Blondin has said many times that what goes on on private property isn't Adult-able. Therefore, if the scenario you outlined happens, there is no cause for an AR and if one is filed, the Lindens will ignore it. ... that's if Blondin's statements can be considered "official" - none of this has been documented in any official place but here so far.... _____________________

According to the release notes posted here so far, once 1.23 goes into effect, it will not be POSSIBLE for a store located in the Adult rated sims to place an ad that is not rated Adult. So if a clothing store only wants the freedom to sell all types of clothing, from ballroom gowns to Gorean silks, they wll have to move to Adult sims and thereby limit their customer base to ONLY those customers capable fo accessing Adult sims; or they will have to remain in a Mature sim but be unable to advertise the full range of wha they offer, still maiking it impossible for a potential customer seeking Gorean silks to know that they are available at that store. The merchant is screwed either way. The only viable option for most merchants selling mixed goods will be to have a PG/Mature-rated store on the mainland, and a seperate Adult-rated annex on an Adult sim just for the questionable stuff. This is where claims that this is only about extreme content start to look like absolute balderdash and those original faq's that were heavily criticised start to look like they are very much still the goals of this project. Gorean silks are not extreme content and it should be possible to sell them anywhere on the grid. The same goes for buildings. Having to rename items or remove them for sale is not how things were being described a couple of weeks ago and even in the brown bags they mentioned that they didn't want to prevent a sex bed from being sold on mature land and yet it now looks like you could probably sell the sex bed but you wouldn't be able to list it as a sex bed, which means you can't advertise to your target audience. This is just a ridiculous situation. If it looks like extreme adult content most people can spot that at fifty paces. If LL want to remove lewd and crude words from mature land and adverts then fine, but sex and Gorean are not lewd and crude words. Linden Lab seem to also be forgetting that Sex sells, they ignore this at their peril. |

Any places still categorized as "Adult" at that time will then be migrated by Linden Lab to the "Other" category. What is the purpose of moving "adult" places into "other"? The panel for your search result details will also indicate whether the Place's Location is on a region which is (PG), (Mature) or (Adult). + The ability to choose "Adult" as a category of Places to search for will disappear after the 60-day transition period. What's the taxonomical classification for the donkey, then? /me quotes dictionary.com, even though I'm not overly interested in this part of the discussion.. Ass: Any of several hoofed mammals of the genus Equus, resembling and closely related to the horses but having a smaller build and longer ears, and including the domesticated donkey. Sounds like a donkey is an ass but an ass isn't necessarily a donkey.. |

I would like to know if anyone has a comprehensive list of all current Lindens as obviously they are in breach of this rule and I need to add them to the ban list ASAP. Depending on which she means, the domestic can be properly called a donkey, while the wild type is properly an ass. I think that where people are neglecting to think this through is in forgetting that Sex is only *one* of the criteria for making something "adult". Violence is another, and like it or not, Slavery, of *any kind* is and must be considered violence, of a kind. Then there is the Gorean Combat RP to consider. This is how you wind up with Gor being labeled "adult", and probably the "pony play" too. the people making the rules have their notions of what is right and wrong, and it doesn't match up with those of us in the dark side. "that" is why we are the ones who have to move, even though we outnumber the residents at the *other* extreme of the spectrum. the easily traumatized The rules are being made by people with no sympathy for us. It's like a smoker trying to argue about personal freedom- no matter what he says, his non-smoking opponent is thinking "That's just the cigarettes talking- it's the addiction". Same with a junkie arguing personal freedom to do drugs. And somone arguing to keep their "porn". Because that's what all this stuff is considered by Cyn, Jack, marty, mark, and probably Blondin too. It's all porn, and there is no justification, no reason for it to exist except for personal choice. no reason will be acceptable. We're a bunch of perverts, and they have lumped us all in together, regardless of our argument. We're all 14, LL is mom and dad, and they have just found our porn stash. If you look at the whole thing on that level, it all makes a certain twisted kind of sense, doesn't it? ^V^ That was an interesting post. |
