metaverse life, I was born in There. Evolution and pobox were both taken, and I hate using Evolution_243872 or xXx_Evolution_xXx. So I was like excited and in a hurry. The first thing I saw close by was my lil niece's markers, wrote Marker and it passed... simple as that.

Marker Dinova - So making way to the Best metaverse of all times, I needed a last name. I had this little online romance with an italian gal in There, and was hoping it would merge into SL, so I picked a italian-ish last name. Heh.. never happened, but I feel good about the name.

The difference between me and you = 0/2

I never thought we were so similar

I figures no noe else would use it. ;)

Well, if i had found Ogami as a last name here, be sure i would have at least tried to get it with Itto as first name... I loved Itto Ogami... spent a lot of nights watching that serial (since italian TV used to broadcast it at 2.00 or even 3.00 AM...).

About my SL name: I checked last names list out to find something inspiring, suggesting me a corresponding first name. When i read Partridge, suddenly the word Cartridge came to my mind. I heard a click in my head and my hand wrote that word and clicked on the submit button before i even realized what i was doing... (being italian and using english only as a second language, i don't really know what my name brings to english motherlanguage people minds...)

I don't know if mine is a funny name, but i know there's a group about that and i would like to know if i am eligible...

I wish sometimes that we could change our names because I saw that one last name was Jones and I want so badly to name myself Halo Jones (after the comic book character).

Hang on, is that copyright infringement?

Uh, paolo, beau is just french for beautiful. It can also mean lover or boyfriend. Feminine is belle, plural is beaux.

LOL - There's no way you could know that I have 5 years of JH/SH French to my credit. That said, the male first name "Beau" is a derivative of "Beauregard." En Englais, that would roughly translate into "beautiful/handsome glance."

Korg - Grok backwards.... An old orc character from at least six mmorpgs.
Stygian - related to death.

Orcs are surrounded by death, causing it, being made so by each other/the forces of Good.. etc. So, putting the two together is not a stretch - Korg, the Orcish Deathbringer was the thought. Failing that, just be a curmudgeon - at least in the forums.

ohh and don't forget aside from Korg's Orcish origins ( :D ), the term "Grok" also was coined by Robert A. Heinlein in his Stranger in a Strange Land, and means "To understand profoundly through intuition or empathy".

Gawd what a good book that was! I should put it on my "must re-read" list!

I didn't see Pendragon on the list, so I chose the next one that 'felt' right. Little did I know if I'd signed on when I was told about SL (six months earlier) I would have found my net-name! lol I've been fascinated with Egypt since I was a kid, and upon a bit of research I found that Nefertiti meant 'a beautiful woman comes'. Heck, why not...since I could make up what my AV would look like.

I read more posts then I reply to but this one is one of the few that caught my eye as a reply post. :)
Fiona is a character created by one of my fav authors. She is one of many royal children born in a world called Amber. Fiona is alos one of the better behave characters. As for my last name...
I chose it because it had the same number of letters as my first and I thought that 10 letters is prefferable to the more then ten in my real name. :)

I think of my name as chopping the hedges with the swords. But I didn't want the name chop hedges and I thought about the knights and their lances, so Lance Hedges I became

I love white birds, they mean love and peace and the meaning of calming airs, is the icon of the Holy Spirit and I believe in God, I like when a Dove crosses my Path suddenly while driving or just walking, looking at the sky thru the window, means that God will be always with me...

And then well, Palomma means Dove in spanish, just that in spanish Paloma is spelled with one M and to make it more to look like a name I added the other M....

I hope this didn't sound corny to some people... as long as I am happy with the meaning of it, is what it matters.... I just wanted to share....

Strife - Back in URU i was having a dyslexic moment, was looking for the word anguish but all i could pull out of my mind was Strife. Like Strife better, get to cause havok where i go. I kept the name when i came to SL because some of my friends came from URU with us.

Onizuka - was feeling in a Japanese mood. And everyone likes demons.

Ursa - the name of the most magnificant creature I will ever know - my wolfdog who died (in my arms) way too young of osteosarcoma - 130 lbs of exuberance.

Falcone - I like falcons hawks and such
