How is this policy culturally tolerant/intolerant?

Take an example in which the norm in Muslim culture is such that exposing any part of the body except the face for women, black or white, brown or red, in public is considered as indecent, unacceptable and can be punishable and jailed.

In an aboriginal culture, natural body is worshiped as sacred while wearing clothes is considered as shame to your body.

Even the European culture and heritage considers nudity as the norm in a normal society where sunbathing topless in beaches and in parks having picnic with your mom and dad, grandma and grandpa, kids and infants altogether, happily enjoying each other's company is marginalized as either Adult or Mature, and would not be allowed in Parental Guidance area according to your arbitrary cultural standard.

How are you not marginalizing one culture for the sanitation of your culture?

Which cultural standard are you based on?

Are you saying that your cultural value (whoever you derived it from) dictates the cultural value of any other social groups?

Are you not imposing your cultural norm of one group onto another group of people who don't share the same cultural beliefs as you do?

Are you not violating your own set of rules on unacceptable intolerant behavior as defined by your own community standard?

My understanding of what I have read about statements from the Lindens is that this is not in any way about nudity - nudity per se is classified as "Mature", and not adult. Therefore any outcries about attitudes to nudity aren't really relevant to this topic, are they?

As for people commenting on the majority of posters here being against the zoning initiative, it's very important to note that this is not a statistically valid sample of the population of SL. The only way that LL could get an idea as to how the majority of people think (should that be something they care about - or even SHOULD care about - which is NOT a given) then they should do an in-world login-type poll. As far as I know that is the only way they can really find out what the majority of SLers think about this, and no amount of posturing on the forums (from either side of the discussion) can change that.

So I was sitting around in SL with some friends and we were talking this over

I thought I'd try and do a couple searches in places, turned on mature content for greatest possible hits for each word.

Sex: 3943
bible: 29
jesus 65
christian: 118
religion: 44
Normal: 52

(without mature content on to comb out unwanted results)

beach: 2005
roleplay: 434
club: 2746

Now with those last 3, mature land -still- snuck into the search and these are not accurate representations of the numbers either because there are place that are unlisted and some are privately owned sims. Also, some of the hits will fall under both catagories.

Anyway I find it funny that Sex is MUCH higher than any single search result for something that may be PG.

...I can only imagine how you must all be feeling after years and years. I can only hope that the fear, resentment, distrust and anger you are all feeling can one day be replaced with a renewed sense of excitement of standing on that fresh plot - imagining the possibilities.

Well, I (and others) have asked many times about what the performance will be like if LL forces all these high-traffic naughty places into a small amount of sims. If it's anywhere near as bad as most people think it must be, there will be no fresh plot of land.

I'm not feeling fear but resentment, distrust and anger are definitely in there. LL didn't have these things from me when I started - it has earned them with many actions over the last couple years. You guys have worked hard for it and I see nothing being done to fix it - if anything, LL has gotten worse over the last year.
From: Blondin Linden
I don't mean any disrespect with this post. .

None taken. My concern is more with the contempt your company shows for its customers and the mind-bogglingly bad moves it keeps making. LL is its own worst enemy.

You do? Doesn't surprise me in the least - people in the "adult" businesses have long been great at making sure that their content is disproportionally represented on search engines. Google used to be a great example of that until they made their code more intelligent and more secret. Also, I have often seen multiple search hits for the same business and it's nearly always been some sort of sex-related business.

This makes Outdoor UMF into Indoor UMF

I built this to help with the whole problem. It's a privacy cube, 16m by 16m that is surrounded by invisibility. Thus you can see out, but people cannot see in. They are set copy so use as many as you need to keep people walking down public roads from seeing what you are doing in your own property, unless they cam int your property (and then you get to AR THEM instead.)

And no, I'm not making money at this. They are 1L only, so anyone can protect their home builds from loonies of all sorts.

I have to wonder though, if wrapping entire clubs up with these (I can make bigger) makes the whole problem go away in the first place? Can't see the BDSM lounge until you step on their land - end of "public viewing" problem!

It will be the bot stuff that Jack blogged about recently.

LL will start whacking bots at the same time they implement the forced moves so that it's not obvious how damaging this adult content forced relocation & verification stuff is to the world.

/me will be bet good money on this. Any takers?

Well, that and it is actually more popular. Porn drives a big chunk of the economy.

sorry I suppose I forgot a [/sarcasm] at the end of my last statement... but the point of the fact is that there is far many more sims for mature or adult content than most people are considering.

For what it's worth, I'm attempting to identify 8 questions a day, discuss them with the team and bring answers back to the forum. I was able to do it Tuesday from questions I gathered on Monday and then again on Wednesday with questions I gathered on Tuesday. I'm almost ready to post another 8.

/me suggests creating a new, _locked_ thread that you (or some other mod) can add pending questions to, maybe also with answers as you get them. You can edit and add to locked posts, we can't.

It's very difficult to keep track of what's been asked and answered. This would at least put it all in one spam-free place.

Fantastic idea! I think one of the biggest issues in all this is finding the signal in amongst the noise....

Heh, there is much in the old testiment that does not get into the regular Sunday sermons. Titus Andronicus is billed as a tragedy, and is not performed anywhere near as often as his later plays. The later tragedies are not so graphic, right up to the Tempest, which is sort of a reformed tragedy... it has dark momments but sort of ends in redemption.

Do you know of any public productions of either the old testiment or Titus that show any of that in graphic detail?

Oscar-nominated movie Titus (1999) starring Anthony Hopkins in the title role, along with Jessica Lange and Alan Cumming, directed by Julie Taymor.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0120866/ for more info and production pics.

Contains vore, rape, mutilation, incest and other content not suitable for kiddiewinks according to the new proposed adult-content policy for Second Life. Also a classic play TAUGHT to said kiddiewinks IN SCHOOL.

And I absolutely have no respect whatsoever for any person who dislikes children. I don't mean people who don't wish to have children or who don't want to take care of children. I mean people who don't like children. There are a few of them commenting. I don't like those people. I don't want to share the planet with them. The contempt may show through.

In case...

I live in a sarcastic or better: ironical environment - visit Vienna and you know then - when we call kids under 4 eyes "small terrorists" or "little pirates" - then it is ever meant with a big humor and a twinker and often said from one mother to another mother. And as you maybe know: every mother is the best mother on earth.

I think we all love children and finding them nice. (Even me, if they keep 1500 meters distance, lol)

But we need them not when we are in an 18+ environment while - for example me - is in hurry to polish my left vampire fang, for the midnight hunt.

I need then peace and concentration to make that thing perfect shiny and to exercise my stoic face expression.

This is a deadly serious business for one man who needs daily 1-2 liter fresh blood - ok, normally I do my make-up things with head down, hanging in a tree, but imagine the stress and the hectic, if there would be a kids gang playing around direct under my chosen vampire cosmetic-studio in the crown of an old english oak-tree?

I have no clue about the hunting technics of native americans, but I think not that they want too much kids around when they are in silent and sneaking mode and concentrated in preparing for a good old fashioned buffalo hunt, or?

I mean: if one kid has a cold and makes this "achoooo" sound, is the buffalo herd alarmed and warned and dinner is: cancelled... and you hear then the whole evening long this complaining: "omg, not again this McDonalds grub, mummy"

So, kids, yes, but not everywhere and not in adults business and I mean now building, preparing, paper - and money business, - dry like 3-days-old-white-bread business and well, also a good Nance Brody concert, for example wich is, ahm, very adult, seen from the lyrics....

There are kids being out of place.

Oh, by the way pointing on the above quote of your idea about with whom you not want to share the planet: you have no choice: 7 000 000 000+ people on planet meanwhile, you will have to live with them, with all of them.

Watching the USA from Europe, it would be no wonder, if the bible belt were now wrapped around our international necks too and pulled tighter day by day until we are out of breath, if we are not awake, careful and smart dissident

After all it always comes down to USA bashing and politics. Very interesting.

Yes, after years and years, all this fear, resentment, distrust and anger has built up. Who is to blame? Maybe trying to investigate why these negative feelings exist amongst SL residents and find out how to solve it is more worthwhile than attempting to force another foolish LL scheme down people's throats. For pete's sake, SL is still reeling from the Open Space sim fiasco, and now you guys are trying to move certain people and activities onto another continent? What is wrong with Linden Lab anyway?

Well, you see, that takes effort on your (ie, LL's, you included) part. You have to be willing to do the right things to avoid engendering such feelings in your customers.

One right thing is showing people who bother to come to your office hours a little respect and at least acknowledge their questions, instead of repeatedly ignoring them. All that engenders is more distrust, resentment, and anger, and is NEVER going to be replaced with a "renewed sense of excitement" or anything positive as long as you persist in such behavior.

Since it appears you are either unwilling or incapable of answering questions, or even addressing people asking them, especially when they come to you in person, I know I will be taking it up the corporate chain until someone has the cajones to answer the questions.

Surprisingly, Blue tried, even though he isn't responsible or in the chain of command. Maybe you can learn a bit from him about how to handle customers?

Stripping is said to be adult by some Lindens, stripping is nudity, so yes nudity is an issue. One man's nudity would appear to be another man's porn.

Opinion polls the world over use smaller samples to get opinion on wider issues and wider populations, there's a healthy business still for opnion pollsters.
