How are things down south in Briarcliff?

LH does help out people. The fact that one person who had the livehelp tag on talked to you does not mean that the many other helpers are inept or untrained. The fact is this person that spoke to you was not on LH business it appears.

It was not like you asked for help and he didn't answer your questions. Please don't twist it around to make it look this way. There are many trained LH users that put up with crap like this for no compensation. You use the cop analogy , but cops are people too , just as LH are normal users. They aren't employed by LL .. they actually PAY LL fees just like everyone else. Paying LL a monthly fee or whatever and putting up with this crap makes me respect them that much more.

If you don't want their free help don't ask and go to a Linden. It apperas your entire example here has NOTHING to do with Live Help's abilities and more the act of one person who happened to talk to you with the LH tag on.

No one went to school to become a LH .. not many people have been here long enough to be an expert jack of all trades. SL is only about 2 years old.

i'm starting to lurv how you go on about customers in the weirdest way. what's fun is to substitute "customers" for "precious bodily fluids" in all your posts. it still works and it even makes more sense in a strange way.

Once again, here you go blathering on about something you don't understand and try to indict the entire group. You really make this too easy. In order to become a Live Helper, you have to have been a member of SL for at least 90 days (not 30), and cannot have had any suspensions in the past 6 months prior. Moral outrage averted!

Perhaps that was the Old Live Help? I'm just reiterating the rule as it was cut and paste to me by a knowledgeable source. If it was wrong, I stand correted, I eat my asshat LOL. But let someone else who has the actual document step forward and cut and paste it as it stands today : )

You apply through that web page. There is no inworld hand out. And as to 30 day grandfathering, I dunno, I've been here nearly 18 months.

Umm there is nothing handed out in world Prof. The procedure is applied for at the website.
I don't know what you are talking about with the grandfathering deal. It is stated clearly on that link what is required. When you are accepted you get an email from Haney asking if you are still interested. You reply yes or no. A day or two later you get another email and then a group invite. Hope I have dispelled some of the myth for you.

I wouldn't normally respond to these kinds of things but since I'm the "Mr Live Help" that has got Prokofy so wound up I thought it might be helpful to try and calm things down a little. So...

What was I doing at Prokofy's island?
Looking for an island to buy actually. I checked it out the day before but it was a bit expensive for me, then when I logged back in that's where I appeared. I'm afraid Live Help don't have a magic teleporter that takes us anywhere (more's the pity!) we can only go to the person that asks for help.

It was a nice island, though I personally didn't think it was worth $500 and I thought he'd have trouble selling it for that, but obviously that's not true if he's already had offers.

I probably should have changed my group tag when I was out doing my own business, but I tend to forget because I don't have them displayed on my screen.

I wasn't there on any Live Help business, and if I gave Prokofy the impression I was then that's my mistake. My opinion on the value of his island is entirely mine and doesn't represent LL or Live Help.

This is really the bit I want to set straight, I didn't "cross the street" to insult his land valuation skills. If I was looking to wind someone up for the sport of it I'm sure I could have done a much better job.


Am I a "tekkie content baron"?
I don't think so (but I'm not entirely sure what it is). I make my SL living objects content I've made, it's only a couple of hundred L$ a week, but it helps stretch my stipend a bit further not really a baron. I've traded in land myself in the past and made some L$ at it, but I found it quite hard work so I stopped.

I don't have any problem with people selling land, but when I'm buying I want to get it for as low a price as possible and if that means talking the product down then I think that's a fair negotiating strategy. If I went to buy a car I'd probably take a good look at it and say "Well, it's nice, but it's a bit scratched, you'll never get $1000 for that!"



What do I know about island sims and land prices?
Not a lot really, I've never bought an island so, yes I did get the price wrong. I didn't realise you had to pay to set it up as well as the $195 to use it. As for how much land is worth, I guess I don't know how much about that either since I thought no-one would give him $500 for his bit. I don't know much about cheese either, but I'm happy to express an opinion on it. It's probably as much use as my opinion on land values so you probably don't want to take much notice of it.


Am I a member of some "old boys" network?
I don't think so. If I am they've been having the secret meetings without me! I'm not really an old boy either, I think I started playing in May 2004. I don't think Live Help is any kind of exclusive club. I saw a page on the SL website asking for people to volunteer so I just sent off an e-mail. I assume it was picked at random from the people who responded, the only criteria was that you had to have a clean rap sheet. There was no sacrificing of chickens required or any stripping naked and carrying a big rock.

I'd assume that as long as Prokofy has a clean rap sheet then he can volunteer as well. You don't get anything for doing it, just a warm happy feeling when someone says "thanks". We don't have a 100% success rate, some things you just can't answer as a player and either have to ask one of the Linden liasons for assistance or ask the caller to contact the billing department or support via e-mail. Some things I just can't answer because I don't know.

I don't think it's really fair to criticise Linden Labs for not getting an answer when you call Live Help. The way I see it, we filter out the everyday calls about how to do things in the game (like taking things out of inventory, changing your hair colour etc), calls that the Linden Labs liasons would normally have to take so that they can help people out with the more complicated problems.

As for gaining glory, well I'd like some glory please, if anyone knows where it is I'll go and get a nice wheelbarrow of it, I hear it's good for the roses.


Am I elite and arrogant?
Well, I might be, it depends who you ask I suppose, obviously there's at least one person who thinks I am and I'd guess he won't be voting for me as World President. Most people exchange more than 50 words with me before deciding though (OK, it might have been more than 50 words, I didn't go back and count but I'm sure someone will).


Do I know it all?
Sadly, no. I think if I knew it all there wouldn't be any room in my head for remembering where I left my car keys.



Finally I'd also quite like it if Prokofy didn't call me a "fucktard". That's quite a nasty word and I certainly wouldn't use it with my worst enemy, let alone someone who I thought had slighted me in a computer game.

So anyway, that's my view of things. I'm sure Prokofy is hopping up and down with barely contained rage by now and has a whole tirade prepared so I yield the floor for him whilst I go and live the rest of my life
