I don't know what it was like before residents retained IP rights for their creations, but I can guarantee that no Linden in their right mind would intentionally force permissions on an object to make it a freebie for teens. That's complete, insane, mind-bendingly paranoid nonsense!

I'm sorry not to have gotten to this thread sooner. What happened, that we would see Siggy's content on teen grid, was an exploit used by a main grid resident to send items purchased on the main grid to their teen. Customer support has handled the breach of TOS, resulting in the erasure of the teen account's inventory and the prevention of further items from being sent from the adult.

The teen had sold numerous items and I followed the transaction record to their new owners. The items retained their intended next owner permissions and as such are not a threat to return someday to the main grid as "freebies". I did not take the items from the teens who believed they had purchased them legitimately.

What should LL do about the illicit transfer of main grid goods to the teen grid? I'm with Surreal. A means of allowing the legitimate sale of objects between grids, by vetted vendors, would almost entirely dissolve any existing "black market" for main grid objects and provide teens with access to a group of consumers more than 10x as large as their current market. We've been considering varying options, including web shopping and inter-grid commerce regions. There are numerous technical issues to consider, and so there's no immediate remedy. Suffice it to say, it's not considered a negligible issue.

As for other concerns raised here, I'd like to mirror the emotional tone of this thread if I could, so please bear with me for a moment as I try to get into the spirit of the forums...

Any similar issues of main grid content on the teen grid that have been identified by Lindens, Teens or Creators have also been quickly and effectively addressed. We are working to the best of our ability to make sure that these uncommon incidents become rarities if not completely unheard of. Your help in identifying objects, in this case by way of snapzilla, is much appreciated. Hmmm 13 pages of a lot of people with the same questions and even more concerns - I think its a valid point - brought to a wide number of people asking the same question, and getting answers.

I think your problem isn't with the information that was given out, but with the catalyst. Yeah, I'm a firebrand - and thats not likely to change in the future, so rather than obsessing over it just get on with your second life.

Coco, sometimes there are more important overall causes to fight for than who's getting more cookies on a certain day from LL.

This was an issue that other residents needed to discuss. Answers would have likely received a boilerplate reply, simply since it's the nature of the forum.

I guess the constant fear some folks have that one resident may be getting more glances from the Lab than another will never be completely put to rest, but I guarantee you that in human society, that phenomena will never subside, either.

Some days you're ahead, some days you're behind.

If LL can address problems like this, the technicalities and venue are a detail.

LL stepped up to the plate on this one; this is a good thing, and I think it's a bit much to come down on them for something as negligible as its context.

Indeed, if some day you do get fucked, you may end up receiving similar treatment. That is, as long as LL isn't barked at and bitten for responding at all. Blue even expressed his trepidations about "Forum culture".

If that happens enough times, maybe they won't bother next time.
