No 'clique' just contagious behavior. And a certain amount of territoriality that bears frequent self 'checks' to avoid.

Whatever one's opinion of someone they can be treated at least with courtesy, or if that is not possible somehow, with avoidance.

Ganging up on someone because one finds their views out in left field is - well I am feeling really disillusioned with this whole spectacle. Granted, self restraint goes both ways. Debra could've chosen not to post things like Alvaro quoted by her. But enough with the lizard stuff, everybody, I mean, it's just mean. It's like blood sport now.
It's not that anyone started off on her (though there were a few of us who hit her NSA reference with the same quizzical "HUH?";). She came to these forums swinging - initially at Linden Labs for "forcing" her to have to cough up personal information, and then at each and every one of us who honestly and genuinely offered alternatives. I'm all about treating people with courtesy and respect; but they have to show it to me as well. When I offer genuine advice and it is met with what basically amounts to "fuck you, I'm smart, you're stupid, and you're one of *them*", then courtesy and respect tend to go right out the window.

Yep
After the first post which WAS pretty much aimed solely at LL, and the NSA, a few comments follwed, none of which were particularly snarky, maybe a bit cheeky. They mostly consisted of suggestions to rectify the OP's concern. They were met with this:

From: someone
It is such a shame watching how you all just roll over on your back and submit to this invasion of privacy. I will NOT submit.

Why is it that Americans have such a problem with dealing with the fact that only Americans still believe they live in the land of the free. I will not comply with unconstitutional laws passed in the US when I don't even live there. The age verification came about because of that and its all because they want to control you people. If they cared about children they would do something about all the child molesters working for social services that steal the children from their parents and place them under the control of the out of control family courts.

All I want to do is go dancing in a club I like, listen to the music stream they have while chatting with someone I know for an hour.

It was downhill from there. Piling on is not nice, and a lot of us took shots at her, but it is no surprise when a conversation starts out like that one did. Smart move would have been to just say "No thanks, but I don't care to do as you suggest. I don't agree with the policies for my own reasons, but thanks for the answers anyway."

If you go back and read the thread in question, she instigated most of the "pile on" with something that was either trolling, or close enough to it as to make no difference.

She deliberately steered the thread into black helicopter land. Looking back, it seems clear the thread is either an excellent troll, or being used as a platform to voice her alternative beliefs.

Either way, I see no reason to feel sorry for Debra, as it seems fairly obvious the thread went exactly where she wanted it to go.

I stand by my assessment. Debra is a loon. That won't stop me from teaching her to texture a prim or edit an attachment, but darned if I'll waste any more time listening to her wacky conspiracy theories.

So I can only assume then that:

1. Vitamin D3 prevents you getting the flu is a conspiracy theory

2. Colloidal Silver will prevent you getting the flu and cure you of it is a conspiracy theory

3. Taking Selenium supplement will prevent the bird flu virus from mutating in the body so that it can attack the lungs is a conspiracy theory

4. That vaccines cause autism and that it’s the aluminium that does it is a conspiracy theory

5. That there is evidence that vaccines do not work is a conspiracy theory

6. That the drug companies themselves admit that vaccines cannot prevent cancer is a conspiracy theory

7. That the drug companies are only interested in creating patents is a conspiracy theory

Looks to me like you’re the loon with the wacky conspiracy theories. I doubt very much that you have even looked at one of the links I have provided.

I did look, and you would know that if you read my replies. Not at all your links, but enough to see that they are the sort of tin-foil-hat wearing, half-truth scaremongering nonsense that we have been telling you they are. As for the things you stated being conspiracy theories, no, they aren't. These are unsupported quack medical theories. Except for number 7. That's not a conspiracy, that's economics. However, a profit motivation does not equate, as you seem to think, with being actively engaged in killing millions of people.

Troll on, dear.

Hey wait, I'm curious. Why is it that aluminum causes autism, but silver cures disease? And if silver is good, wouldn't gold, being rarer and more valuable, be even better? Maybe those conspicuously rich people who buy those $25,000 gold-dusted desserts have got the right idea, do you think?

No. Vitamin D3, as part of a healthy diet and healthy lifestyle, is a good way to help prevent getting sick. Note: "As part of". Vitamin D3, alone, is completely useless, as it requires the presence of other nutrients in the body to even be absorbed, let alone used.

Sure - a conspiracy to take gullible people's money. Otherwise, it's just snake-oil.

A conspiracy theory? No. A poorly-researched conclusion? Yes. See my point about your Vitamin D3 claim above.

Yes.

5. That there is evidence that vaccines do not work is a conspiracy theory
Conspiracy theory? Perhaps. Utter bullshit? Yes. There is evidence to support any claim under the sun, if one looks hard enough and can sell it convincingly. If you want to believe it badly enough, you will find the evidence you need to support it, no matter how specious.

If you remove the word "only", then it would be a true statement and not a conspiracy theory. Since when does wanting to make a profit make one evil? Is someone evil for wanting to earn enough to feed his or her family and maybe buy an nicer house? However, by including the word "only", you've turned it into a complete bullshit statement.

If you don't stick a 9 volt battery on your tongue, how do you know if its still good? God, I miss the taste of metallic contacts charged with electricity...those were good times...

