y'know... i just gotta ask...

how come the xcite genitals don't ever end up copied on the TG? Or any of the hundreds of other adult-oriented things?

I mean when I was a teen -- ok that was back in the dark ages when dinosaurs roamed the earth but we did have adult-oriented stuff made out of thatch and bone and wood carvings -- and it was all the rage amongst the teen set becuase of course you couldn't have any until you were of legal age. And if I'm a young boy of, say, 15 or so, and I'm lookin for something to copy -- I'd think I might go straight for the gentials! What fun!

Because it was apparently a parent on the main grid who bought products and sent them to his/her own teen on the teen grid via an exploit. That teen then went on to sell them. No parent is likely to send their own child any of the adult-oriented things.

While I agree with you, I would just like to note that Sensual Casanova, who raised the issue of sex on the teen grid by showing images from Snapzilla of teens on the teen grid running around topless even though they are supposed to have permanent tshirts on and asking about why this is allowed was rewarded with a three day suspension and the thread closing. Also an important topic as well, and there was a discussion going on with it when Zapoteth swooped in yet and and sent it off for Linden review, never to be seen again, out of concerns about pixel boobs (instead of just asking her to remove them). There is zero consistency in TOS enforcement. It is a completely arbitrary joke.

She got a three-day suspension for that?

I can't believe this.

This has been a great thread, now we have a communication open with LL on new ways to share Linden approved content between grids as well as protect our content rights.

Thanks Siggy

And more importantly, a change in TOS to where abuse of Lindens is ok! Yay!

So this has become another all-about-coco thread?

Oh well, I have noticed something at Snapzilla. Looks like a Linden is showing off Fallingawater boots in TG. While I think it's good to show the teens what the finest prim crafters can do as examples, I'm afraid it might make them want to sneak into MG. :(

I learn a lot from looking at superior builds, and teens should be able to as well. I agree there should be legitimate ways to transport content between grids, not to exploit teens nor let them exploit us but to give them good precedents.

Honestly, with the now lack of proper verification, the split between Teen and Main Grid is pretty much nonexistant. Teens can get into the Main Grid easily now. The reverse is also true.

And, if what I've heard is true, that's exactly what is happening.

Having two ideological grids is now moot and fairly pointless, other than an argument to keep the feds from suing the Lindens. Which seemingly was the intent in the first place.

Haven't read every message in this thread but wondered if I was correct in assuming the permissions had been edited to allow full access by everyone who bought one of the offending items?

Also wondered if since the two grids are actually really one, what stops people from crossing over in the first place? (Read NOOB me here ;p)

And is SL boutique accessible from BOTH areas?
In other words could items be bought via an SLBoutique type service and taken into the teen grid that was edited for full access permissions etc. with a bit of preplanning?

Didn't see any reference to this anwhere and wondered if this might be a weak point...

Thanks in advance and have a nice SCOND LIFE ;)

The reason why you cannot see other grids even though they are in the same virtual space is because your not "Flagged" to see it. Meaning, your account only has access to be able to see the Main Grid, nothing else.

The thing with SLX & SLB is how FlipperPA described it... If someone had signed up with SLX or SLB & then was "deported" to the Teen Grid, the reference to their UUID is still the same which allows for the delivery loop hole to occur.

From: FlipperPA Peregrine
(1) In the past, it was possible for someone to create an account on the main grid, then create an SLBoutique or SLExchange account. After doing so, they could then admit to being a teen, and be transferred, while still maintaining their SLB or SLEx account (their avatar key was NOT changed when the transfer occurred). This happened a lot when the teen grid initially opened, and I heard reports of teens reselling at highly inflated prices; almost a black market. Blue notified me a few times of accounts to close down. I had heard LL was going to close the loophole, but am unable to verify as I can not be transferred to the teen grid to test it out.

Enjoy!:p

Do you know what the worst part of the cornfield is?

Not everyone can see it!

When I was suspended - and not for telling Lindens to fuck themselves, but for objecting to that very sort of thing - I was deemed too horrible a criminal to visit the cornfield.

According to Torley, only people who deliberately break rules, such as repeatedly selling goods in the welcome area despite being told not to, are treated to the cornfield. Along with those who discover exploits in vendors and get goods for free. And probably those who crash the grid or grief others mercilessly as well.

I really wanted to see it, too. It was going to be the only bright spot in a very gloomy week for me.

Blue, upon reflection this morning, I realized that the unmitigated (and unmoderated) hell that is the forums is not your usual stomping grounds. I also realize that one Linden doesn't have any idea what the other Lindens are doing, and that that is not your fault.

Im gonna have to let my little nephew investigate that teen grid to see if kenny linden had transfered stuff over to sell after all I did give him copys of my work just for the hell of it , C`mon PPL this is silly tighten your grip on your product and make it NO TRANSFER, Errrr DUH!

As to the teen grid and the adult grid - NOT THAT IT MATTERS ANYMORE - here are my thoughts on that.

I saw the posting by Surreal in Second Life Answers asking about the ability to sell our goods in the teen grid.

At first I thought, yeah, that would be great! More sales for me!

But then I thought about the original notion of a teen grid. If you were a teen there trying to create, along with your peers, your own world, how demoralizing would it be to have your efforts competing with those of adults, and adults with far more experience. And there are many more adults than teens, too.

It would be sort of like the high school talent show, but with professionals from Hollywood flown in, or something.

So I don't think that would be a good idea after all.

HOWEVER. It doesn't really matter so much anymore, does it? Because there is nothing to prevent every teen there from coming to the adult grid.

And by the way, I personally believe that laxness in one direction will create laxness in another. It creates a climate where it is also more likely that unsavory adults will wind up in the teen grid, and that's a bad thing.

Still, I think there are probably plenty of teens still respecting the rules, and many who probably wouldn't want to leave the teen grid anyway. For their sakes - for the sakes of the ones playing by the rules - I think it would be unfair for us to start importing our own things into the teen grid for sale.

I don't know what your bear looks like Blue, (because I don't have one *weeps*) but it would be really cool if it had an ear of corn that it clutched lovingly and a gesture that made it say "mine, all mine" and laugh maniacally.

Just sayin....

*shrug* My suggestion is in response to the reported hunger for MG items on the TG. Put it to the TG residents, let them decide.

Putting together the OP's question and the official Linden response, am I understand correctly that there is no good fucking explanation for the fact that adult's projects have been transfered to, and sold on, the teen continent?

No your right you haven't sold your account.

You bought that one.

Where did I get that from? The person who started that account.

Wrong. My mother, Candie Apple, gave this account to me for my birthday. You're an idiot and a liar. I never told you I was selling my account or anything like that.
