And, personally, your name offends me...I used to know a guy named Chris Norse...in RL...who was a perverted, backwoods, sheep sticking illiterate. And everytime I read your name, I think of him.

The bigger picture is that we are here because the Linden Lab allows us to be. We agree to follow their rules or we are free to take our toys and money and play elsewhere. I really don't see what is so hard to understand about that.

I am damn proud to be a redneck. Funny most of the Marines I served with were rednecks as well. They also knew to capitalize Marine.

IMHO "Erection" is PG. It means "a building". Ivan has a building.

OK, there's another interpretation, but it's still PG. So is "Penis breath", according to the movie industry, in rating "ET the Extraterrestrial", but I'd probably side with barring that name.

Seriously: Erection is not scatalogical. It's a term with many meanings, but even in the sexual connotation it's pretty clinical and definitely PG. G? Maybe not.

LL requires "PG", not "G".

However, it's a matter of judgement. Bad judgement on LL's part, in this case. But I'm sure Ivan will get over it. It's certainly less clear than the Gaybot case.

You know...I can NOT believe how stupid this whole thread has became. What started out as a thread, to see what others thought, to see if anyone knew what could be done in this case...has wound up being an orgy of ignorance. I didn't come here to 'make friends' as one poster put it...I already can't keep up with my friends list. And what I've seen from about 2/3 of the people who have responded to this, that I don't know, I wouldn't want on my friends list. Period.

I sincerely hope that none of you ever have to deal with the 'wrath' of the Lindens...What may be ok today...might be a violation of TOS tomorrow. And, so, BFD...who cares, right. Until it's you. Then you'll sit up and pay attention to what's happened here..and I'm not talking about what's taken place in what has now became an ignorant thread.

And, to the poster who told me to 'let it go'...I think those little pearls of wisdom should be taken to heart by more than just myself. There's obviously people out there who love a good conflict..and want to take cheap shots at others...to the one who made a comment about the marine...well, I certainly hope you're not from the US. Being a military mom...your obvious lack of respect for the military is obvious. Jealous much?

But, I digress. I'm falling back in the pig sty with that 2/3 that enjoy wallowing in the mire. Have a nice SL everyone...and Ivan? KEEP RAWKIN!!! WOOT!!!

OK, I told myself I wasn't gonna post in here again, LOL...but a thought occured to me.

Since everyone seems to be so 'politically correct' these days...if I build Christmas trees for my store this year...am I gonna be AR'd for that? And, furthermore...should I rename my stock 'Holiday trees"???? Or just 'Evergreens with lights and ornaments for seasonal decoration'

I don't think there's that much room on the edit menu....

Look, its this simple. You came and posted a rant, to make you feel better about the way your friend was treated. If you had really wanted opinions, well you got them but did not seem to like them, well that is not wanting opinions. If you wanted solutions, you came to the wrong place, nobody here can do anything for you. The Lindens rarely act upon stuff posted here.
You got the best thing available, an explanation of why LL behaves the way it does, you also did not seem to like that either. Ergo it leads back to the original point about this being a rant post to make you feel better.
The only other stuff I see is forum regulars responding to you and your friends in kind for being personal about them.
That is not a great way to elicit sympathy and yet there is bags of sympathy for your friends situation in this thread.
Somehow out of all this you still are not happy, it is not the fault of people here that LL did what they did or that you cannot post here and get some sort of satisfaction in return.

What comment about the marine? If you mean mine. Yes I am an American taxpayer and citizen. I have served in the Armed Forces, not just a military mom. And yes most of the men I served with were rednecks. It wasn't all apple pie and "God Bless America". But then killing people and blowing stuff up isn't usually done by the refined and genteel. They tend to be the ones sitting safe in an office sending others to do the dirty work.

Take a page from your own book here, Sapphire. Your comment about the six-pack is pretty astonishing considering that you clearly know nothing about Mr. Norse.

Wrt the actual topic of the thread, I agree that it does seem odd to pounce on your friend's name ... probably, as you say, a very new Linden. If the name is essential to Ivan's business in SL perhaps he could have gone to a Governance office hour and gotten someone who is more familiar with common names in SL to intervene for him.

Frankly, though, I'm surprised they let him change his name. That is very rare.

And, finally, what happened to Gaybot? Was his account disappeared or something? Bummer, I loved that name! And, who is he now, if anyone?

If you had really wanted opinions, well you got them but did not seem to like them, well that is not wanting opinions. If you wanted solutions, you came to the wrong place, nobody here can do anything for you. The Lindens rarely act upon stuff posted here. You got the best thing available, an explanation of why LL behaves the way it does, you also did not seem to like that either. Ergo it leads back to the original point about this being a rant post to make you feel better. The only other stuff I see is forum regulars responding to you and your friends in kind for being personal about them. That is not a great way to elicit sympathy and yet there is bags of sympathy for your friends situation in this thread. Somehow out of all this you still are not happy, it is not the fault of people here that LL did what they did or that you cannot post here and get some sort of satisfaction in return.

Your comment about the six-pack is pretty astonishing considering that you clearly know nothing about Mr. Norse. Wrt the actual topic of the thread, I agree that it does seem odd to pounce on your friend's name ... probably, as you say, a very new Linden. If the name is essential to Ivan's business in SL perhaps he could have gone to a Governance office hour and gotten someone who is more familiar with common names in SL to intervene for him. Frankly, though, I'm surprised they let him change his name. That is very rare. And, finally, what happened to Gaybot? Was his account disappeared or something? Bummer, I loved that name! And, who is he now, if anyone? .
