OK everybody, I am getting sick and tired of this, so let's all work together.

I have created an issue on Second Life's JIRA project (the issue tracker) and recieved id SVC-124 for this issue.

Please look at the issue (log in through jira.secondlife.com) and let me know if I made any mistakes in the description.

Also: START VOTING ON THIS ISSUE, this is really important to get their attention !

Please don't start a flame or whatever in the comments section of the issue-tracker to make sure the Lindens take us seriously and solve this once and for all, but please do leave additional information for them is you feel it's usefull !

NOW GO AND VOTE FOR THE ISSUE !

It's a side-effect from using XS4ALL

Yes, in a way it is.
XS4All is one of the eldest ISPs in the Netherlands and I think a lot of the members are pioneers who were on the Internet long before most people had ever heard of it :)

The Lag is so bad today!!
04-20-2007 13:34
I was wondering whether or not it is my sim, I was ready to just move! I still am considering that. I live in Larkspur 51,57,46

Time dialation 1
SIM FPS 42-45
Physics FPS 39-45
Agent Update 11

forget the numbers are jumping all over the place!

All I know is that I have playin for 1 month now, have moved forward by purchasing 1024 sq ft. I have 82 prims left and right now I stuck on my roof unable to walk or fly.

My question is, would it be better to move? Or is this just about everywhere? I live on a class 5 Sim. I dont know

Thanks

The thing is, it's not a Linden issue, it's that one tracker in the whole route is messed up. And this tracer is used by Xs4all, and thus by us.

Yes, you have a point. But the thing is: The Lindens need to contact who ever is responsible, that's why I made the issue to grab their attention (because sending all those support requests sure doesn't work, or has somebody recieved an answer ?)

There was a Dutch Linden in this thread, Data Linden. He lives in Holland but uses a different provider that doesn't have problems.

Maybe he can use his contacts at LL to get this issue to the attention of the right people?

From the traceroutes it looks like LL has a Sprintlink connection too, so maybe they can inquire at their technical contact at Sprintlink?

Data Linden told us to contact XS4ALL's Helpdesk. It seems we're being pushed from pillar to post, when all we want is an answer or at least SOMEONE to act on it and let us know what the hell is going on.

"Still no answers to my emails to either LL or XS4ALL"

This can't go on for much longer, surely?

Voted - and for those that go and vote, you can find the issue by clicking on ALL ISSUES on the right hand side of the page. We all need to vote on this, as Iva says, to get something done and fast.

@Iva Geesink: voted, very good action!

@Samantha Gustafson: online since 1992, with effective 300 bps (bits per second!) dial-up, and 0,50 US$/second cost...

04-21-2007 01:21
Hi, Since this week I freeze after login and cannot do anything at all. The minimap turns red.
I'm from Holland and used to have Demon as ISP --> Now taken over by XS4ALL. Well my SL acces is gone.

Yes a very good action, i did not even know this was even available...

Told several around me to do the same. My place is not available to me and neither is prison moon.
I'm not used to this kind of trouble this long. I am very pleased with XS4ALL and hope this will be solved soon.
But till yesterday all I hear at XS4ALL's Helpdesk that they donot support secondlife.

Personally i think this attitude is a bit short sighted....

Greetings
Freeman

BTW... How can I find out what SIM is in what IP range? Or do you use trial and error?
For Goreans: Essex is good for xs4all users and probably some more too!

Iva, good action! Let's all Vote on that Jira. --> https://jira.secondlife.com/ --> Key SVC-124

The Lindens should contact XS4ALL and solve this together with them. The Lindens should make sure everybody has good acces to SL. That is their responsibility.

Xs4all or Xs4all Only?

Is this problem Xs4all or Xs4all Only?
We use Demon > Xs4all Only, the problems starts 5 days ago!
Xs4all Only use KPN Bitsream, and KPN Bistream is a pain in the ass.

I'm on Xs4all Only. But I don't think that's the problem, since the packet loss starts at Sprintlink. not Xs4all's network.

I am XS4ALL as well and yes, I have the problem too... I have a normal XS4ALL account (not XS4ALL only). But it is really SL alone that gives there problems. SWG for instance runs like hell... downloads go as fast as normal...

It is driving me crazy :(

Apparently the connection XS4ALL--->Sprintlink is borked....but why only with SL and not with other applications??

What does SL have that others don't?

I think more is affected. I've had some random games on Xbox Live being unable to connect but only to certain people, everything else works. It just happens to anything that goes through those Sprintlink servers.

Has anyone tried to contact Sprintlink? Again, I've got Versatel and no probs but this intrigues me. Plus I wanna see Dutchies online and not poofing off all over the place! ;)

I've found something in the XS4all website that this has happened before

http://www.xs4all.nl/nieuws/bericht.php?id=2284&taal=nl&msect=Storingen

So it is possible for them to fix something like this, but they need to actually work on it :S

XS4ALL helpdesk is unaware of this problem
04-21-2007 04:18
Hi, I just called the XS4ALL helpdesk, and they seem to know nothing about this problem. It's not in their system. The guy I talked to could not find anything about it.

People, please call XS4ALL and make some noise!

And after more research, we MIGHT see a solution tomorrow/the day after

http://www.sprintlink.net/maintview/

As you can see here. over the next few days a lot of maintenance will be done. Of note are the several EMERGENCY hardware entries. If you go back to the 16th. You'll see tons of maintenance both regular and emergency

Great research Zho, contacted sprint right away.

Keep on voting on jira.secondlife.com on SVC-124 for who hasn't done it yet... We almost have a top 5 most popular issue ;-)

I have the problem and I have xs4all ADSL Basic. So I am not connected via Bitstream.
