From: Beryl Greenacre It's interesting to hear about businesses that manage to make SL work for them in its current incarnation. However, I suspect a lot of the stories remain somewhat hidden and top-secret because too much attention from the SL community can be a bad thing. I wonder if the Wells Fargo move to AW in any way came up at the GSD&M Digital America Conference at which Philip spoke.

From: Beryl Greenacre This is not a bad thing that they are too actively engaged in community work to give extensive attention to a corporate client; it's just a fact inherent within their current business model. That's sort of like saying Dr. Kevorkian was too focused on the quality of sterilization and overall cleanliness of his euthanasia machines. LL has for the last year or so been focused only two major things: maximizing their profit and adding more 'ooh shiny' to their software. Community work and corporate attractiveness has not even come close to being on their priority list. - Newfie

Yeah. It's not necroposting, it's only.... um.... resuccitation posting.
Did anyone bother to cover this in any other blogs? Or provide links to Stagecoach via AW?

From: Lordfly Digeridoo On top of that, apparently Wells Fargo simply screengrabbing all the textures to export into AW, which, I might add, is based on 8 year old technology, very clunky, and is scarcely hardware accelerated. Actually, AW is more hardware-accelerated than SL! Not only can AW do OpenGL but also Direct3D (with T&L) AND software <shudder>. AW's lighting is also hardware based (if in OpenGL or Direct3D T&L modes), unlike SL's software-only OpenGL lights (which is just crazy). Granted, AW's hardware OpenGL lights stop after 8 but that's still more than SL's 0!
