@Palmerston: the problem is not traceroute or ping, both work fine with the problem servers.

The problem is with losing the connection after a few minutes with servers located in California (connected at Xs4all through Sprintlink).

I just tried it and it's still the same...

For what it's worth: also on XS4all, having problems since a couple of days. Same things other people wrote. I do manage to make small adjustments to my online property, but only a minute or so, and scripts do not load at all to edit...

I notice that my packet loss is average 10%. Way too high. Causing enormous lag.

I'm on Bbang, sim1092.agni.lindenlab.com, and tracert goes over SprintLink in ping time of 168 ms.

I know that, Maurice, and have the same problems - only it seemed to work fine for an hour or so till I logged off - that is why I posted the traceroute.

I just tried again - it still works as designed.

and now - 1 hour later - back to previous state; unable to do anything at all

I've been having problems all day with this and it's driving me insane. I live in the USA. I can't move, I have huge delays with chat going through, and over half the time it doesn't. I have to click on stuff multiple times to get it to do anything. The meters don't even register there being a problem. I can't do squat because of this, and I doubt it's something outside of SL to be honest, too many people are having the same problem from all over the world.

Just called with the XS4ALL helpdesk, I do think the problem lies with them as theyre the only provider that seems to be affected in the Netherlands..He gave me the following email adress abuse@xs4all.nl and told me to post here and ask everyone suffering from this to mail there so it gets prioritized..The newspaper today said 44k members of SL were dutch atm so that must mean a pretty large amount of people have to be affected by this.

So if you suffer from these problems, please send a mail to abuse@xs4all.nl and hopefully we can get them to take some action quickly and get this mess sorted.

Just had a reply from the abuse address, and here's the reply:

"This has nothing to do with the abuse department of XS4ALL, we can provide no assistance in this matter as it is not a matter of Internet abuse from/by our customers."

What next ??

No, helpdesk@xs4all.nl ofcourse...or just use their website or phone-number. This is no abuse matter ;-)

problem started tuesday here
04-20-2007 03:21
Same problem here, logon is normal. then when in sl i either cant move or when i move i cant stop moving and walk on forever.

Yes xs4all here too. been on the problem with them over an hour now. nobody seem to know where the problem is.

My speed was checked. 1.9Mb/sec
firewall disabled AV shut down

recabled, moved modem to the entrypoint in the house.
Uninstalled SL (how can you really uninstall??)
cache deleted completely and moved to another location

Modem (speedtouch 716I) reset to default values and reinstalled. all for nothing!

win MTR gives me lots of shit, when the helpdesk man runs the same program there is NO problem from the office. when he does the same thing from his home location, also xs4all, it gives the same shit as here with me. packet loss up to 98%

There is a blockade at some point or a server is dieing
I'm guessing the problem is in Amsterdam, in a server between us, users and the rest of the world

Day for now (sighs) when will this end?

XS4ALL do something about this!

Obviously XS4ALL uses a setting that causes this. I checked my settings on my modem and Versatel seems to be ok...no problems with spiking packet loss or the other probs described in this thread.
Good luck to those affected!

Howdy!

I spend an hour on the phone via mobile today and send 3 emails to heldesk@xs4all.nl

At this moment im in and staying in. i can even walk and jump and fly
Could it be solved? (crossing fingers!)

more later, first i need to work for the loss of the last 4 days!

And yes xs4all. an explanation would be nice. perhaps even an apology?

Well it sure as hell ain't solved for me. And again, it's a region with a 72.* IP address, being 72.5.12.248. And like a previous poster said, that is indeed sprintlink.net. Oh well, time to pick up the phone and call the demon helpdesk.

On that note, I advise everyone who has this problem to call the xs4all or demon helpdesk as well. The more people phone in about this problem, the more likely it'll be properly looked into.

According to xs4all the problem is caused by a colocator from Linden Labs at San Jose.

According to xs4all Linden Labs knows about this (now) and is working on a solution...

Keep your fingers crossed everybody !

I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I think it would be nice too, if someone from LL added a comment here to let us know they ARE actually working on a solution, or at least 'someone' is. This is a nightmare and we're losing money left, right and center cause we can't get to our land for more than a few seconds at a time.

Here's hoping..

The packet loss at sprintlink is huge.. seems to start at the sl-bb20-tuk-15-0.sprintlink.net host with 75%.

From my experience as hosting provider I would determine logically that it can not be a problem at XS4all, and it is quite interesting that problems, or at least reports about problems, center around this provider. And I hate that it influences my own moves and business on SL, since I am also at XS4all...

I sent a message to the helpdesk yesterday and did not get an anwer yet. Will post it here if it is anything interesting.

I tried the traceroute by different providers in holland, and xs4all seems to be the only one using sprintlink... Maybe that is the problem ?

No reply from xs4all or Linden of course...
