With all the personal attacks, we need some antipersonal attacks to keep things balanced.

Has the hegemony been ended yet? And it is never, ever replaced by barking that you're going to replace it. Nothing gets people diggin' in thier heels against a change like telling 'em it's going to be forced on them. _____________________

Dogspot, I am sorry your SL experience is being ruined by the forums. One thing that should be understood is that the forums are not SL, My SL experience is fine. My forum experience, OTOH, is less than fine. You make some good points, most of which I agree with. |

I'd just like to take this opportunity to mention that hegemoney is never ended - it's merely (and only occasionally) replaced with a different group/nation. And it is never, ever replaced by barking that you're going to replace it. Nothing gets people diggin' in thier heels against a change like telling 'em it's going to be forced on them. Perhaps. But it's pretty clear that there are some here who feel they rule. I think that's wrong and should change. The only effective way to deal with such people is to use their own tactics. I don't want some other "rulers". I just want people to be able to come here and not live in fear that they're gonna get ARed if they step out of line. |

It really was a clever idea to make these comments about you when we both know you're talking about me. What is it with people who always believe everything is about them and always post in such a shrill voice. It's as though they're being manufactured somewhere. _____________________

Don't let your ego write checks your stamina can't cash, friend. I have plenty of stamina. And don't doubt my resolve. I can only speak for myself, but I am confident there are other forum members who feel your thread is little more than he-man doorway pissing and more than anything else, you've notified everyone to bypass the grain and take you with the block of salt you undoubtedly deserve. (yawn) Everyone is entitled to an opinion and to be bored, I guess. |

Yeah, Cocoa... funny how that works isn't it? Someone steps up and get's their mommy on, and the world reminds them that they are, in fact, not the world's mommy. It is funny. But funny strange. It's strange how some sort of nerve seems to have been struck. With so many of the same people continuing to admonish, provoke and taunt my posts. Yeah, funny. |

The only effective way to deal with such people is to use their own tactics. I don't want some other "rulers". I just want people to be able to come here and not live in fear that they're gonna get ARed if they step out of line. In an honest effort to help, I ask: We have a mix of the trolls, the troll-ish, the smart, the foolish (*waves at Foolish*), the argumentive, the contrarians, the martyrs, the joker/degraders, the self-righteous, and the whingers. Just like every other forum I've ever attended on the web, UseNet, and the old BBSs of the 110 baud days. Which make up the hegemony here? How did they come to weild this influence? What is the cornerstone of thier power? _____________________

Yeah, it's a problem dogspot. And you'll find the tired old usual suspects jumping up and down saying it's not.
Mostly because they want to be among the 'forum elite'. They think if they defend the elite, people will assume they are defending themselves, and they will become the elite. It's all so pathetic and sad. _____________________
Taken from The last paragraph on pg. 16 of Cory Ondrejka's paper "Changing Realities: User Creation, Communication, and Innovation in Digital Worlds :
"User-created content takes the idea of leveraging player opinions a step further by allowing them to effectively prototype new ideas and features. Developers can then measure which new concepts most improve the products and incorporate them into the game in future patches." |

History appears to disagree with you - especially on this small scale. You, nor I, nor anyone else controls the use the little red triangle. (Egad! That sounded awfully mystic, didn't it?) Thus far, the ones I see getting warned are the ones breaking the rules - old and new to SL alike. I agree. However, it seems quite clear to me that there are some here who delight it provoking people to overreact. And then the person who was provoked gets ARed. In this very thread I've been indirectly called brain damaged: So, are you 15 years old or recovering from an incident with a nail gun? Been the target of a scathing attack carefully worded to not sound like it is: And I'd report it, but I really have to admit. I sound like a brain-liquified moron when I declare everything I don't like to be a personal attack and then publicly threaten to report it. I mean, I sound like a real tool. I project the image of quite the impotent loser when I speak that way. I think I'll stop and maintain whatever credibility I have left by not playing kindergarten taddle-tale quite so publicly. And been called a fool: You'll need it where you're heading. I never doubt the resolve of fools. And these are examples of what I consider bad behavior in JUST THIS THREAD. I've seen examples of this in other threads and not involving me. I think it's wrong. And I think that people who make those type of comments be called to answer for them. The only way to do that is to pay careful attention to shenanigans and press the red button and report it. I'm sure the people who made those comments above will likely do some hand waving and tell me I need to grow a thicker skin. |

For Pete's sake, report what you don't like, let LL decide if people need disciplining, and get on with your Second Life. Your not going to change people. I dunno what it is with folks who refuse to use the ignore feature if they are so offended by someone. Not doing so just lends to idiotic discussions like this one. The only "hand waving" I see is coming from you. "these people are mean and cruel", "I am gonna tell on you!" It's highly annoying, much more so than the behavior you are complaining about. _____________________
