I phoned the xs4all-helpdesk today. They connected me with the 1e-line problemsolver. I explained the problem. This was totally new for the xs4all-man (???)
I didn't got the feeling he was eager to solve this problem right away. He claimed that this could be a Lindenlab problem also, because the routing is from SL to xs4all also. He advised me to inform Linden also. I told him that it was not my job to negotiate between xs4all en SL.
But I promised him an e-mail with all the details. I put an explanation and some trace routes in the e-mail together with a lot of the postings from this forum. So, now he MUST understand that a lot of his customers are involved. And is it really time to take some action.
I think the problem is with the sprintnet network. There is no option at their website to contact them (only when you are a client). xs4all should contact sprintnet and inform about this issue.
So, did you called or wrote the helpdesk before? Phone again and ask for a status-update of your complain. Ask them what they did to solve this problem. Ask them if they contacted sprintnet (www3.sprint.com). Let's make a lot of noise as much as possible. Someone has to wake up.

It seems to me that the crappy network of Sprintlink already starts to fail in Amsterdam. From: Maurice Wendt |------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | WinMTR statistics | | Host - % | Sent | Recv | Best | Avrg | Wrst | Last | |... | 0.so-6-0-0.xr1.tc2.xs4all.net - 0 | 59 | 59 | 0 | 9 | 63 | 0 | | 217.149.46.21 - 11 | 59 | 53 | 0 | 12 | 78 | 15 | | sl-bb21-ams-8-0.sprintlink.net - 12 | 59 | 52 | 0 | 20 | 156 | 32 | | sl-bb23-lon-4-0.sprintlink.net - 11 | 59 | 53 | 15 | 26 | 172 | 16 | |...
Im not so sure if the problem is there with Linden cos XS configures there routers through Sprintlink to SL. So I sugiest that we also make that email to there helpdesk: http://www.xs4all.nl/overxs4all/con...tact_wizard.phpMaybe its time for XS4ALL to use an other transantlantic connection to my favorite sim... b.t.w. how funny that the network stats of Sprintlink stops from 17 april (thats when the problems started) http://www.sprint.com/business/support/popup/popupNetworkMetrics.html?origref=http%3A%2F%2Foxide.sprintlink.net%2F

bad sim
04-21-2007 09:39
An other bad sim: Lipstix Island located at sim1138.agni.lindenlab.com (72.5.13.34:12035) And yet an other invitation to the drain Xs4all says the can't bypass sprint. Got this message from them in dutch. I added translation beneath it. LL does their hosting at Internap, at (at least) 2 locations. To one location (AS13767) there are no problems, to the other (AS14743) apparently there are. Xs4all is offered 2 routes to AS14743, both via Sprint. In the direction of AS13767 traffic is routed via Cogent. To AS14743 Internap does not have connectivity with Cogent, so this can't be used as an alternative. ================ Furthermore Xs4all does not see any problems in the route, no packet loss, constant rtt. They say it is hard to judge if there is a problem at sprint, but they cant see anything wrong in the routing (ping trace route). This all doesn't make to much sense to me, but apparently Xs4all isn't repairing anything because they cant find anything that is broken. Greetz, Jos

Greetz, Jos I get the feeling it's not anything a ping will show, rather that a stable connection can't be maintained. After all, we CAN log in and maybe move around for about 10 seconds before everything breaks.

Everybody, by advice from one of the "senior" jira users, I updated our issue SVC-124 with more relevant information.
I was told that when an issue suddenly gets a lot of votes (like ours !!!), Torey Linden himself will take a look.. We are almost in the top 5.
So vote if you haven't done so yet...
jira.secondlife.com SVC-124
Maybe this cry for help on jira will fail too, but at least we can try...
No respons from noc@sprint.net yet by the way...

In the Netherlands, also xs4all.
If I didn't find this thread right now as I did, I think I might've lost my mind totally and completely. I've been trying to address this issue for the past days thinking it was my firewall acting up, gamewise something messing up. This thread saved my sanity! (well, sort of anyway, still the issue is still not fixed) Now let's just hope it won't take another 5 days for this to get fixed.
This is a great action by the way Iva, I've voted as well!

Using Demon , wich as everybody knows goes trough XS4all . Experiencing the exact same problems , submitted a detailed trouble report to support just a few hours ago cause I came to the same conclusion as the people here . I just found this thread whilst desperatly trying to search for others that might`ve encountered the dreaded " agentupdate on unkown circuit " error . Voted on JIRA , hoping this will get fixed soon cause it is pretty much out of "our" hands as consumers to have this fixed.
With that said , hope to see you all in SL soon .

Hai,
Reading these posts reminds me of some issues I had 10 years ago. Back then suddenly I could not send e-mail to certain contacts. As it appears there were problems in the interconnection protocols between the networks the data packets travelled over. Indeed the networks at both ends pointed to each other. I used the NIC WHOIS database to find the technical guy of the intermediate network, he was from Finland I remember. Phoned him, nice person, he solved it in 10 minutes... A year or two later there was a colleague in Berlin who had the same problem, and I followed the same recipe with success.
Let's find the tech guy from SprintLink: Technical Contact, Zone Contact: Domain Administrator (NIC-1533363) Sprint Communications Company L.P. MAILSTOP: KSOPHT0101-Z3380 6391 Sprint Parkway Overland Park KS 66251-3380 US +1.8665052385 Fax- +1.8773880408
There is another thing we could do, and that is to contact the media. Let's start with IDG's WebWereld. Since IDG is a US company, a problem between XS4all and SL may be picked up worldwide. Tell people to vote if they also have the problem and want it solved. Get his issue off the charts. I will contact WebWereld Monday morning if the problems persist, to give time to Sprint's "maintenance" work... Dunno if we should call the tech guy at Sprint yet. It is probably not as simple and easy as 10 years ago. We may look silly, and/or wind up with another underpaid callcenter idiot. Big note: always formulate your questions so complicated that you get the backoffice people on the line.

responce from XS4ALL
04-22-2007 08:09
Just gat some responce from XS. I dont gonna translate cos most of here are Dutch anyway. From: someone Beste x,
Mvg,
Ralph XS4ALL helpdesk
Seems to me that XS is the onely one looking at it atm? Any reaction from Linden or Sprintlink?

@Zha Hehe, lets hope that 'The old school hackers' look into it and locate the problem. XS4ALL is really the best ISP to get here in the Netherlands, its not a crappy/cheap ISP like you see everywere.
To bad that mr. Ralph (XS4ALL) used the helpdesk@ as return address so cant contact him personal, or some other network wizzard. ALso didnt get a ticket #.
GGGRRR.. im really getting frustrated here...
Linden: dump that crappy transit provider (Sprintlink.net) of yours. Its a bad one!!!

As Iva mentioned a few posts ago; From: someone Just thought I'd let you know we got a reponse from sprintlink... I sent them more information and they are investigating... So both Sprintlink and xs4all are working on the issue. Let's hope they come to a solution, soon. Paying for a game and not being able to play it at all gets rather frustrating after a few days.
