Griefers are alive and all to comfortable in the LL forums. Why are some ppl continuouly allowed to GRIEF ppl whos opinion differs from their own on the fourms? It's not only common practice it's also common knowledge. Where are the ResMods who were suppose to be watching out for this sort of thing? Is that another system that failed?

Hey if that is LL call then thats that. I realy find it hard to believe however that posters can go around insighting anger, personaly attacking and saying "fuck you, shut the fuck up" and LL will look the other way. I find that real hard to believe. If they do however, then this company is far worse off than I had imagined they were in their PR dept. and their CS and TOS don't mean anything. I find that very hard to believe.

Was this post also meant to bait me into an arguement? Yes that is a griefer tactic often used. Give up, I no longer bite those hooks honey.

So we have conflicting information. SG were approached, with other groups, about an in world presence, and they happened to be the first. Believe what you want, I don't care.

I really don't want to get into a 'my text is bigger than your text' discussion because we all know what that compensates for.

No specific names were given during our conversation but motorsport and sci-fi groups were mentioned in general. I have already suggested one group to Wilder since our conversation.

I merely think that SG happened to be the first to respond and that's why they 'start off' the programme of promoting outside groups through an online presence in game. Bad choice? Bad timing? Who knows.

And I took a peek of Suicide Girls website before... it looks very tame for a porn (??not even sure if it is a porn site or some artsy classy erotica) site, didn't subscribe. The pics are...tastefully done, from what I see. But not my thing. Don't see much of a problem seeing them in second life, unless they start promoting pornography and online prostitution (which they haven't done) is what I'll be having a problems with. I'll probably even join The Angry Mob (Tm) holding my own pitchfork and torch.

My personal opinion on the whole thing: Second Life could have looked on to other groups that are more PG friendly and I'm sure it bothers some folks that LL would use an erotica site to further market Second Life (and the possibility of later on branding SL as a sex game).

I think a lot of folks, especially parents will probably freak at this (and the conservatives, they are people too you know ). As much as it doesn't offend my Christian sensibilities (live and let live, live by example, etc) I am a little bothered that SL would approach this kind of marketing. Maybe they're just targeting the goth crowd, thats why...don't know really but if that's the case I wonder myself if SL is going to be open to other groups out there, (like Anime groups, fantasy crowd, sci-fi crowd, matrix crowd, etc) and actively reaching for them in the same manner they did with Suicide Girls.

Marketing side, I don't see why it is an issue that the SG girls got some 'perks' (their own name, a bit of land - not even sure if this is confirmed or not) should be a problem. We do that all the time, a lot of companies as people have kindly pointed it out have done it too. There's nothing wrong in giving out perks to people they think will help promote their business.


Well anyhoo, I think my point is, is that I'd rather see SL being marketed as a place where creative, innovative people are, instead of an erotica kind of thing. But hey it's just me. I'm not LL and I can't tell them what to do. ^^; but overall, I'm pretty okay with it, since they haven't done anything harmful or harassing, I can't really complain (although I do wish that LL would be more open to name changing in the future for all of us)

And no I have no issues with the name 'Suicide' they can name themselves 'Hitler' or 'Saddam' for all I care. The important factor to me is how the individual acts towards others.

Seems to me that the whole 'porn' debate and reasoning as to the whys and wherefores are just wild speculation as NOONE is privy to the facts but the two companies..


But based on what I've seen and read it seems to me like SG approached LL and is offering SL to its members in the same way you would offer webspace or a blog... I've seen absoutley nothing substantial to show this as a RL biz coming into Second Life (and whoop de doo even if it was).

Like a bulk discount like was offered with the island on ebay - and a group name as has been offered to other groups in the past.

Given the content of the SG site, perhaps this wasn't the best of word choices...

(As for the dramarama, I have had a friend commit suicide, I'm not an SG subscriber because I'm a cheap bastich not because I object to porn/erotica, and I have no problem with LL making the arrangement with SG that was made or the custom last name set up for SG members who sign up for SL. Anything read into the above other than what is actually printed is the fault of the reader, not me. )
