To me it seems that xs4all only did some testing with ping and traceroute-like tools.
We all know icmp is working and that the problem will appear a few seconds AFTER a succesfull connection.

Has xs4all actively monitored the IP/UDP traffic with anyone ?

So how good was this investigation they did then ?

I'm loosing trust and energy here.. And even if in the end it is not xs4all, they could at least put some more effort into it.
They will loose customers this way, because there is a really easy solution to all of this...

I hope to find everything working when I get home today.. These messages of signs of the problem being gone almost sound to good to be true.

Just got an email from a Dutch resident with an XS4ALL account (timestamped 15:13 PM GMT) that she just logged in and doesn't freeze anymore. Can't log in myself to check, 'coz I'm at work now, but I will be keeping my fingers crossed.

Mr Ralph apparently did some work on it. He says that XS4all thinks the problem is related to:

http://blog.secondlife.com/2007/04/18/inworld-problems-being-worked-on/

To me it is more likely than that XS4all is doing something wrong. However, I have no idea why especially XS4all people are influenced by the "inworld-problems", and still think this explanation is unlikely too...

This link points to a post about database-problems. Our problems are with the connection. So it is not related.

I did read some messages that gave me hope in this thread today. I can't wait to get home, remove the "For Sale"-signs off my new land and lay in the grass :) But in the past days I have had some more "windows of opportunity", when things did work for a while, just for a while... So I don't feel home-safe yet...

Now do we? I have no the slighest idea what "icmp" is? So... how can I ever know that is working?

I find a bit rough to make them directly responcible for the problems we are facing. And do we really have any insight what they have done and what not?

They won't loose me over something like this. They are the best ISP I ever had.

They have sent their techs out to look into the problem and (not really unimportant) kept their patience as a lot of unhappy residents mailed and called them. Not much more they could do, since the problem was at Sprintlink - and it appears the latter has replaced some hardware.

Just got a phonecall from home: apparently no more freezing and crashing in SL. A happy thought!

I'm in too!

My bandwidth still goes from 700 or so to 20 at the beginning, but even then I can move around freely, nothing seems to be wrong and then it goes back up to its usual bandwidth! It seems fixed people :D For now anyways *hopes for good*

No changes

Well, people, I hate to rain on your parade, but for me nothing has changed - still the same freezes and eventually dropping of connection. No change whatsoever!

EDIT - In Salmo, (72.5.13.20)

Same here, disconnected or walk walk walk
04-23-2007 07:22
I read all your messages and I have the same problem. After tp I always get stuck (since 7 days now), cant receive chat and am disconnected. Sometimes I walk and walk and walk high in the sky and on and on or down through sea and buildings and can't stop.

My provider is Demon, it was always good till XS4ALL took it over, but Demon says that I am still using the same server as before and that I didnt go over to XS4ALL yet. But why then this problems since 7 days. I recognise all your problems.

Living in the Netherlands, theres a connection with XS4ALL. Called Demon they say that they dont have complains!!!!! But they have never heard of Second Life :(

People, call your provider and complain and complain. I am bored now in SL, nothing to do because I am stuck all the time.

The only connection with XS4ALL is that they connect through Sprintnet to SL.... and Sprintnet is having problems.

Nope, worked for a while, not anymore

Hi,

Together with 5 other residents in SL, we have the same problems as well. XS4All's helpdesk is prepared to work at the problem but, according to Timo of the helpdesk of XS4All he needs a traceroute from the affected SL-location to a IP-address of XS4All.

So, I hereby ask for a LindenLabs employee to do a traceroute from for example 66.150.245.142, to my private IP-address, which is vdheide.xs4all.nl

That would help the XS4All-helpdesk a lot in solving this problem.

Please, please, can a Linden help us out here?

Thanks,
Marcoh

Text from Timo (Helpdesk XS4All):
-------
CODE

66.150.245.142 in zit, richting jou eigen XS4ALL ip adres.

XS4All-Only subscription?
04-23-2007 07:52
Hi,

Does any of you have an XS4All-connection through KPN? So a "ADSL van KPN"-connection?

I can imagine it is a problem of the following subscriptions:
- XS4All Only
- Demon
- ???

Marcoh

I wanted to hold off posting this, because I didn't know how long it'll be stable for but I've just gone to my house, AND our land on a diff sim to my house and I CAN move at last on both. Everything works.

Ping sim is at 172 and ping user is at 193 and on my land ping sim is at 243 and ping user 241, compared to the constant 10000 that I got for the last 7 days at both!

Who fixed the problem, and just where was the fault. I SO would like to know so at least next time we know who to direct it to.

I hope others are experiencing the same!

:=)

EDIT - YES YES, still working!!

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooo, it's GONE AGAIN!!

It was fine for like 2 or 3 hours then BANG gone.. I am totally pissed right now

Ok, so it doesn't seem to be related to the sort of subscription then ...

I've forwarded this info to the helpdesk of xs4all.

Hmm odd. it's broken again for me as well. Could it be related to the load? If a lot of people try to connect it'll break down perhaps?

If it was related to the Load , why would it just effect xs4all subscribers ,would it not be hitting other providers ? i do know its becoming unbearable i have been waiting a week now to finish a building , LL please at least respond with something !!