Yeah, that threw me for a moment, too. Presumably the intent is to put outrageously general terms around the HPV vaccine.

I'm not against vaccines in general. I've had tons during my lifetime and haven't suffered any major discomfort from any of them.

However, I am very weary of this H1N1 vaccine. Here in Belgium the reporting about the virus has just been insane. It's like they're really trying to cause a national panic, estimating how many cases and deaths there are going to be. I think the worldwide panic has pushed the drug companies to get a vaccine out as quickly as possible, and I therefore am not entirely confident that it's safe.

There have been deaths in Belgium as well, but most cases reported seem to be of people who were already ill or in a risk group and then got struck with the flu. An SL friend of mine also got the swine flu and though she had it rough for a week or so, she recovered without problems. Obviously I'd rather not get it, but if I do I'm fairly certain I'll just be able to ride it out.

I'm pretty disgusted with how the media handled the reporting surrounding this virus. They did the same thing with SARS several years back, getting everyone in a panic. Then of course the whole thing died out without anyone noticing.

ya the main people that have to watch out for H1N1 are people with respiratory problems..
like people with Asthma..i read that most of the ones that have died from it had some sort of respiratory problem..
it wasn't the usual people like children or older ages..it was people of all ages..
This flu does have an affect on your lungs..
i have strong lungs myself and i remember at one point feeling like they had shrunk..

I know someone with bad lungs or other respiratory problems would have had it a lot rougher..

I see, what are your qualifications to say they are theories?

As it happens, colloidal gold is good good for many problems too, like reducing problems people have with joint problems. But colloidal gold is much more dangerous and needs to be taken in smaller quantities. The reason that aluminum causes autism can be found on the Dr, Carley site, which is why she is also able to reverse it. But of course, as far as you are concerned its better that she is called a quack and that her patients do not have the opportunity to have their autism reversed.

I did leave out the two examples of curing cancer for a reason. I wanted to see what kind of crap you would come back with. Now why don't you also call them quack medical theories. Why don't you deny people safe methods of killing cancers. You make me want to throw up. I hope people like you will become very ill and become crippled as I know most of you will in time. Then see how you reach out for all those quack theories as you call them when the doctors send you home to die.

What I found in the case of Dr. Carley, is a website that sorely needs to be redone, organized and well thought out. I tried to read some of it but honestly the changes in fonts, that annoying background and lack of any organization made it worse than trying to make sense of Jumpy's posts.

As far as reading it and getting anything halfway intelligible out of it, didn't happen for me.
I'm a firm believer of "If you have something important to say, say it clearly and rationally." Her site did neither IMHO.

Most curious people will check out something that is stated clearly and rationally, if only because it piques the interest. BTW guilt by association (I.E. sites with info unrelated to medicine when using them as a claim for medical beliefs, classic conspiracy sites, quoting someone who has lost touch with reality) do nothing to bolster your arguments and/or opinions to me and probably others.

Oh, and BTW, I have control over my life, I rarely get sick, perhaps once or twice a year for a day, possibly two. I question everything, what my doctor tells me, what my son's pediatrician tells me, what my accountant tells me, everything. Not being told something because you didn't ask isn't a lie. But questioning to understand the reasons and risks are far different things than a "religion of conspiracy".

Twenty reasons why vitamin D is better than a swine flu vaccine
by Mike Adams, the Health Ranger, NaturalNews Editor

(NaturalNews) The news is out: Vitamin D is better than the swine flu vaccine at halting H1N1 infections. In fact, without vitamin D, chances are that a vaccine won't generate much of an immune response in the first place.

That's because vitamin D is essential for healthy, active immune function. That's just one of the reasons smart people are choosing vitamin D instead of the swine flu vaccine. Here are nineteen more reasons:

#1 Vitamin D activates your immune system to respond to any viral exposure (not just one virus).

#2 Vitamin D naturally belongs in your body.

#3 Vitamin D has been functioning as medicine in the human body since the beginning of the human species.

#4 Vitamin D is available right now and there's no shortage of it.

#5 Vitamin D won't cause your brain to swell and put you into a coma.

#6 Vitamin D doesn't require an injection with a scary needle.

#7 Vitamin D is found naturally in many foods such as sardines or salmon.

#8 Vitamin D has a perfect safety record. No one ever died from consuming it.

#9 Vitamin D is affordable. You can even get it for free (from sunlight).

#10 Vitamin D doesn't contain viral fragments from diseased animals (like vaccines often do).

#11 Vitamin D doesn't contain thimerosal or other chemical preservatives.

#12 Vitamin D doesn't need a warning sheet describing possible side effects.

#13 Vitamin D doesn't hurt your arm when you take it.

#14 Vitamin D also improves sugar metabolism, bone density and healthy moods.

#15 Vitamin D is safe for the environment.

#16 Vitamin D doesn't contain squalene or other inflammatory adjuvant chemicals.

#17 Vitamin D works on everyone and is safe for everyone, including infants and children.

#18 Vitamin D is made in nature, not a laboratory.

#19 Vitamin D is found naturally in breast milk.

#20 You can walk, and chew gum, and generate vitamin D from sunshine all at the same time!

Skip the vaccine. Get more Vitamin D!

And here's a little limerick I wrote about the swine flu vaccine that you might enjoy:
