And on another note, the layout of the Ursula Continent (from the map view) looks curiously militaristic. That grid layout reminds me of the kind of street plan that so many fascist dictators were so fond of. Just a thought....

I love how you tip toe around that :) When the buildings were brought up before I was almost positive a reference to "showers" would follow.

Of course showers can't be mentioned. You can have sex in those. Tsk Tsk. What WERE you thinking? </trying to laugh instead of cry sarcasm>

Deeded object with no-transfer will be deleted, and cannot be returned
04-23-2009 14:47
How do you resolve the problem that group-deeded object with no-transfer will be deleted, and cannot be returned, or taken back into inventory.

That means group-owned objects will be lost forever when you move, if they are no-transfer.

Will LL refund the purchase price of all these deeded no-transfer objects during the forced relocation?

Or will LL ever fix that restriction problem, and allow deeded objects with no-transfer be returned to the original owner?

Yes I do agree with you i was just asking :) Yes you should have been involved in this because at the end of the day it will affect your bottom line also. Irrespective of personal views on Land traders we are all in the same boat :)

Thank you for using the word "irrespective" You are a pillar of the English language and I salute you! :) Of course, you *are* a transplanted Brit If I recall correctly? You have no Idea how much I despair of American English sometimes! :)

You know, It just occurred to me that they *did* have a poll in the last year asking about predictability- I said it wasn't predictable, and I wanted it to be *more* predictable, but I was thinking along the lines of "I know I can log in whenever i want", or "I know that all of my inventory will still *be* there when I log in", or "I know my region won't crash for no apparent reason", or "I know that when I buy something , the terms of the sale will stay the same, and it will still be useful for what I bought it for".

I have quite literally *never* seen any *content* that offended me unless I was wandering and ready for it. As in:

"This search description is *too* weird! I *gotta* see this! <teleport> "Oh God! My *eyes*! I feel violated! Well, I *did* ask for it..." :)

The only thing that has *ever* offended me in SL that wasn't in a situation like that was some of the *behavior* of other residents. (bumping, Being force-included in RP, stuff like that)

Trust LL to decide that "predictable" meant "Mr Rogers' Neighborhood".

"You know, almost all of our residents said that wanted a more predictable SL experience"

"Really?"

"Yep"

"Hmmm... Well, they *can't* be talking about the hardware or the software because those are *spot* on! No problems there. We even have *voice*!"

"Yeah- they must be talking about all the porn they run into"

"Yeah! They want it all to be like EuroDisney!"

I mean how dumb can you get?

What a great point as i answered that poll the same as you, i imagine now that this was now they got those facts that we all wanted a more predictable experience.

Sneaky bastards if they did.

Dam we are all to blame for this mess ;) Thanks for bring that point up :)

This is a great theory. And we should work hard to spread it, even if it isn't true. They deserve it. :p

Good point. I'd imagine all the idealists who would bristle under this plan as much as we are have probably been sent packing. They probably have Phil locked up in an office somewhere drugged and stupified and trot him out to make propaganda speeches, while Mitch runs the show. Just like in the Star Trek Nazi episode.*

*Patterns of Force.

For those playing at home who want to look it up and figure out WTF Brenda is talking about.

Either that or Phil is actually dead, and they've replaced him with an animatronic duplicate that trots out stock phrases and gestures very slowly :)

I still dont understand why you arent starting a business quality continent, a pg continent so all the worthy places can collect and build a peaceful and orderly community from scratch all knowing that no sex, drugs, alcohol, poor language, off colour jokes, or fun shall ever shall take place? Most of us have been in the workforce and know about such environments.

The answer to this question has been unsatisfactory. In no way does it actually explain why a pg continent is not being made at the same time.

This would seem much less disruptive than changing the rules for the entire sl community.
Making a continent just for "the extreme" will seem to everyone on the outside that sl loves the extreme so much they celebrate it, while nobody can find a pg continent. What sort of thinking is this?

If there is the demand you imply is there for a no behaving like a grown up or as if you are not at a conservative workplace kind of sl it would grow at rapid pace leaving the current chaos to thrive and slowly become the minority.

