What I want to know is what the experience of SL is like when you don't make sex a part of it.

Finally we get back to some decent humor in this thread.

This might possibly be a guy thing, but I don't require immersion or suspension of disbelief to get off. If I wasn't smacking it to SL I'd be smacking it to porn and if I didn't have porn I'd be making it in my head anyway. This goes on to some extent unless I am co-habitating with a girl who keeps me in a constant state of exhaustion ))))

I can't decide whether to laugh or groan in disgust.

How is it possible to have a satisfying emotional life in SL without having sex? OR without getting entangled emotionally (and probably sexually) to the point that that relationship becomes a negative, rather than a positive?

Actually, it occurred to me a long time ago that you could probably make real money in SL by producing a scripted "Cybersex HUD" for verbally-challenged males. With REALLY good, well-written, erotic dialogue, that could, with a click of the mouse, be inserted into IM or chat.

You know, a sort of virtual Cyrano de Bergerac for guys whose lines are limited to things like "I slap against you hard . . ."

To me, it is difficult, if not impossible, so solitary rules.

MY best erotic writing is done with a can of coke, a thesaurus, and enough time to really think about what I am saying. NOT while I'm typing frantically as fast as I can, scouring my brain at light speeds looking for a new way to say the same thing again, and wondering why the hell the whole thing is taking so long . . .

If you are getting emotionally involved when having pixel sex you must have something seriously lacking in your real life. I can understand if you are handicapped in some way and so cant get out to meet people but otherwise if you feel you are addicted I suggest you see a psychologist to help you work through the underlying issues. What are you avoiding? Are you shy? Introverted? Do you suffer from social anxiety?
Second life and any other online game is not meant to be a substitute for real connection with real people. Its a game nothing more nothing less.

Try joining a social club and go meet a real live person who wants to have real live sex and a real live emotional connection.
