From: Kiamat Dusk May I remind you... Just how much more perfect do you need? You Liberals use the smoke and mirrors of the grey area to hide the fact that you lack a spine and the will to act. You're so wrapped up in proving how tolerant you are that you ignore the fact that there are indeed some acts that are by definition intolerable. OK, so because I'm not willing to go along with the majority and kill people I'm spineless? I suppose if by "act" you mean "murder", then yes, I do. I'm really more wrapped in not being a murderer than I am in being tolerant, though. From: Kiamat Dusk Because I believe in the death penalty. I believe there are crimes for which you forsake your right to live. I believe there are people too dangerous to allow to continue to live. How long is this list of crimes, pray tell?

The death penalty is horribly inefficient. It costs so much money to get someone actually killed that it is cheaper to keep them in prison for life. (watching Dr.Phil or whatever)
When will you people learn. Get them convicted for life and then have someone knife them in the shower for a carton of cigarettes.
Easier, cheaper and it cuts through the red tape.
By the way, I am a liberal that is totally fine with the death penalty in theory. I just don't support the way it is implemented. It is to expensive. It should not be used in cases of circumstantial evidence or a single eye witness.
However, if they have video of you fucking a baby, I'm okay with it.

From: Kiamat Dusk Soooo....the guy on video having sex with an infant doesn't qualify? While they are "in jail for long periods of time" (can't even muster the will to say "life", eh?) my tax dollars are paying his cable bills. But, I'd like to thank the SLefties for coming out en masse to prove why Liberals cannot be trusted with positions of power. Every single post shows how utterly out of touch you are with reality. Must be all the drugs you want legalized so badly. -Kiamat Dusk No, that person should not get the death penalty. If the longest sentence for that is 20 yrs, he should get it, if it's life, he should get it. I don't think inmates should have tv's or cable, not unless they pay for it themselves. BTW, I've never done drugs, or have I ever wanted them legalized. Shows you what you know, making generalizations about groups of people is dangerous.

Come on you sissies!
Don't you realize that killing crimals erases their crimes and makes it all better? My cousin was murdered, and when they fried the killer, he magically rose from the grave!
Hell, even "god" said he wouldn't be veangeful and take life again after the flood, apparently that's lost on some of his subjects though.
Vengeance before adherence to one of the Commandments. Cool stuff irony.

You know. I'm not so sure I believe in using this subject for politicing. How about I leave you with a thought: If given the option, I would do anything to save that kid. Unable to help the child, I would do anything I could to make sure it was unattractive to do it again. If that means killing him. So be it. You see, we are not talking about abortion. We are talking about a predator who raped a child, and then likly killed said child. RAPED A CHILD. And you all want to use it to discuss an agenda. I have nothing further to say.

Did this guy kill the baby? Did he kill anybody? Apparently you didn't notice that I have no problem with the death penalty when the case warrants it. Though this is a very sick and disgusting person, who deserves the punishment he is given, the death penalty is not warranted in this case, imo. I don't even think the death penalty is an option for child molestation. Also remember, in this country you are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Liberals shouldn't be in charge of anything more significant than an elementary school art class. Yeah, we might bring some intelligent discussion into society instead of endless fear-mongering, that'd be terrible. So let me get this straight: It's OK to kill adult Americans, as long as they've committed a crime. It's also OK to invade a nation and kill thousands of soldiers and civilians, but aborting a fetus should be a federal crime?

More Examples of How Liberals Deal With Child Molestors
03-15-2006 16:37
...excepting Neehai here... Admitted Child Molester Not Sentenced To Jail Judge Sentences Man To House Arrest POSTED: 10:59 am EST December 8, 2005 UPDATED: 11:13 am EST December 8, 2005 COLUMBUS, Ohio -- A surprising ruling was made in a local courtroom Wednesday as an admitted child molester was not sentenced to any time in jail. Andrew Selva The ruling came after the same judge labeled the defendant a sexual predator -- the most severe of all sexual offender categories, NBC 4 reported. "For three years, this has been going on and it's not the easiest thing for our family," a victim said. One of two victims Andrew Selva admitted to sexually assaulting asked the judge for a just sentence. Selva was originally charged with 20 counts of rape, but agreed to a plea deal involving two counts of sexual battery. He apologized to the victims and his wife. During sentencing, he told the judge that he must spend the rest of his life proving that he has changed. "I do not want to make any excuses for what I have done. I've been struggling to overcome this, but it's really hard," he said. After hearing from psychologists about the potential to re-offend without treatment, the judge placed the most dangerous of sexual offender labels on Selva. "Mr. Selva does meet the criteria of a sexual predator," said Judge John Connor. Although Connor said the appropriate sentence was eight years in prison, a clean record since and no convincing proof that Selva was a pedophile brought a very different judgment, NBC 4 reported. "However, I will give community control and sentence you to one year house arrest," Connor said. Selva must report his residency every 90 days, must continue mandatory counseling and treatment, and must live more than 1,000 feet from any school. He was also ordered not to meet with any person under 15 years old unsupervised. The judge admitted that many people may not agree with his decision and offered a stern warning for Selva. "Obviously, nothing's perfect and if he violates any of these conditions, he's looking at eight years at the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction," Connor said. http://www.nbc4i.com/news/5492395/detail.htmlJudge sentences man to 60 days for sexual assault on young girl By Adam Silverman January 5, 2006 A Williston man who admitted repeatedly sexually assaulting a young girl for four years was sentenced Wednesday to spend 60 days in prison -- a punishment that angered the victim's family but was defended by the judge as the only way to provide counseling for the perpetrator. Mark Hulett, 34, pleaded guilty in August to two counts of aggravated sexual assault and one charge of lewd and lascivious conduct with a child, all felonies. He faced up to life in prison on the charges. The problem, agreed the judge and attorneys, was that the state Corrections Department decided it would not offer any sex-offender treatment for Hulett while he is in prison. The department determined that Hulett presents a low risk of committing a similar crime, and therefore he qualifies for counseling only after his release, lawyers said in court Wednesday. Judge Edward Cashman's sentence, which he handed down after a two-hour hearing in Vermont District Court in Burlington, could incarcerate Hulett for the rest of his life if he fails to obtain counseling or otherwise follow instructions once he is freed in 60 days. Judges lack authority under state law to order Corrections to provide treatment for incarcerated inmates, prosecutors said. Hulett began sexually abusing the girl -- a friend's daughter -- when she was 6, and the conduct continued until the girl turned 10 in April, according to court papers and testimony Wednesday from the girl's relatives. The Burlington Free Press does not name the victims of sexual assault and is not naming the girl's relatives to protect her identity. Prosecutors wanted Hulett incarcerated for at least eight years, and in impassioned pleas the girl's family members asked for a stern sentence. Cashman, though, told the crowded courtroom that punishment was not his priority in sentencing Hulett, but rather finding treatment for the man to prevent future abuse. "This is not a situation where I'm doing this for the family," he said. "My heart goes out to this family, and I would hate to be in the situation this family is. But there's other families out there, and there's other people who could be victimized, and I'm trying to take the long view." Later, Cashman added that a lengthy prison term "will accomplish nothing but to harden this fellow." The hearing was unusual at times as Cashman questioned witnesses, sparred verbally with Corrections officials, and at one point engaged in conversation with the victim's relatives as they sat in the gallery. The girl's aunt asked Cashman to impose a sentence of at least four years -- one for each year Hulett abused her niece. "Mark should be taken off the street so it is not possible for her to cross his path," the woman said through sobs. "She will see Mark enough in her mind." The Corrections Department's refusal to treat Hulett drew ire from prosecutors and the judge. Defense psychologist William Cunningham said Hulett showed little empathy for the harm he caused the girl and her family; regretted only "the loss of a friend;" and would require stringent supervision and dire consequences to comply with court orders, such as receiving counseling. Prosecutor Nicole Andreson said punishment is a valid component of a sentence. "This is not only about Mr. Hulett," Andreson said in arguing for an eight-year minimum. "To sentence him to any less demeans the level of trauma he has caused. To sentence him to any less will send a disturbing message of tolerance to the community." Cashman disagreed, saying retribution "accomplishes nothing of value." "We feed on anger," the judge said. "That's not my job. I've got to do something that solves problems. The one message I want to get through is, anger doesn't solve anything." Hulett spoke briefly at the end of the hearing, crying as he apologized for his actions. "I want to get treatment. I need it," he said before officers led him from the courtroom to begin his prison term. After the hearing, Andreson said the main question the hearing raised is why Hulett wasn't eligible for sex-offender treatment as an inmate. http://www.burlingtonfreepress.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060105/NEWS01/601050313/1009&themeRemember, both of these men confessed to the crimes. Yup-clearly Liberals are right on top of this. -Kiamat Dusk

4 people were charged with child molestation. The case hasn't even gone to court yet. Yes, it is VERY BAD, though the going sentence on a first time child molestation charge is between 5 and 20 yrs.

The Right Way To Deal With People Like These
03-15-2006 16:39
Carlie Brucia's Killer Sentenced to Death for 11-Year-Old's Murder Wednesday, March 15, 2006 SARASOTA, Fla. — The 39-year-old man convicted of abducting, raping and killing 11-year-old Carlie Brucia was sentenced Wednesday to death by lethal injection. "The scales of life and death tip unquestionably toward death," said Circuit Judge Andrew Owens. Before announcing Joseph Smith's death punishment on the charge of first-degree murder, the judge said Smith faces life in prison without the possibility of parole for the assault and kidnapping of his victim. Owens then agreed with the jury's earlier 10-to-2 recommendation that be executed. Smith showed no emotion as Owens read either sentence. "Carlie endured unspeakable trauma, which began at the time of her kidnapping," the judge said before announcing the sentence. "The image of the defendant taking her arm and leading her away no doubt will forever be etched in our minds." Click here for the original charges against Joseph Smith. During the sexual and physical abuse Carlie was subjected to, the judge said, "at 11 years of age, there is no doubt she was aware of her dire predicament and that she had little or no hope of survival." He added: "Her death was conscious less and pitiless ... calculated and premeditated." The judge was required by law to give great weight to that recommendation when he makes his ruling but was not bound to that recommendation. Smith has 30 days to appeal the sentence and punishment meted out by the court. Carlie's stepfather, Steven Kansler, buried his face in his hands as Owens read details of the crimes before sentencing Smith. "I thought I'd feel a lot different," Kansler said afterward. "But it still hurts. It doesn't change anything. I just feel that Carlie has been heard. Her soul is gone now. Now it's just a matter of time to wait to watch Joe Smith die." During a hearing last month, Smith tearfully apologized for his crimes, telling the judge that he took large amounts of heroin and cocaine in an attempt to kill himself on the day he abducted Brucia in 2004. Smith said he did not remember much about that day and asked the judge to spare him for the sake of his family. The abduction of Brucia was caught by a security camera. Her body was found four days after her disappearance on the grounds of a church in Sarasota. Brucia's mother, Susan Schorpen, was not in the courtroom for the sentencing, as she is currently in a Florida jail on drug and prostitution charges. Schorpen has said the pain of losing her daughter led her to take drugs to numb the pain commit herself three times. The Associated Press contributed to this report. http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,187948,00.html-Kiamat Dusk