You started out saying only behaviour everyone would think is extreme would be banned.
.. Now you are suggesting politely in this thread that if we want adult content in our home we might consider moving....? I
n RL would be as if my city had asked me to move or not have a bedroom in my home when I got married RL.

With SL I signed up an environment with no children at all, where I could act like an adult among adults, as though I was visiting with friends, and spend up to 4% of my time doing legal but definitely adult things my disabilities prevent me from doing in rl.

What is happening to SL being for a second life? Is it going to be for a second office- a very conservative office hours life of the kind I have seen in movies only (with office doors that are always shut and set to phantom rather than waste script time opening and closing)? Seriously, this is what it is sounding like.

Why thank you :) I would write in Dutch but it is not as good and even those that speak Dutch would have trouble reading me :)

Its also a hard language to learn, so guttural in places in pronunciation my old mum would tell me off for making some of the sounds ;)

Big businesses buy islands, not mainland. There's very little need for a new PG continent.

I answered that I wanted it to be more predictable also. I said that because the grid was crashing 3 times a week, stuff was vanishing from inventory, I was crashing 3 times a night...

HEY LL! Predictable does not mean Pornfree!

Man, I'll just never answer any questions or polls from them again if they are just looking for fake validation for what they are gonna do anyways. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. My faith in Linden Labs now has to be represented by a 2d vector, as all that's left is the imaginary component.

Adult places search to OTHER, after 60 days
04-23-2009 15:02
from
http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Release_Notes/Second_Life_Public_Nightly/1.23?

The Search > Places tab now includes checkboxes to indicate whether you want to include [X] PG content, [X] Mature content, [X] Adult content in your search. The panel for your search result details will also indicate whether the Place's Location is on a region which is (PG), (Mature) or (Adult).

* The ability to choose "Adult" as a category of Places to search for will disappear after the 60-day transition period. Any places still categoried as "Adult" at that time will then be migrated by Linden Lab to the "Other" category.

WOW!! ADULT to OTHER in 60 Days. Look it is the amazing LINDEN'S

It certainly makes you wonder after - V - brought it up, it made me think and it makes sense based on the wording LL used. But it might not be true, although i will not be answering anymore ambiguous and unclear polls in the future.

Since LL probably pays them a fair amount of money, I think they'd care even less than LL does. Unless LL started paying them to care.

I don't know about that...

"So, bob. How do you think this change will go over with our customers? Can you sell it to them?"

"Well, mark- I can try. But I've already received a couple thousand e-mails against it."

"A couple thousand? That's nothing! Sl has "millions of users"

"But mark, the couple thousand add up to about 90% of the people that you've *told* about it so far. Once you make a public announcement, the numbers will go up. Remember that you haven't told *millions*, you've only told a couple thousand people."

"Hmmm..."

[W]e cannot play the role of arbitrating personal grievances or defining behavioral standards. This is particularly important as Linden Lab becomes more international. We don’t want to force a California-centric set of rules on the virtual world.

Female nipples and topless female sunbathing will not be suitable for a PG region.
Says it all, really.

Verification like cheese with holes
04-23-2009 15:29
To Linden Labs.

I'm an alt and I've just age verified myself with fake information.
Entered a name, address, street name, country;
Choose verify with Drivers license and I entered a random number.
Tick the checkbox that I agree to terms and that I am supplying correct information.

Click next.

Your information has been successfully verified.

At least improve your verification because this is absolute nonsense.

I'm only telling you this, because you have to look at the verification process before even implementing the changes to adult content.

here we are, someone who doesn't mind the flashing of the titties and the "kitties" thinks we're unwholesome and doesn't want to be associated with us.

welcome to the new reality..

I think that LL was expecting *exactly* this reaction from *most* of the people who were classified "adult". They expected people to *not* want to move to ursula badly enough to clean up to avoid it.

I think that was their basic assumption moving forward with this. that's why they think they don't need more that 250 sims for Ursula, why they think mainland values won't crash, and why they think the residents will sit still for it.

They think that *most* people will be like our friend here, anxious to avoid being associated with the likes of us. so much so that they will adjust their activities back towards the Disney end of the spectrum.
